Swinerton Raises $28,000 in Support of Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 17, 2015) - Swinerton Builders Sacramento recently rallied together with local subcontractors and The Swinerton Foundation -- the company's nonprofit arm -- to raise $28,000 in support of Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada. Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Swinerton team members, the contributions will help grant the aspirations of local wish children and families. The funds will support local area wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

A proud supporter of the nonprofit organization, in 2014 Swinerton partnered with the Make-A-Wish® Greater Bay Area region to grant the wish of becoming a construction foreman for a day of a three-year-old suffering from kidney cancer. Continuing the partnership in 2015, Swinerton's Sacramento-based team held numerous fundraising efforts in its local office and throughout its various jobsites to help grant the wish of one special little girl. Alexandra, "Lexi" from Waterford, California suffers from brain cancer, and wishes to go to Disneyland to meet her favorite characters. Swinerton team members have been planning Lexi's wish of visiting the Happiest Place On Earth® for an unforgettable tea party with her favorite Disney Princesses, and are thrilled to see her dreams come true.

The team kicked-off their fundraising campaign in March, reaching out to their local subcontractor community for support. In April, the team sponsored the Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada Wine and Food Fest, raising $5,100 for the annual event. Continuing their momentum, in May, five Swinerton team members attended the charity's Texas Hold'em Tournament to play their hand in support of the Make-A-Wish mission. The group rounded-out their campaign with a Smoothie Bar Social fundraiser held at the office last month. 

Thanks to the team's extraordinary commitment and determination -- combined with contributions from The Swinerton Foundation -- they surpassed their original $25,000 fundraising goal, allowing Lexi and her family to not only enjoy a memorable visit to Disneyland, but a trip to Universal Studios and Legoland as well. "Swinerton Builders is so pleased to be part of Make-A-Wish again this year," said Swinerton Builders Vice President Curtis Johnson. "These children and their families are so inspiring; it's easy for our employees, friends, and families to rally in support."

On June 12, Swinerton -- joined by special guests Disney Princesses Cinderella and Elsa -- held a celebratory send-off event in honor of the four-year-old. During the special gathering, Lexi was ecstatic to learn that not only was her wish to visit Disneyland being granted, but her dreams of traveling to Universal Studios and Lego Land would also become a reality.
