This third, and larger order follows two previous orders, received in 2023 and delivered in 2024, for smallpox vaccines to rescEU stockpiles across Europe and will help to expand the EU’s capability to respond to future biological threats and emergencies by enabling rapid deployment of medical countermeasures to its member states.

These designations are designed to facilitate the development or expedite review of medicines that either target an unmet medical need or may demonstrate substantial improvement over available therapy. In February 2024, the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) under EMA granted accelerated assessment for the MAA for the CHIKV VLP vaccine candidate, which Bavarian Nordic plans to submit by mid-2024.

Capital Increase in Bavarian Nordic A/S as a Result of Employee Warrant Exercise
November 30, 2023 – Bavarian Nordic A/S (OMX: BAVA) announced today that the Company's share capital has been increased by nominally DKK 1,692,300 as a consequence of employees’ exercise of warrants.
The capital increase was effected without any pre-emption rights for the existing shareholders of the Company or others. The shares were subscribed for in cash at the following prices per share of nominally DKK 10: 163,101 shares at DKK 142.00 and 6,129 shares at DKK 146.60. The total proceeds to Bavarian Nordic A/S from the capital increase amounts to DKK 24 million.
The new shares, which will rank pari passu in all respects with existing Bavarian Nordic shares, will be admitted to trading and official listing on Nasdaq Copenhagen as soon as possible.

COPENHAGEN, Denmark, November 16, 2023 – Bavarian Nordic A/S (OMX: BAVA) announced today its interim financial results for the first nine months of 2023 and business progress for the third quarter of 2023.
Revenue for the first nine months increased by 148% to DKK 4,615 million compared to the same period last year, while the operating profit (EBITDA) increased to DKK 1,552 million.
The increased revenue was driven by growth across both business areas: travel health and public preparedness. Revenue from travel health grew by 56% to DKK 1,608 million, as a result of the continued rebound in global travel, strong brand performance and the recent expansion of the travel health portfolio. Revenue from public preparedness grew by 316% to DKK 2,890 million, largely driven by contracts with governments related to the 2022/2023 mpox outbreak. Other revenue was DKK 117 million.
Financial guidance for the full year is maintained at a revenue of approximately DKK 6,900 million and an EBITDA of approximately DKK 2,300 million. Eine der Nebenwirkungen, d.h. die Ruptur der Archillessehne konnte ich vor ca. 20 Jahren am eigenen Leib erfahren, nachdem mir Ciprofloxacin nach einer schweren Atemwegserkrankung verschrieben wurde.
Dann präferiere ich dann doch lieber Biontech, die zusammen mit CEPI eine Partnerschaft zur Entwicklung eines mRNA-Mpox-Impfstoffs (zur Unterstützung von CEPIs 100-Tage-Ziel) bekannt gegeben haben!

Ein MRNA basierter Impfstoff ist ein Risiko für Bavarian Nordic. Seitdem man die Sache in der Corona-Pandemie einmal durchgezogen hat, sind die Genehmigungsprozesse im allgemeinen sehr einfach und schnell. Da verliert jedes Unternehmen, das traditionelle Impfstoffe entwickelt.

Revenue is now expected to be approximately DKK 6,900 million (previously approximately DKK 6,000 million) and EBITDA is now expected to be approximately DKK 2,300 million (previously approximately DKK 2,200 million). Revenue from the acquired products is only included from the date of completion of the transaction (mid-May) and is expected to be approximately DKK 165 million. The acquisition will negatively impact EBITDA by approximately DKK 375 million primarily related to the Phase 3 development of the chikungunya vaccine and one-off integration costs.
