Extension Of Deadline For State Lotteries Tender
Greek betting company OPAP asked the Fund for the Development of the Private Property to postpone the deadline (29/11) of expression of interest by two weeks regarding the tender of granting the 12-year exclusive license for State Lotteries.
The request is expected to be granted and will allow the company to finalize discussion with well-known groups to jointly submit in the tender.
OPAP has launched contacts with international and domestic business groups that have experience in running lotteries to select a partner (or partners) to claim the license, otherwise there would be a significant capital burden. The company intends to lead the joint venture, whose composition will be announced very soon.
Following the submission of bids, the qualified participants will be able to submit binding offers. The winner will be acquired the exclusive rights for a period of 12 years to produce, operate, promote and manage the Greek State Lotteries, which include National Lottery, Popular and European Lottery, Scratch Card, Housing Lottery and New Year Lottery.
In a conference call with analysts, OPAP head G.Spanoudakis said that Greek banks agreed on a bond issue of €300 million, with cost of 3-month Euribor +6.75%. The banking scheme is led by National Bank, with Emporiki, Eurobank and Hellenic Postbank participating, while no foreign bank was willing to take risks.
