Nat. Sec: New Framework Less Protectionary For OPAP
National Securities said on Tuesday that the proposed framework regarding gaming sector is considerably less protectionary for OPAP, according to a report.
National Sec expects the stock to trade sideways in the short term, following the significant outperformance during the past week.
“At first glance the proposed framework is considerably less protectionary for OPAP than initially expected, while Intralot could benefit depending on the final details”, says the firm.
It expects that “Centric will most definitely compete for a license in the online segment, while Avenir could benefit from a potential introduction of VLTs in vessels”.

Eurobank Securities increases OPAP’s target-price at EUR19, retaining its “Buy” rating, as the resulting tax benefit would boost net profits by 20%, according to a report.
The corporate tax rate will be reduced to 24-25% from 39% under previous regime. For 2011, this falls to 20% from 38%.
Eurobank said that 4-10 ten-year licenses will be tendered for a total of 25000 machines, while bidders for these can be public entities with share capital larger than EUR500k based in Greece or with permanent presence in the country.
“Overall, still not clear how many licenses OPAP will end up with”, it adds.
Eurobank considers OPAP the best-placed to benefit from the regulation of the Greek market as the incumbent.
However, the critical points will be how much the online regulated market will grow, what percent will remain offshore and which activities will be allowed.

Opap SA may be included on the Greek government’s state-asset sales list for 2011, Imerisia newspaper reported.
The sale of the state’s 35 percent stake could fetch as much as 2.5 billion euros ($3.2 billion), Imerisia said. Any sale would take place after legislation to regulate the gambling market is finished and new games for Opap are introduced, the Athens-based daily reported, without saying where it got the information.
