Jaguar Mining Reports Continued High-Grade Intercepts at Turmalina Gold Mine Identifies New High-Grade Mineralization Within Orebody C

Drilling Highlights and Key Intercepts:
•Drill intercepts completed confirmed the continuation of high-grade gold mineralization down-plunge of Orebody A (refer to news release July 13, 2016).
•Drill intercepts within lower portions of Orebody A (A-SE) confirm the widening of the mineralization below current workings, not previously identified at upper levels.
•Drill intercepts at Orebody C confirm a number of high-grade gold mineralized intercepts which suggests higher mineralization at depth, and could potentially increase mining production at Turmalina
•Development of the new Growth Exploration drilling horizon in the hanging wall of Orebody A, is underway and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2017.
•Turmalina drill program continues to increase the confidence in the geological model of both orebodies through increased drill density.
•Drill results provide the potential to upgrade and increase the current resources to a higher category and include the following key intercepts:

Orebody A ◦Drill hole FTS-1324 intercepted 11.33 g/t Au over 17.1 m (ETW 14.6 m)
◦Drill hole FTS-1325 intercepted 9.95 g/t Au over 14.2 m (ETW 10.8 m)
◦Drill hole FTS-1306 intercepted 6.08 g/t Au over 22.3 m (ETW 10.4 m)

Orebody C ◦Drill hole FTS-1355 intercepted 3.65g/t Au over 15.3 m (ETW 14.9 m)◾including an intercept of 6.39 g/t Au over 6.1 m (ETW 6.0 m)

◦Drill hole FTS-1326 intercepted 2.89g/t Au over 16.6m (ETW 15.8 m)◾including an intercept of 9.27 g/t Au over 3.8 m (ETW 3.6 m)

◦Drill hole FTS-1338 intercepted 3.93g/t Au over 10.3m (ETW 10.1 m)◾including an intercept of 7.04 g/t Au over 2.8 m (ETW 2.7 m)

Jaguar Reports Majority of Convertible Debenture Holders Elect to Convert to Common Shares; Company Strengthens its Balance Sheet

Toronto, Canada, October 13, 2016 - Jaguar Mining Inc. ("Jaguar" or the "Company") (TSX: JAG) is pleased to report that a majority of holders of senior secured Convertible Debentures (the "Debentures"), representing approximately 80% of the principal amount of total outstanding Debentures, have elected to convert their Debentures into common shares of the Company ("Common Shares"). The conversions of Debentures have resulted in an increase in the Company's outstanding Common Shares to 257,035,227, which will be reflected on the TSX in the coming days. This will also result in an increase in the Company's market capitalization to approximately C$193 million (based on 257,035,227 shares valued at C$0.75 per share). With the conversion of the majority of the Debentures, the Company has significantly strengthened its balance sheet with the reduction of its senior secured debt and savings of US$645,000 per quarter (approximately US$2.6 million per year) in interest payments, reflecting an immediate savings in the Company's annual cash outflow. The Company is now in a zero "net debt" position, considering the balance sheet at June 30, 2016. Net debt is defined as total debt, less cash.

Tocqueville Gold Fund and Eric Sprott represent 77% of the Debenture holders electing to convert their Debentures in exchange for Common Shares.

Jaguar Mining Reports Strong Gold Production of 71,201 Ounces for First Nine Months of 2016 Q3 2016 Consolidated Gold Production of 25,782 Ounces

Q3 2016 Highlights (All figures are in US dollars unless otherwise indicated) •Following strong Q3 2016 production and operating performance, the Company is on track to meet or exceed the top end of its 2016 gold production guidance of 90,000 to 95,000 ounces.
•Consolidated gold production for Q3 2016 increased 2% year-over-year to 25,782 ounces based on average consolidated mill head grade of 3.92 g/t (Q3 2015 -- 3.90 g/t) and recovery of 91.3% (Q3 2015 -- 89.9%).
•Turmalina led strong Q3 2016 results with 16,304 ounces of gold production, up 17% year-over-year, based on an average head grade of 4.36 g/t and recovery of 92%.
•Total primary development investment increased 17% year-over-year to 1,347 metres ("m") completed in Q3 2016. Secondary development increased 65% year-over-year to 1,182 m in Q3 2016.
•Total definition, infill, and exploration drilling of 6,749 m completed during Q3 2016 focused on key targets at Turmalina and Caeté. A total of 28,127 m of drilling was carried out in the first nine months of 2016.
•To support future growth, the Company continued its 2016 capital investment program, which includes investing in development and exploration activities at all mines, a newly designed paste-fill plant, and the rebuild of Mill #3, both at Turmalina. The paste-fill plant and Mill #3 are expected to be commissioned in Q4 2016.
•Despite a strengthening Brazilian Real, the Company's increased cost control measures ensured that it remains on track to achieve 2016 cost guidance.
•Preliminary cash balance of $17.3 million after investing significant capital in development and exploration programs, $0.4 million towards the convertible debentures interest, and repaying $1.3 million for principal and interest towards other debt facilities in Q3 2016.
