Gute Nachrichten interessieren ja kaum mehr jemand, wenn alle im Verkaufsrausch sind. Trotzdem hier eine Meldung zu INTA´s Interwave:

interWAVE and UNITOP Selected to Build Community Cellular Network in Northern China

Initial Contract Marks interWAVE`s Continued Expansion into China

      April 5, 2000 07:00 AM Eastern Time
MENLO PARK, Calif., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- interWAVE(R) Communications International, Ltd. IWAV today announced that Hangzhou Topper Electric Corporation ("UNITOP"), an interWAVE partner in China, has been awarded an initial, multi-million dollar contract to build a Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) network in one of the northernmost provinces in China.
China Mobile Telecom, the local telecommunications operator, will utilize the scalable interWAVE network to increase capacity for communities located in high usage areas as well as improve operating efficiencies, network performance and system reliability. interWAVE`s system will also enable China Mobile Telecom to upgrade its communications systems with innovative functions and offer subscribers other value-added services in the future.

"interWAVE`s business strategy in China is to provide cost-effective, plug-and-play compact GSM networks using our WAVEXpress product line for regions wanting to extend their network coverage or capacity into small villages," said Dr. Priscilla Lu, chairman and chief executive officer of interWAVE. "This initial contract demonstrates interWAVE`s continued expansion and momentum in China and underscores our flexible, turn-key solutions designed to meet communications needs of many Chinese communities."

UNITOP, with its expertise in China`s cellular network market, is able to offer China Mobile Telecom an overall, interoperable system with interWAVE`s compact base station and controller equipment. The system will operate as a seamless extension of China Mobile Telecom`s existing wireless infrastructure.

"UNITOP won this contract because of the unique solution offered by interWAVE`s product line, which provides ease of use and compatibility with existing networks," said Qian Shengang, chairman and chief executive officer of UNITOP. "With our broad expertise and strength in system level network integration, we are able to deploy interWAVE`s technology directly into China`s expanding wireless network market."

The interWAVE product suite includes WAVEXpress/BSC(TM), a compact Base Station Controller; WAVEXpress/ BTS(TM), a compact GSM Radio Base Station that offers a wide range of power levels, from 2 watts up to 8 watts; and the WAVEView/OMC(TM), a compact network management platform that provides operators remote management access capabilities. The WAVEXpress platforms can be software configured to support intelligent switching capabilities, as subscriber needs grow.

Initial installations are scheduled for completion by the end of the third quarter 2000.
