Larry´s (The HOOV) Bericht zu TBM:

Report on Tribute Minerals Inc. (TBM.V/TBMIF.PK), completed March 28, 2010, by Larry Hoover.

The following link takes you to a copy of the Powerpoint presentation that Tribute gave at their AGM early in the fall of 2009. I was unable to attend that meeting, but I had a long telephone call with Ian Brodie-Brown shortly thereafter, and he walked me through the slides so that I could better understand their meaning, and their significance.

      http://www.tributeminerals.com/press_releases/pr2009/VTEM%20…

When I first saw the slides, and before I spoke to Ian, I saw that there were direct comparisons between his targets and Noront's Eagle 1. The very first thing I did when I got him on the phone was that I challenged him on the appropriateness of that comparison. By the end of our discussion, I told him that I agreed with the prospectivity of these targets, with respect to the potential for their being magmatic massive sulphide bodies, analogous to those seen at Noront's Eagle 1 deposit. In my opinion, he had made the case for his hypothesis, and it was well worth testing that theory by drilling the targets.

In reference to the slide show presented at the AGM (linked above):

Slide 4: These claims lie just inside the main body of the ROF (referring to the masses of claims staked early on), a good 10 km to the NW of UC Resource's
McFaulds West bullseye/conductor, and about 35 km WNW of Noront's Eagle's Nest deposits. Even these slides are actually misleading because, as a result of recent interpretive work, Tribute has staked a further 54 claims, amounting to an additional 12,200 hectares/30,150 acres, surrounding and extending these claim blocks..

Slide 6: Shows drill targets at the centre of the VTEM anomalies, with probable drill positions indicated by the arrows. These targets appear at the extreme edge of the area flown by the helicopter, and it is apparent from this image that the helicopter pilot did not follow the assigned grid pattern right to the edge of the target area, as indicated by the deviation from linearity of the gray grid lines (actual flight path indicated by aerial GPS). Full details of the drill targeting will follow, below.

Slide 7: Shows actual VTEM data for (from left to right) Eagle 1, Anomaly 1, and Anomaly 2 (Tribute drill targets on the "Sunday" anomaly). It's critical to recognize that the vertical scale on each image is different. The Tribute data are roughly an order of magnitude weaker than those from E1. Geotech, who did the data collection and provided all these interpretations, said that the attenuated signal is simply due to depth of cover above the target. They each represent "stacked targets", i.e. vertical mineral assemblages. VTEM identifies the contact surface of the conductor, but is somewhat blind to what is below the topmost conductive contact.

Slide 8: This is an actual report document prepared for Noront, on Eagle 1. The data refer to the top 90 metres of the deposit, of which 20 metres is overburden. The critical data point is the conductance of the EM anomaly, said to be 452.9 S (four signifacant figures?...perhaps an exaggeration of precision.....can't take the academic out me), which contrasts significantly from that of the overburden, given as 1.5 S. According to Ian, Geotech data indicates that massive sulphides have conductance between 300 and 700 Siemens.

The key dataset that determines the inferred rock type by VTEM is the conductance, measured in units called Siemens after the 19th century German inventor. There are other methods of measuring rock conductance, but Geotech has developed a database of VTEM targets which have actually been drilled off, and they've been subsequently cross-referenced with the original data. They've determined that the sulphide style of mineralization that I've previously mentioned shows conductance values within a constrained range. Above a certain threshold, you start thinking iron oxides, e.g. magnetite. Below a certain threshold, you either have very low grades of any better conductor, or background from the peridotite or whatever constitutes the bulk of the intrusive body (the magma host). Between those two thresholds, you have a prospective "sweet spot" of conductivity. Geotech has categorized these Tribute drill targets as being any of nickel, copper, zinc, or one of two iron sulphide species, in either semi-massive to massive deposit styles. The first three listed sulphide species would likely be of economic potential, if truly massive in gross morphology.

Slide 9: It's hard to read the title, but this is the VTEM on the first target, Anomaly 1. On the lower left is an image with the text "Depth = 76.9 m", which shows the nearest-surface point of the conductive target. The scale on the left of that image indicates metres above Massive Sulphide Level (if I recall the meaning of the latter initial correctly....the first two are indeed massive sulphide). A critical datapoint is the conductance, here at 585 (Siemens. Units inferred, but stated by Ian as being in Siemens), well within the sulphide conductance range, but somewhat above that at Eagle 1. Possible explanations for that variance might be type of mineralization, or even better grade of the same type as found at E1. (Don't make anything out of the the latter clause especially; the difference is simply not yet fully explained, and I've simply added my own suppositions.)

Slide 10: This is the drill target recommendation provided by Geotech. The data block to the right shows you the orientation of this vertical section. The data block to the left shows you the recommended drill collar parameters. Note that the target is shown with dotted lines below it, indicating suggested continuity. Based on past target reliability, companies which have drilled from these VTEM-derived recommendations have found them to be accurate to within +/- 5 m, which is really quite extraordinary. Definitely the state of the art, if it's true.

Slide 11: VTEM table similar to Slide 9, but of Anomaly 2. The target is at a similar depth, and shows modestly lower conductance than at Eagle 1, or at Anomaly 1.

Slide 12: Drill targetting information for Anomaly 2, similar to Slide 10. Note that the hole is projected to only go to 125 m (150m on target 1), making for a rather quick, cheap, and easy drill program, provided the rock isn't heavily fractured or loose overburden doesn't present problems in maintaining hole integrity.

Slide 13: Comparison between ZTEM (a deep-penetrating, but low resolution, geophysical method of identifying conductors/mineralized zones via airborne magneto-tellurics) on the left, and surface magnetic signatures on the right. N.b. The critical distinction between the two images is the deep conductor seen on the ZTEM. This isn't seen with VTEM because of the shielding effect of deeper conductors by shallower ones. The same pattern is seen at Eagle 1. Tribute has specifically chosen their targets based on composite selection screen which requires that drill targets must include correspondence between the vaious geophysical data sets; i.e only magnetic features with positive VTEM signatures, as well as ZTEM indicators, are in the preliminary round of drilling. Tribute has other targets already identified via this target screening method, along with others still being assessed, but these are the best ones they've yet identified.

Slide 14: A totally circumstantial piece of evidence, but both Eagle 1 and these two Tribute drill targets lie just inside a significant magnetic feature, which is the Red Line on the regional magnetic maps, sometimes called the Ring of Fire magnetic anomaly.

Slide 15: This is a ZTEM inversion (computer derived image, which is derived mathematically from what ZTEM actually measures, which is rock electrical resistance to current induction at different radio frequencies), and the conduit shape is obvious. Hopefully, the deep structure is found to be a mineralized sill. Obviously, determining the truth of that hypothesis is still a long way off. Now, they do suggest, via text on this slide, that the deep conductive structure has not been verified by any other means, and could be a computational artefact. ZTEM is a relatively new method, so we can expect question marks. The black bars do indicated the peak magnetic intensity trend of the apparent conductor, to depth.

Slide 16: You can just make out the transect line in the right image, i.e. the one with superimposed squiggles of the AFMAG response, which is then presented as the plane surface of the ZTEM section image to the left. There is some evidence of a north/south oriented structure through this anomaly.

Slide 17: Similar to Slide 16, but this ZTEM transect is slightly to the east of the previous slide. The similarity of this image of the conductor shape at depth to that seen in Slide 16 may indicate something of the size of the apparent conuctor, which we would hope is mineralized across the width spanning the two images.

Slide 18: This slide is a larger image of the inversion shown in Slide 17, which indicates that a large volume conductive body may exist at the 500-800 m depth range (the blue hatched box). We also see that the magnetic intensities of the apparent conductor appear to become more intense with depth (approaching 2000 metres below surface).

Shallow drilling on the targets shown in slides 9-12 was conducted late last fall, and visual examination of the core and assay results did determine that massive sulphides were present, although the grade was nothing spectacular. http://www.tributeminerals.com/press_releases/pr2009/nov2520… The real intent of the drill program was not to intersect the main bodies of mineralization, which lie deeper down, but instead to confirm the type of intrusive body and style of mineralization. This was indeed found to be an ultramafic intrusive, with mineralization of the magmatic massive sulphide style. These preliminary holes also allowed them to do downhole Crone EM geophysics, which gave them much more information about strike extensions and nearby conductive bodies. http://www.tributeminerals.com/press_releases/pr2009/dec2200… That borehole information was then used to develop detailed drill targets for the second round of exploration drilling, recently completed. A total of eight holes were drilled in the vicinity of those earlier holes, including one strike extension target which could only be easily drilled from the frozen surface in the wintertime, as it lies beneath a bog. According to company sources, the strike length of the targets, if they prove to be connected to one another, would exceed 2 kilometres. A news release providing an exploration update and assay results from the first few holes of this new program is expected soon, perhaps in as little as one or two weeks' time.

While we wait for formal confirmation of the drill results from the recent program, there have been some rumours floating around which are somewhat exciting, if found to be true. The gist is that Tribute has been pulling core reminiscent of that seen at Noront's Eagle 1, based on visual examination. Of course, it is the assayed grade that will determine if it is indeed comparable to Noront's discovery. I can only hope that is the case.

Mining industry sources have indicated that Tribute recently placed an order for cutting blades required to split core, suggesting that Tribute was splitting and assaying more core than they had anticipated prior to undertaking the recent drilling program. Recent comments from the company do indicate that more sampling was done, and samples submitted for laboratory assay, than had been expected based on their prior projections for the drill program just completed. It has also been reported that the relatively light-weight diamond drill used for this drill program was pushed beyond its design capacity of 250-300 metres depth, to something in excess of 400 metres penetration, on at least one hole. With each extension of the drill string, the risk of damage to the drill's mechanical equipment, as well as the risk of losing the string, would increase. But with each new section of drill rod, you would also pull an equal length of new drill core. One would not imagine that the decision to proceed with depth extension of the hole beyond the rig's design capacity would be taken lightly, or that it would be based on weak evidence derived from the newly recovered drill core. In fact, the decision to go deeper would have been made anew with each new core recovery, and would thus have been made 30 or 40 times over, as the depth increased. That has me hopeful that the recent drilling was very successful indeed (Did the hole remain in mineralization over that depth extension beyond the rated drill capacity?), and I eagerly await the company's official news release(s) describing the results.

Press Release Source: Tribute Minerals Inc. On Tuesday March 30, 2010, 5:18 pm

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 30, 2010) - Tribute Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:TBM - News) announces the completion of diamond drilling from its winter 2010 program. Tribute drilled 1907 metres in 8 holes and on its wholly owned South Bend Property located in the "Ring of Fire" property package of the James Bay Lowlands. The drill targets are located 30 km east southeast of the First Nation community of Webequie and 40 kilometres west of Noront's Eagle Nest Ni-Cu-PGE Deposit.

The results continue to be encouraging because six out of the seven drill holes testing the two kilometre long Sunday Anomaly trend during the winter program continued to intersect significant sulphidic intersections hosted in amphibolite rocks of mafic to ultrabasic composition interspersed with sections of granite gneiss and granodiorite. The results are outlined as follows:

All the holes were completed along the Sunday Anomaly trend with the exception of SB-10-11 that tested a separate VTEM anomaly 20 km to the south. Hole SB-10-08 extended the sulphidic zone along the trend a further 500 metres to the west. Hole SB-10-12 is of interest because the sulphidic zone appears to be thickening down-dip in the centre of the Sunday Anomaly trend. Assay results have been completed for the first three holes with SB-10-09 reporting significant copper, cobalt and silver values grading 1.05% Cu, 0.06% Co and 8.9 g/t Ag from 207.9-209.8 metres down-hole. SB-10-09 tested an off-hole CRONE BOREHOLE EM anomaly from Hole SB-09-01 situated down-dip in the direction the ZTEM anomaly discussed in previous news releases. Hole SB-10-08 returned a single significant assay of 0.21% Cu and 2.8 g/t Ag from 89.0-90.2 metres down-hole. Hole SB-10-10, located a kilometre east of SB-09-01, tested the main magnetic high anomaly along the Sunday Anomaly trend with a single significant assay of 0.16% Cu and 1.2 g/t Ag from 65.9-66.8 metres down-hole. Samples were sent out for assay for all of the holes and results remain pending for holes SB-10-11 to SB-10-15.

The Sunday Anomaly lies within an interpreted major regional east-west magnetic trend that stretches for 24 kilometres which was staked by Tribute in November and December, 2009 based upon the results of the fall drill program. Management believes this trend is favourable for hosting magmatic massive sulphide type mineralization similar to that found at Eagle One. With the exception of the Sunday Anomaly, this newly acquired wholly owned ground remains unexplored.

Ian Brodie-Brown President of Tribute comments, "Management is encouraged with the results and intends to pursue remaining geophysical targets on the property and explore further the interesting sulphide mineralization found to date with additional borehole geophysical surveys and drilling after break-up. Tribute is also very pleased that the Ring of Fire has now received serious attention from the provincial government with the recent budget announcement of new initiatives ($45M) for training and development. The government is focusing on the Ring of Fire and there will be government commissioned gravity airborne geophysical surveys that will help upgrade our extensive land package."

Tribute now wholly owns approximately 39,500 hectares of claimed ground in the Mc Faulds Camp making it one of the largest 100% exploration landholders in the region. Tribute also has a very strong working relationship with the Webequie people on whose traditional lands this work is being conducted. As per our arrangement with Webequie the camp has been closed for the spring season so the band can conduct their traditional spring goose hunt, and the Tribute camp will be used by the Chief and his family to participate in this important harvesting tradition.

The drill samples sent for assay were split in half using a diamond saw, sealed in secure packages, and shipped by bonded carrier to Activation Laboratories in Geraldton, Ontario for preparation. Sample pulps were then shipped to Activation Laboratories in Thunder Bay using analytical methods of total digestion by Code IF2 ICP for multi-element scan and Code 1C Fire Assay ICP-OES for Au, Pt and Pd. Code 8 ore grade analysis was completed for samples with Cu values containing greater than 10,000 ppm. A duplicate unknown to the laboratory was submitted per batch of ten samples. A polymetallic standard and a blank, unknown to the laboratories, were included with each batch of 30 samples. Activation Laboratories fulfilled standard QA/QC protocols.

The South Bend exploration program is under the direction of Trevor Boyd, P.Geo, Vice President Exploration, Tribute, and a qualified person (QP) for the purposes of NI 43-101.

On behalf of the Board of Directors,

      Spannend !

For Immediate Release August 16, 2010

Tribute Minerals Inc. announces that it is recommencing drilling of the Sunday Anomaly VTEM-Magnetic trend located on its South Bend Property within its approximately 97,000 acre “Ring of Fire” package in the James Bay Lowlands. A single hole is being drilled to follow-up on a significant off-hole conductor defined from the recently completed Crone EM borehole survey on Hole SB-2010-08 that had been drilled last winter.

In addition, Tribute has recently received the results from the completed helicopter VTEM survey over five claims blocks within its Ring of Fire package. The 960 line-km survey had been flown in June, 2010 by Geotech Ltd. The survey data is being interpreted with the purpose of identifying anomalies for follow-up exploration this coming winter.

The technical information in this press release was reviewed and approved by Trevor Boyd, P. Geo., a qualified person (QP) for the purposes of NI 43-101.
