Neonode(R) Signs Long-Term License Agreement with Alpine for Next Generation In-Vehicle Touch Infotainment Systems



SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jul 12, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Neonode Inc /quotes/zigman/9848316/quotes/nls/neon NEON +1.64% , the MultiSensing(TM) touch technology company, announced today that it has entered into a multi-year licensing agreement with Alpine Electronics Inc., a leading automotive systems and audio specialist, to embed Neononde's patented MultiSensing(TM) technology, that includes the Neonode AlwaysON(TM) and proximity features, into Alpines In-Vehicle Infotainment System products.

The Neonode MultiSensing(TM) solution is a robust optical touch technology, particularly suitable for vehicle displays. Unlike other touch solutions, it detects any type of object, like a gloved hand or a car key. In addition, the Neonode AlwaysON(TM) power saving feature enables gesture activated wake-up of the screen when it is in sleep or off mode. The solution also includes a proximity function that senses objects up to 4 inches away, supporting multi "air gesture" commands without having to actually touch the display surface.

Touch Enables New Ultra High Resolution Laptop-Tablet for Children Worldwide

The innovative OLPC XO Touch 1.75 is a 7.5" combined laptop and tablet that has a Dual-Mode (sunlight-readable) TFT LCD display which rotates 180 degrees and folds flat over the keyboard for tablet/e-book or game mode.

Embedding the Neonode MultiSensing touch solution will allow OLPC to build a completely new type of rugged laptop-tablet that is extremely fast, cost efficient and energy saving, offering 100% visibility in bright sunlight.
