Hier die Mitteilung:MENLO PARK, Calif., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Egghead.com®, Inc. (Nasdaq: EGGS - news), a leading Internet technology retailer, today announced that it is moving approximately 20% of its Menlo Park-based jobs to its Vancouver, WA offices as part of its plan to reach profitability at the end of next year. The company is relocating engineering, technical operations, accounts payable, loss prevention and inventory accounting functions to its offices in Vancouver. The move allows the company to eliminate functional redundancies, locate related positions together, and take advantage of Vancouver`s significantly lower cost-of-living and high employee retention rates.

      (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20000530/EGGHEADLOGO )
``In recent months we have stressed our focus on profitability, and both increasing efficiency and reducing costs are critical to our success,`` said Jeff Sheahan, president and CEO of Egghead.com, Inc. ``Concentrating these key functions in Vancouver makes sense on a number of fronts. First, having our engineering folks together allows us to streamline our technical operations. Second, locating our accounts payable, loss prevention and inventory accounting teams together with the customer service, B2B sales and distribution teams will enable them all to work together more effectively. And finally, with soaring employment costs in Silicon Valley, it makes financial sense.``

Egghead.com has approximately 220 employees in its Menlo Park headquarters. Locating the engineering, technical operations and accounting functions in a geographic area where it is easier to recruit and retain such employees is designed to improve productivity and reduce costs. It does not represent a reduction in force; in fact, Egghead.com plans to add approximately 250 new employees in Vancouver over the next six to nine months, primarily in its outbound telesales force which concentrates on the company`s core Small- to Medium-sized Business (SMB) customers.

``Retaining star employees can be very difficult in Silicon Valley, especially in accounting and engineering functions,`` said Bill Skinner, vice president of human resources for Egghead.com. ``In Vancouver, competition with other employers is less of an issue, there tends to be less turnover and the cost of living is considerably lower. As a result, we believe we can attract and retain high quality employees while reducing our overall operating expenses.``

AUDUBON, PA, Dec 28, 2000 (INTERNET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Many of the top e-commerce Web sites couldn`t process orders for more than 30 minutes a day the week before Christmas, according to a study by WatchDog247.com, a national Web site monitoring company.

Egghead.com (NASDAQ: EGGS ) and Ticketmaster Online (NASDAQ: TMCS ) were among the sites down most frequently while market leaders Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN ) and Yahoo (NASDAQ: YHOO ) were among the best performing sites in the study.

Our estimate is that Egghead.com lost more than $1 million of revenue during the last week of the peak holiday season because buyers couldn`t access their Web site," says Markus Allen, president of WatchDog247.com. "Most Web site owners are unaware that their site is frequently down and as a result their customers can`t place online orders ... costing companies a lot of money."

WatchDog247.com monitored 47 popular e-commerce Web sites during the final leg of the holiday shopping season and tabulated the average downtime per day (in minutes) for the worst three:

Egghead kannste vergessen. Down the Drain.

      @ Zeuser,

Wenn Du was hoeren solltest, stell was hier rein. Danke.

Yopa Push Platform Helps Egghead.com Increase Sales and Enhance Personalized Customer Service for Business and Consumer Audiences

Success of New `In-Stock` Message Program Underscored By Unprecedented 17 Percent Conversion Rate
SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Yopa Inc., provider of the industry`s definitive push platform for generating, delivering, and leveraging requested information, announced today that Egghead.com (Nasdaq: EGGS) has implemented the Yopa Push Platform to support its sales efforts and help improve customer service and retention. In less than six months, Egghead.com, a leading Internet direct marketer of technology and related products, has sold 1.25 million as a result of pushing requested information.

In its initial implementation of Yopa, Egghead.com keeps customers informed of when out-of-stock items are available for purchase. Monitoring the availability status of Egghead`s 70,000 SuperStore products, Yopa manages all information requests, delivering in-stock notices to the customer`s choice of communication device -- including e-mail, pager, mobile or land phone.

"Solutions such as Yopa that can help Egghead `touch` customers in ways they welcome are important to our continued growth. The bottom line is that we have already seen tangible success from this approach with an additional 1.25 million in sales," said Glen Hamilton, vice president of Business and Product Development at Egghead.com. "As we continue extending our reach to the business marketplace, this permission-based, highly personalized contact is extremely important. Moving forward, programs like Yopa`s can help make customer communication easier and more relevant, making buyers more likely to buy, return, and remain loyal."

      Yopa Contributes to Egghead.com Sales

With functionality far more sophisticated than today`s simplistic "alert" applications, Yopa enables companies like Egghead.com to push requested, personalized and actionable information to its customers. As a platform-based solution, Yopa lets Egghead.com easily leverage its SuperStore stock information, and deliver requested information based on any internal or external source and triggered by any number of factors -- to key constituents via any wired, wireless, or voice device. Additionally, Yopa uniquely enables action to be taken from within the message itself -- including from a wireless device, even if an e-businesses is not wirelessly enabled.

In the first five months of use, more than 80,000 users requested "product-in-stock" messages through e-mail, voice and pager. Seventeen percent of the customers receiving in stock notices made purchases as a direct result of the message, resulting in more than 1.25 million in incremental sales.

"Given that marketers consider a 1 conversion rate on opt-in e-mail programs highly successful, the fact that 17 of Egghead`s customer who received pushed messages actually purchased product is an extraordinary success. Moreover, `in-stock` updates are just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what Yopa can offer," said Sunil M. Sanghavi, Yopa chief executive officer. "An even deeper value lies in working with Egghead and other enterprises to develop innovative `push` solutions targeted to the business buyer."

The Yopa Push Platform is the only solution designed to grow with Egghead.com`s needs. In addition to easy integration with enterprise data and pre-built interfaces to multiple devices, it also includes a unique dynamic profiling capability that includes the delivery of personalized content, and mobile commerce capabilities. And, because the solution was implemented as a Yopa-hosted service, Egghead.com did not need to buy, install, or maintain any hardware or software, or re-direct its information systems team.

      About Yopa

Yopa`s mission is to deliver the definitive platform for pushing any voice or text information to any wired or wireless device, and enable companies to leverage this as a competitive business advantage. Forward-thinking organizations use the Yopa Push Platform to enhance employee and stakeholder productivity, create more vibrant customer relationships, and increase transactional and advertising-based revenues, while also reducing costs. Yopa is privately held, with investments from Dr. Pehong Chen, founder and chief executive officer of BroadVision (Nasdaq: BVSN), SunAmerica Ventures, DynaFund Ventures, and Redwood Ventures.
