hallo zusammen,
Und was macht SQNM??

Ich bleibe long.

Brennstoffzellen-Aktien)

Lion: Koop. mit Celera Durchbruch. Dt.Fondsmanger schlachten den Wert, da sonst keine Performance. US.-Shorts drücken ebenfalls.

SEQUENOM and Gemini Identify Genes Linked to Cardiovascular Disease
SAN DIEGO and CAMBRIDGE, England, Nov. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- SEQUENOM(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: SQNM) and Gemini Genomics plc (Nasdaq: GMNI) today announced the first discoveries from their collaboration formed earlier this year, including the identification of two novel genes linked to cardiovascular disease. There was no previously known association of these genes with levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and cholesterol in the blood, key risk factors for heart disease, atherosclerosis and type II diabetes.
These genes were identified using SEQUENOM`s MassARRAY(TM) technology and full genome screen approach and Gemini`s DNA samples and clinical data covering common human metabolic diseases. The companies will commercialize the results by jointly licensing discoveries to pharmaceutical and healthcare companies for the subsequent development of diagnostics and therapeutics.
In addition to the new gene discoveries, SEQUENOM and Gemini have confirmed several previously known associations between genes and HDL and cholesterol levels. Among the identified associations were markers in the cholesterol ester transfer protein (CETP) and other genes previously correlated with HDL levels. These confirmations validated the novel strategy employed in the collaboration which permits disease gene discovery at an unprecedented rate.
"Cardiovascular diseases cause 12 million deaths in the world each year. Within a very short period of time, SEQUENOM and Gemini have identified major genetic contributors to HDL and cholesterol levels, top risk factors for cardiovascular disease," said Toni Schuh, Ph.D., SEQUENOM`s President and Chief Executive Officer. "This information can be used for potential gene-based therapeutics and diagnostic tests for an individual`s susceptibility to cardiovascular disease, bringing us one step closer to eliminating costly and painful diagnostic procedures and ineffective drug prescriptions. The early success of this study was based on the unprecedented data quality and efficiency of our MassARRAY system and automated assay design and the quality and consistency of Gemini`s clinical resources."
"Gemini and SEQUENOM formed the collaboration in April this year with the objective of initiating the largest commercial, prospective mining operation for gene-disease associations ever undertaken. These first results were obtained less than six months since we began work on the collaboration, much sooner than we had anticipated," said Dr. Paul Kelly, Gemini`s President and Chief Executive Officer. "The findings represent a significant breakthrough in our understanding of the causes of cardiovascular disease and offer the very real prospect of developing novel therapeutic and diagnostic solutions for this and other chronic diseases."
Gemini has amassed a vast clinical resource of DNA and associated clinical information that is unparalleled in terms of depth and breadth of human disease coverage. It is this resource, collected with reference to the latest advances in clinical and genetic research within each targeted therapeutic area that provides the potential for partnering with innovative genomics technologies. These partnerships create valuable intellectual property by discovering genes associated with common, chronic human diseases.
For this collaboration, SEQUENOM used its capability to characterize SNPs in pools of hundreds of DNA samples in a single reaction without any further optimization. Through sample pooling, SEQUENOM is able to screen many SNPs across the genomes of many individuals simultaneously to identify SNPs and genes with medical utility rapidly and accurately. This full genome screen approach is possible due to the high data quality of the MassARRAY system.
"SEQUENOM has the ability to analyze SNPs located in virtually all genes of the human genome," said Andreas Braun, M.D., Ph.D., SEQUENOM`s Chief Medical Officer. "More than 400,000 SNP assays are already designed that enable a hypothesis-free validation strategy of human genetic variability in disease populations. The collaboration with Gemini is clearly a proof-of-concept for this scientific strategy, which is available to the life science arena."

"More than 400,000 SNP assays are already designed that enable a hypothesis-free validation strategy of human genetic variability in disease populations. The collaboration with Gemini is clearly a proof-of-concept for this scientific strategy, which is available to the life science arena."

@Antik
Hi!

Quelle: http://www.vectorvest.com
Thank you for requesting an analysis of Sequenom Inc from VectorVest ProGraphics. The ticker symbol for Sequenom Inc is SQNM. SQNM is traded on the NASDAQ.
PRICE: SQNM closed on 12/06/2000 at $17.13 per share.
VALUE: SQNM has a Value of $31.6 per share. Value is the foundation of the VectorVest system. It is a measure of what a stock is currently worth. Value is based upon earnings, earnings growth rate, dividend payments, dividend growth rate, and financial performance. Current interest and inflation rates also play an important role in the computation of Value. When interest and/or inflation rates decrease, Value goes up. When interest rates and inflation increase, Value goes down. Sooner or later a stock`s Price and Value always converge.
RV (Relative Value): SQNM has an RV of 1.41. On a scale of 0.00 to 2.00, an RV of 1.41 is excellent. RV reflects the long-term price appreciation potential of the stock compared to an alternative investment in AAA Corporate Bonds. Stocks with RV ratings above 1.00 have attractive upside potential. A stock will have an RV greater than 1.00 when its Value is greater than Price, and its Relative Safety (see below) and forecasted earnings growth rate are above average. In some cases, however, a stock`s RV will be above 1.00 even though its Value is well below Price. This happens when a stock has an exemplary record of financial performance and an above average earnings growth rate. In this case, the stock is currently selling at a premium, and the investor is banking on future earnings growth to drive the stock`s price higher. This information is very useful not only in knowing whether or not a stock has favorable price appreciation potential, but it also solves the riddle of whether to buy high growth, high P/E, or low growth, low P/E stocks. We believe that RV ratings above 1.00 are required to consistently achieve above average capital gains in the stock market.
RS (Relative Safety): SQNM has an RS rating of 0.75. On a scale of 0.00 to 2.00, an RS of 0.75 is poor. VectorVest looks at safety from the viewpoint of an equity investor (one who is buying stock of a company) rather than that of a purchaser of debt (one who is lending money to the company). From this perspective, consistency of financial and operating performance, stock price appreciation history, and price volatility are the key factors used in the evaluation of Relative Safety (RS). Debt to equity ratio, capitalization, sales volume, business longevity and other factors are also considered, but to a lesser degree.
VectorVest favors steady, predictable performers. All stocks are rated on a scale of 0.00 to 2.00. A stock with an RS greater than 1.00 is safer and more predictable than the average of all stocks. A stock with an RS less than 1.00 is less predictable and riskier than the average stock.
RT (Relative Timing): SQNM has an RT rating of 0.18. On a scale of 0.00 to 2.00, an RT of 0.18 is very poor. RT is a fast, responsive, short-term price trend indicator. It analyzes the direction, magnitude, and dynamics of a stock`s price behavior over the last 13 weeks; then reflects and projects the short-term price performance of the stock. Once a stock`s Price has established a strong trend, it is expected to continue that trend for the short-term. If the trend dissipates, RT will gravitate towards 1.00. Should the price change dramatically, RT will notice the crucial turning point. When warranted, it will explode from a Price low and dive from a Price high.
All stocks are rated on a scale of 0.00 to 2.00. If RT is above 1.00,the stock`s Price is in an uptrend. Below 1.00, the stock`s Price is in a downtrend.
VST-Vector (VST): SQNM has a VST-Vector rating of 0.84. On a scale of 0.00 to 2.00, an VST of 0.84 is poor. VST-Vector solves the dilemma of balancing Value, Safety and Timing. Stocks with high RV values often have low RS values, or stocks with low RV and RS values have high RT`s. How can we find the stocks with the best combinations of Value, Safety, and Timing?
The classic vector formula (square root of the sum of the squares) handles this problem. It combines a set of forces into a single indicator for ranking every stock in the VectorVest database. Stocks with the highest VST-Vector have the best combinations of Value, Safety and Timing. These are the ones to own for above average capital application.
GRT (Growth Rate): SQNM has a GRT of 25 % per year. This is excellent. GRT stands for forecasted Earnings Growth Rate in percent per year. GRT is updated each week for every stock. Watch GRT trends very carefully. If the GRT trend is up, the stock`s Price will likely rise. If the GRT trend is down, the stock`s Price will increase more slowly, cease to increase, or subsequently fall.
Recommendation (REC): SQNM has a Sell recommendation. REC reflects the cumulative effect of all the VectorVest parameters working together. These parameters are designed to help investors buy safe, undervalued stocks which are rising in price, and to avoid or sell risky, overvalued stocks which are falling in price.
VectorVest is tuned to give an "H" or "B" signal when a stock`s price is approximately 10% above a recent low, and an "S" signal when the stock`s price is approximately 10% below a recent high. High RV, RS stocks are favored toward receiving "B" REC`s, and sheltered from receiving "S" RECs.
STOP-PRICE: SQNM has a Stop-Price of 23.39 per share. This is 6.26 or 36.5 % above its current closing Price. VectorVest analyzes over 7,400 stocks each day for Value, Safety and Timing, and calculates a Stop-Price for each stock. These Stop-Prices are based upon 13 week moving averages of closing prices, and are fine-tuned according to each stock`s fundamentals.
In the VectorVest system, a stock gets a "B" or an "H" recommendation if its price is above its Stop-Price, and an "S" recommendation if its price is below its Stop-Price.
DIV (Dividend): SQNM does not pay a dividend. VectorVest focuses on annual, regular, cash dividends indicated by the most recent disbursement. Special distributions, one-time payments, stock dividends, etc., generally are not included in Dividend (DIV).
DY (Dividend Yield): SQNM has a DY of 0 percent. This is below the current market average of 1.1 %. DY equals 100 x (DIV/PRICE), and is expressed as a percentage.
EY (Earnings Yield): SQNM has an EY of -8.36%. This is below the current market average of 3.83%. EY equals 100 x (EARNINGS PER SHARE/PRICE), and is expressed as a percentage.
EPS (Earnings Per Share): SQNM has an EPS of $-1.43 per share. EPS stands for leading 12 months Earnings Per Share. VectorVest determines this forecast from a combination of recent earnings performance and traditional fiscal and/or calendar year earnings forecasts.
P/E (Price to Earnings Ratio): SQNM has a P/E ratio of -11.98. This ratio is computed daily based upon Price and EPS. P/E = Price/EPS.
GPE (Growth to P/E Ratio): SQNM has a GPE of -2.09. This ratio suggests that SQNM is overvalued. Growth to P/E ratio is a popular measure of stock valuation which compares Earnings Growth Rate (GRT) to Price Earnings ratio (P/E). A stock is considered to be undervalued when GPE is greater than 1.00, and vice-versa. VectorVest believes that RV is a much better indicator of long-term value. The RV of 1.41 for SQNM is excellent.
DS (Dividend Safety): SQNM has a DS of 0. On a scale of 0 to 99, a DS of 0 is poor. DS is defined as the assurance that regular cash dividends will be declared and paid at current or at higher rates for the foreseeable future. Stocks with DS values above 50 on a scale of 0 to 99 are above average in safety.
RISK (Dividend Risk): SQNM does not pay a dividend. All stocks in the VectorVest system that pay dividends are classified as having Low, Medium or High Dividend Risk (RISK). Stocks with DS values above 50 are above average in safety. These stocks are classified as having LOW or MEDIUM RISK. Stocks with DS values below 50 are below average in safety and are classified as having HIGH Risk.
DG (Dividend Growth): SQNM has a DG of 0 percent per year. Dividend Growth is a subtle yet important indicator of a company`s historical financial performance and the board`s current outlook on the future use of funds.
YSG-VECTOR (Yield-Safety-Growth Vector): SQNM has a YSG-Vector of 0. On a scale of 0.00 to 2.00, a YSG-Vector rating of 0 is very poor. VectorVest combines Dividend YIELD, SAFETY and GROWTH into a single parameter. YSG-Vector allows direct comparison of all dividend paying stocks. Stocks with the highest YSG-Vector values have the best combinations of Dividend Yield, Safety and Growth. These are the stocks to buy for above average current income and long-term growth.
VOL(100)s: SQNM traded 351800 shares on 12/06/2000.
AVG VOL(100)s: SQNM has an Average Volume of 424000. Average Volume is 50 day moving average of daily volume as computed by VectorVest.
% VOL: SQNM had a Volume change of -17% from its 50 day moving average volume.
OPEN: SQNM opened trading at $18.63 per share on 12/06/2000.
HIGH: SQNM traded at a high of $18.88 per share on 12/06/2000.
LOW: SQNM traded at a low of $17.00 per share on 12/06/2000.
CLOSE: SQNM Closed trading at $17.13 per share on 12/06/2000.
% PRC: SQNM showed a Price change of -4.9% from the prior day`s closing price.
INDUSTRY: SQNM has been assigned to the Drug (BiomedicalGenetic) Group. VectorVest classifies stocks into over 190 Industry Groups and 50 Business Sectors.
SQNM has well below average safety with well above average upside potential. It reflects a stock which is likely to give well above average, inconsistent returns over the long term.
The basic strategy of VectorVest is to buy low risk, high reward stocks. We suggest that Prudent investors buy enough high Relative Value, high Relative Safety stocks to keep the overall RV and RS ratings of their portfolios above 1.00. As you do this, you`ll find that your risk will go down and your investment performance will improve. Not a bad combination. Thank you for your interest in VectorVest ProGraphics.

Meine Wahl WO- User des Jahres 2000 fällt uneingeschränkt auf
den 60 jährigen User mit den Namen AKTIENFILTER
Liebe Wallstreet-Online Gemeinde,

Restrisiko 15$. Chance 2000 über 30$. Chance 2001: 80-100$
Jetzt sind wir schon 20% unterhalb des "Restrisikos"...

SEQUENOM Reports Second Quarter 2001 Financial Results
Product Demand Drives Revenue Growth; Disease Gene Discoveries Accelerate Downstream Momentum
SAN DIEGO, July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- SEQUENOM(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq: SQNM - news) today reported consolidated financial results for the three and six months ended June 30, 2001.
Revenue for the quarter ended June 30, 2001 was $7.4 million, compared to $1.9 million for the same period in 2000, primarily driven by MassARRAY(TM) product sales and revenue from genomics services provided to the Company`s collaborators. Revenue for the six-month period ended June 30, 2001 increased to $12.6 million, compared to $3.5 million for the same period in 2000.
Total costs and expenses for the quarter increased to $17.6 million from $10.0 million for the second quarter of 2000. Expense increase during the quarter was primarily driven by expansion of the Company`s disease gene discovery efforts at its high-throughput genotyping facility in San Diego. For the six-month period, expenses were $31.9 million compared to $23.0 million for the same period in 2000.
The net loss for the second quarter was $8.7 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $5.6 million, or $0.23 per diluted share, for the second quarter of 2000. The net loss for the six-month period was $15.7 million, or $0.65 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $20.0 million, or $0.86 per pro forma diluted share, for the same period in 2000.
On June 30, 2001, the Company held cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments totaling $114.3 million.
``We began selling our MassARRAY system in January 2000, and this is now our fourth consecutive quarter with revenues increasing at a growth rate of over 35 percent,`` said Steve Zaniboni, SEQUENOM`s Chief Financial Officer. ``We continue to meet a strong demand for our MassARRAY product line, which is largely accepted as the most powerful genotyping technology within this rapidly growing segment of the DNA analysis market. We are particularly pleased with consumables sales of more than three million tests purchased during the quarter, representing an increase of 50 percent compared to the previous quarter.``
Company highlights during the quarter included:
-- Expansion of candidate disease gene portfolio. Over the quarter,
SEQUENOM increased its portfolio of candidate disease genes from 30 to
more than 50. Each of these candidate disease genes is believed to be
associated with human diseases affecting large portions of the
population. The Company continues to expand its intellectual property
position to cover the candidate genes it discovers using its
populations genetics approach. The Company also offers services to
life science companies for genetic marker analysis and to
pharmaceutical companies to prioritize leads based on population
impact.
-- Transitioning disease gene discoveries into diagnostic and drug
development. SEQUENOM announced in June its in-house biotherapeutics
initiative, which should leverage maximum value from its disease gene
discoveries. The Company will select the most compelling targets to
transition into clinical development using in-house resources that will
be significantly expanded over the next 12 months. SEQUENOM intends to
license selected targets to pharmaceutical companies through
collaborative agreements. Also during the quarter, SEQUENOM announced
a collaboration with Morphochem AG to develop novel drug candidates for
type 2 diabetes and cancer. The collaboration will utilize
Morphochem`s unique chemical genomics approach to validate disease
genes discovered by SEQUENOM.
-- Strong demand for MassARRAY technology. SEQUENOM continues to build
upon its leadership position in providing high-throughput genotyping
systems, software and related consumables. The Company sold 16 systems
during the first half of 2001 for a total of 38 since the product`s
commercial launch at the beginning of 2000. New customers during the
quarter included BioServe Biotechnologies, Centagenetix, LGC Ltd.,
University of Massachusetts Medical School, Indiana University School
of Medicine, University of Texas Health Science Center, Wake Forest
University School of Medicine and Weizmann Institute of Science in
Israel.
-- Increased capabilities offered to MassARRAY customers. SEQUENOM
introduced two new products during the quarter that each offer improved
efficiency and increased throughput to MassARRAY customers. The
SpectroPOINT(TM) sample spotter significantly increases the rate of
transferring samples in preparation for large-scale genotyping. The
SpectroPOINT is capable of spotting nearly 4,000 samples in a single
run without the need for user intervention. The newly introduced
SpectroTYPER RT(TM) data analysis software provides real-time data and
automated calibration that reduce the analysis per sample to less than
two seconds.
Company organizational highlights include:
-- Proposed merger with Gemini Genomics. The combination of SEQUENOM`s
technology and disease gene discovery program with Gemini`s clinical
resources is expected to significantly expand SEQUENOM`s ability to
perform disease gene association studies. SEQUENOM believes that the
merger with Gemini should provide a pipeline of validated, high-impact
genes for downstream development of diagnostic and therapeutic
products. SEQUENOM expects the merger to be finalized in late
September.
-- Expansion into Biotherapeutics. SEQUENOM, Inc. will operate SEQUENOM
Genomics and SEQUENOM Biotherapeutics. SEQUENOM Genomics will focus on
MassARRAY product sales, genomics collaborations, and disease gene
identification and validation programs. SEQUENOM Biotherapeutics will
apply technologies to transition disease genes into drugs and
diagnostics. Partnering opportunities may exist at any point along the
therapeutic development process, with a focus on licensing later-stage,
higher-value discoveries. SEQUENOM Biotherapeutics will also seek
strategic partners to leverage additional value from Gemini`s extensive
clinical resources.
``By now it is clear that market demand has established SEQUENOM`s MassARRAY product line as the leading large-scale genetic analysis technology. Now we are using this technology in combination with a population genetics strategy to build what we believe will be one of the most valuable intellectual property positions in the industry -- namely on genes associated with major human diseases,`` said Toni Schuh, Ph.D., SEQUENOM`s President and Chief Executive Officer.

@smartcap: Was für eine Pipeline?
