OPERATIONS UPDATE AND FINANCIAL REVIEW FOR SIX MONTHS TO 30 JUNE 2012
http://www.londonmining.co.uk/full-operations-update-June201…
Iron Ore Division Overview
London Mining has total iron ore resources of 2.2 billion tonnes with targeted production of over 30Mtpa of high grade concentrates planned from its projects in Sierra Leone, Greenland and Saudi Arabia. Our strategy is to provide a viable alternative to the diversified miners and upstream integration by selecting assets with unique competitive advantages and high margin potential in countries with a national interest in mining. For example:
Marampa (Sierra Leone) has a short lead time to production and is located in a region of significant geological potential
Isua (Greenland) will produce a high quality magnetite concentrate
Wadi Sawawin (Saudi Arabia) benefits from a low energy costs and a significant supply gap in the Middle East and North Africa region

Isua is located 150km Northeast of Nuuk and 100km from a proposed deep seawater port. Isua will produce a premium quality 70% Fe pellet feed concentrate with low impurities and benefits from its position in the warmer south-west corner of Greenland which allows for year round shipping.
In March 2010, London Mining reported a JORC resource estimate completed by Snowden Mining Industry Consultants of 951Mt at 36% Fe. A PFS for a 10Mtpa open pit and processing operation from an initial 451Mt open pit mine plan was completed by SNC Lavalin in June 2010. The June 2010 PFS considered a 10Mtpa operation with a 21 year initial mine life and estimated capital expenditure of USD 1.7 billion. In February 2011 London Mining released the results of a 15Mtpa scoping study completed by SNC Lavalin.
The scoping study considered a 15Mtpa open pit and processing operation with a 15 year initial mine life for estimated capital expenditure of USD 2.0 billion, representing a 22% reduction in capital intensity. Operating costs increased from USD 27 to USD 29/t mostly due to a 20% increase in fuel costs. The scoping study was based on capital and operational cost estimates to a level of accuracy of -30% to +40% with Chinese contractors CCCC and Sinosteel, providing engineering support and cost estimates for certain capital items. The 15Mtpa scoping study and detailed work undertaken for the 10Mtpa PFS is to form the basis of a 15Mtpa bankable feasibility study (“BFS”) which has already commenced and is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011.
Highlights of the two studies are as follows:

London Mining has now completed three seasons of exploration drilling, further to previous drilling which took place during the 1970s, with drill holes from the 2010 campaign to be included in a new resource estimate as part of further feasibility work. The 2010 drill data will be augmented by a further campaign of 7,000 to 8,000 metres of drilling to be undertaken in 2011 to allow conversion of all necessary resources currently in the Inferred category to be upgraded to Indicated. In addition, all necessary base line data collections, advanced field drilling programs, (EIA) and Social Impact Assessments (SIA) have been, or are expected to be undertaken to allow completion of a full BFS by the end of 2011 with construction estimated to start in 2012 and first production at the beginning of 2015. London Mining is investigating strategies to fund the BFS programme by selling a minority stake at project level and also plans to introduce a strategic partner to provide funding for construction. A separate listing for Isua is also being considered.

Emerging Markets Investor - London Mining-Aktie: spottbillig zu haben
17.07.12
(Ausgabe 14 vom 16.07.2012) (17.07.2012/ac/a/a)

Results of the Marampa life of mine study
25 Sep 2013
40 year operation at 6Mdmt/a with average life of mine operating cost below USD45/dmt
Highlights
Probable JORC reserve reported of 539Mt at 31.1% Fe, sufficient for >40 year mine life
USD240 million to be spent in 2015 and 2016 to extend mine life after depletion of tailings
USD40 million to be spent in 2014 on optimisation of processing facilities to expand production to 6Mdmt/a
Life of mine average operating cost estimated to be between USD42/dmt to USD45/dmt
Life of mine strip ratio reduced from 1.2 : 1 to 0.5 : 1
No material increase in debt facilities required to fund life of mine extension and expansion to 6Mdmt/a.
Graeme Hossie, Chief Executive of London Mining said:
“We are pleased to announce today, in line with previous guidance, that an investment of USD240 million to upgrade the plant to process all ore types will extend the Marampa mine life to over 40 years based on probable reserves of over 500Mt. Our life of mine feasibility study has also shown that production at Marampa can be increased further by simple optimisation of the existing plant to a rate of 6Mdmt/a in 2014 at an estimated additional cost of USD40 million. The incremental expansion and other initiatives identified by the feasibility study will reduce average operating costs to USD42/dmt to USD45/dmt over the life of mine. This reduction in our operating cost base, along with overhead reduction and a move to larger vessels, will enable us to be profitable in most long term downside pricing scenarios. We expect to be able fund our capital programme through the reinvestment of cash flows from the expanded operation requiring no significant increase to our total debt facility position.”
Jim North, Chief Operating Officer of London Mining said:
“The Life of Mine study shows that the Marampa operation can be extended through a simple upgrade of the processing plant based on proof of concept of the existing flowsheet and logistics. The investment in a plant that can process all ore types has enabled us to reduce the life of mine strip ratio by half. The production increase to 6Mdmt/a is a low risk exercise achieved by optimisation of the existing plant. We are now focussed on reducing unit costs through economies of scale and a move to activity based contracts where possible. We have commenced work on measures which should enable us to load larger vessels in 2014.”

Iron ore miner London Mining agrees offtake with Cargill
Reuters reported that Sierra Leone focused London Mining has signed an offtake agreement with commodity trading giant Cargill as it posted core profit below analysts' expectations.
As part of the agreement Cargill will receive 1 million tonnes of iron ore concentrate from London Mining's Marampa mine in Sierra Leone for five years. The trader will make a pre payment to the miner of USD 20 million.
London Mining had previous signed offtake agreements with two other large commodity traders, Glencore and Vitol, for a total of nearly four million tonnes a year.

London Mining shares collapse on funding fears
Iron ore producer London Mining’s (LON:LOND) shares hit record lows on Monday as the firm warned it did not have sufficient cash to operate its only mine.
The company stock was down 54% to 11.25 pence at 2:35 pm GMT, hitting an all time low of 10 pence (a 59% loss) during morning trading. It has lost 90% of its value since the start of the year.
The announcement comes barely a week after the miner revealed it might end an iron ore supply contract with Glencore (LON:GLEN) over a pricing dispute.
The owner of the Marampa mine in Sierra Leone, however, said it was in talks with a potential strategic investor. If successful this would significantly dilute existing shareholders and require a new capital structure, but would take a number of weeks to implement.
The miner is just one of the most recent casualties in the iron ore market.
The miner is just one of the most recent casualties in the iron ore market. Companies big and small are suffering from record low prices for iron ore in the face of oversupply and weak demand from key consumer China.
Adding to the company’s issues is the Ebola outbreak in western Africa, which London Mining said last month was starting to hit its supply chain and its expected output this year from Marampa.
The company has already trimmed its full-year iron ore production forecast, deferred a $175 million extension plan for the mine by two years and put off $20 million of non-essential capital expenditure because of weak prices

Further to the announcement made on 29 September 2014, detailed discussions are ongoing with potential strategic investors, London Mining Plc (the “Company”) and the Company’s bank lender group. Under the structures currently proposed, the Board believes that there will be little or no value remaining in the equity of the Company and the other listed securities of the Group.

...London Mining Plc (the "Company") announces that the only strategic investors now remaining in the process are those whose proposals are not expected to contemplate the continuation of London Mining Plc, the listed legal entity, as a going concern. As previously announced, discussions were ongoing with potential strategic investors about structures which the Board believed would result in little or no value in the equity of the Company but the discussions with the investor which might have resulted in little value in the equity have ended. As a consequence the Directors have requested the immediate suspension of the trading on AIM of the ordinary shares and trading on Channel Islands Securities Exchange of the convertible bonds. It is anticipated that further funding in to the Sierra Leone operation and potentially other development assets would be provided by a strategic investor if the discussions are successful. - Meinungen ?
