Song Jiaguo Work Program Commences
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Majestic Gold Corp. is pleased to announce work has begun on its Song Jiaguo prospect on Muping Property located in eastern Shandong Province, China. The 2006 program is designed to:
• Upgrade and increase the resource through infill drilling of the core from surface and underground
• Define high-grade controls
• Test the extension of the known mineralized zone along strike and at depth
• Evaluate the remainder of the property for other potential targets
• Collect sufficient data to commence a pre-feasibility study by late 2006
The drill program will consist of approximately 4,500 metres of infill drilling from surface and 1,500 metres of drilling underground into the heart to better define the core of the project. Two holes have been completed and the core has been logged. Sampling is in progress and initial assay results are expected within one month.
Results of the initial resource estimate, calculated using three different statistical methods, were first released on April 25, 2006. This included an inferred resource of between 60 and 68 million tonnes grading from 0.36 to 0.40 grams per tonne for a total gold resource of between 770,000 and 792,000 ounces (using 0.1 g/t cut-off). Included in the estimate are 13.2 to 14.4 million tonnes grading from 0.77 to 0.97 grams per tonne for a gold resource of between 356,000 and 414,000 ounces (using 0.5 g/t cut-off).
The results are reported using a 0.1 g/t cut-off for information purposes to better demonstrate the potential size of the mineralized material. Further drilling will be required to increase the grade in order for this resource to be considered significant.
"In order to achieve the maximum drill hole density for the resource calculation, historical holes drilled by the Chinese were included in the modeling," said John Zimmerman, Majestic's head of exploration. "The Chinese only sampled core that appeared to be mineralized and as a result left long sections of core unsampled. These intervals were also included in the model but with zero grade. While it cannot be known what the actual grade of these unsampled intervals would be, our experience at Song Jiaguo tells us it is likely that there are numerous low-grade intervals in those areas. Thus, the inclusion of these older holes with zero grade likely understated the actual resource grade that exists.
"The current drill program will rectify this discrepancy by infill drilling near many of the Chinese drill holes. Assaying the entire length of these holes will provide much more accurate data for use in the resource model and may allow for an upgrading in category and could also result in an increase in the overall grade of the resource."
High-grade controls are also being delineated at this time. "Initial results indicate that the most important faults have an orientation of approximately N60E with a dip of 50 to 75 degrees to the southeast," Zimmerman said. "This is an important revision to the previous model which had the mineralized zones along a N45E direction with a dip of about 80 degrees. We will continue our efforts along these lines with the ultimate goal of defining each of these structures with enough detail to include them as separate zones in the resource model. Once completed, this will enable modeling to use a higher capping level on the high-grade values in the resource model which should increase the overall resource grade."
The soil sampling program has been completed and covered the entire 4.1 square kilometer main license area with approximately 440 samples; geochemical results are expected at any time. Surface mapping and prospecting has commenced and an Induced Polarization ("IP") survey will begin shortly. The IP survey will also cover the entire main license as well as the northern prospective portion of the Song Jiaguo Extension licenses. Reconnaissance work there has already exposed two historical workings in highly prospective pyrite-sericite-feldspar zones several meters wide and several hundred meters long. Majestic is planning to further explore the area and properly define these targets for drilling later in the current program.
The Company is also pleased to announce the appointment of Warren Thompson as project manager at Song Jiagou. Mr. Thompson has a Masters Degree in Geology with over 23 years professional exploration experience in supervision and management of advanced development gold projects as well as in the oil and gas industry. He was instrumental in developing world-class gold mines within the Getchell and Battle Mountain/Eureka Trends of Nevada and has worked for such companies as Barrick Gold Exploration Inc. and Santa Fe Pacific Gold Corp. His expertise lies in geological, geochemical, and geophysical data assessment of gold properties as well as geologic modeling and technical management. Majestic welcomes Mr. Thompson to the team and looks forward to on-going success in China with his involvement.
