http://www.sueddeutsche.de/z5m38C/49267/Massenflucht-nach-Vu… man sollte dies lieber einmal hinterfragen und sich über Auswirkungen auf Entspannungen der Erdkruste Gedanken machen-nämlich so wie sich dies hier darstellt gibt es wohl dieses Jahr kein Vulkanausbruch irgendwo auf Sumatra sondern wohl ein Erdbeben bedingt durch die Entspannung hervorgerufen durch den Vulkanausbruch in Chile-und dieses Erdbeben könnte ein Tsunami auslösen und in den hafen von Gebeng einlaufen.

Ich bin doch kein Rohstoff. Und wenn Websin wenigstens vor 5tagen darauf hingewiesen hätte das der Kurs fällt weil ein Angriff stattfindet wäre dies für einige Anleger informativer und ökonomischer weil sie ihr Kapital zwischenzeitlich anderswo einstellen hätten können aber so wird man ja gleich dumm angemacht wenn man auf Kurse hinweist-gleich am ersten Tag meines Besuches in diesem Thread aber so ist der deutsche Banker-möchte ja immer etwas höher stehen und lieber einige Cent an Wertverlust ertragen-da wird schon lieber etwas mehr Zeit in Imagepflege investiert.

Given the following (sourced from links below):

1. Japan will source 25% of its REE supplies from Lynas.

2. Japan is Malaysia's 2nd largest import partner.

4. Japan has been the 3rd largest investor in Malaysia since 2006.

I'm sure Japan will be applying a fair bit of pressure on Malaysia for the LAMP to proceed. Hard to imagine the government putting a few paranoid protesters ahead of such an import trading partner.

die Parteien sollen einmal sich überlegen was sie sich da anschauen oder über was sie urteilen(in wenigen Minuten geh ich zum Bäcker und geh dabei an einer grünen Wiese vorbei-und könnte festzustellen,dass von hier aus eine ernstzunehmende Gefahr ausgehen könnte wenn da eine chemiefabrik gebaut werde könnte und ich jetzt dagegen protestiere)?
nein nein,die Experten hätten sich alles auch von daheim auf dem Papier ansehen können wie die Anlage gebaut werden soll und könnten später wenn sie in Betrieb geht alles überprüfen wie viel von was freigesetzt wird oder auch nicht.

Lynas is deeply concerned and offended with the latest false statements and inferences Dr Chan Chee Koon, a professor of health and social policy at Universiti Sains Malaysia made against Lynas Corporation and the Lynas Advanced Materials Plan. In the article by the Malaysian Insider, “Expert warns that Kuantan residents will be lab rats”, Dr Chan Chee Koon made false allegations against Lynas questioning the company’s business integrity and radiation assessment conducted by the plant.



As part of obtaining the company’s staged approval process, Lynas has been granted approvals from the Department of Environment, Atomic Energy Licensing Board and Nuclear Malaysia proving the safety of the Lynas Advanced Material Plant. To claim that Lynas would make the Kuantan community “lab rats” is completely false and misleading to the public.



In addition, making comparisons with Bukit Merah is just irresponsible. Lynas has repeatedly stated that the Lynas raw material processed in Malaysia is not the same as the raw material processed at Bukit Merah. The Asian Rare Earth raw material tin tailings contained thorium levels 50 times higher than the raw material used in the LAMP plant. Since the Bukit Merah incident, the Malaysian government has now tightened regulatory processes severely. Nobody wants to see a repeat of Bukit Merah, as not only was it a tremendous tragedy but a huge cost to the government, community and company.



At Lynas, safety comes first. We are steadfast in our commitment to the health of our employees, business partners, the communities around us and the planet at large. We are confident that the review that LAMP plant will confirm the plant’s safety and present no hazard to the community or Lynas workers.

Lynas plant: Panel to focus on health concerns

The independent panel promises to look into public health and safety concerns when making its decision.

PUTRAJAYA: The independent panel formed to review the controversial RM700 million rare earth plant has promised to take into account public health and safety concerns when making its decision.

“It is true that we represent IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) which works with radiation protection and safety. But keep in mind that the standards we use are based on public health concerns, so safety measures are implemented.

“The health and protection of workers, the public and environment will be ensured,” said Magnus Vesterlind, IAEA’S head of waste and environmental safety.

Vesterlind also confirmed that the panel visited the site of the refinery in Gebeng, Pahang, but declined to comment on what it discovered.

He said that the panel will have to compare notes before reaching any definite conclusion.

Vesterlind said the panel will be interviewing Sahabat Alam Malaysia and the Institute of Engineers Malaysia, after which it will draft recommendations and submit it to the government.

“We have also encouraged the government to make the report publicly available when finished,” he added.

Today is the last day for the panel, formed by the IAEA, to meet with stakeholders. It will then begin a month-long review to decide on the fate of the refinery and the risks of radiation pollution.

Environmental concerns

PKR’s Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh has criticised the Lynas independent review panel for lacking a holistic approach in its examination.

“The panel admitted that there is no public health expert on the panel. Our stand is that no recommendation by the panel can be considered, no matter how thorough it is,” she said after meeting the panel in Kuantan earlier this week.

She added that the recommendations cannot be enforced because they are purely technical and does not take into account environmental concerns.

The RM700 million refinery is being constructed by Australia’s Lynas Corp, which plans to ship rare earth ore mined from Western Australia’s Mount Weld to the Gebeng plant by September.

The plant is expected to meet up to 30% of the world’s demand for rare earths outside China. Rare earth elements are used in devices for defence, alternative energy and communications.

The rare earth plant has evoked fears of radiation contamination as residents desperately seek to stop the construction of the world’s largest refinery.

International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed promised to make public the panel’s findings and recommendations in the interests of transparency.

However, Lynas Corp does not expect its plans to be derailed regardless of the government review, and maintains that the plant is safe.

The plant anticipates revenue of RM8 billion per year from 2013 onwards .
