      5th Resource and Reserve Update
      http://stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=LYC&E=ASX&N=882989
      5 October 2015
Mount Weld Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve Update 2015

Lynas Corporation Limited (ASX:LYC, OTC:LYSDY) announces that the Mount Weld
Mineral Resource and Ore Reserves have been updated as at 31 August 2015. The
previous Ore Reserves update was announced on 21 September 2012.

      Highlights:

 The updated Mineral Resource and Ore Reserves statement confirms the
physical robustness and the quality of the Mt Weld deposit. The Mineral Resource
and Ore Reserves have not significantly changed despite updated inputs, most
notably a reduction of 50% in the assumed selling price.
 The Ore Reserves represent more than 25 years of economic, continuous
operations based on the estimated production of 22,000 tonnes per annum REO
      of finished products.
 The Mineral Resource estimate at the Central Lanthanide Deposit and the
Duncan Deposit as at 31 August 2015 are now 23.2 million tonnes, at an average
grade of 7.5% REO for a total of 1.73 million tonnes of contained REO.
 The Ore Reserves at the Central Lanthanide Deposit as at 31 August 2015 are
now 9.9 million tonnes, at an average grade of 10.8% REO, for a total of 1.08
      million tonnes of contained REO.
 The minor changes to the Mineral Resource and Ore Reserves mostly reflect the
exclusion of a small amount of material that is now considered to have poor
metallurgical recovery, the consumption of some material via processing over the
past 3 years and other factors as detailed below.
In announcing the latest Ore Reserves, Lynas Non-Executive Chairman, Mike Harding,
said “The updated Ore Reserves confirm that Mount Weld deposit is physically robust to
changing market conditions. With very little change in overall pit design, these Ore
Reserve works confirm Mount Weld’s status as one of the richest rare earths deposits in
the world. The Ore Reserves represent more than 25 years of continuous operations at
a rate of 22,000 tonnes per annum REO”.

Congratulations to Amanda and the whole Lynas Team !

Rare-earth elements are poised for a recovery

      By Myra P. Saefong
      Published: Aug 19, 2015 12:53 p.m. ET

Prices for rare earths could be making a comeback.

Commodities have seen a broad decline, but prices for rare-earth elements are poised for a recovery.

That may come as a surprise following the bankruptcy filing by U.S. rare-earth miner and producer Molycorp Inc. earlier this year, and given the uncertainty surrounding metals demand and the economy in China, a country which controls nearly all of the world’s rare-earth market.

But “don’t ignore the rare-earth sector because of low rare-earth prices and the failure of the Western producers,” Jeb Handwerger, president of Mining Development Corp., told MarketWatch in an email interview.

“Eventually, the Chinese producers will be unable to supply the world with cheap rare earths,” he said. “Demand is rising rapidly, especially in military technologies, clean energy and smartphones/tablets” and supply risks remain.

Rare earths, comprised of about 17 elements with such names as lanthanum, cerium and yttrium, serve as vital components in everything from lasers and optical fibers to petroleum refining, automotive parts, computer monitors, lighting and televisions.

Back in 2009, China tightened exports on “critical rare earths,” driving prices higher and fueling the start of a “bubble in junior mining rare-earth stocks, where any piece of moose pasture had rare earths in it,” said Handwerger. Read the Rare earths offer unique investment opportunity story from 2009

“Since that time, the rare-earth sector has seen a major wipeout,” he said.

Lanthanum oxide was priced at an estimated $5 a kilogram at the end of 2014, compared with $59 to $61 a kilogram at year-end 2010, while prices for cerium oxide fell to $4 to $5 from $60 to $62 over the same period, according to a report from the U.S. Geological Survey, citing subscription-based data from Metal-Pages Ltd.

In the stock market, Handwerger pointed out that “institutional favorites,” such as Lynas Corp. Ltd. LYC, -5.00% LYSCF, -3.07% took big hits, or, as in the case of Molycorp, filed for bankruptcy.

Lynas Corp.’s U.S. shares trade around 3 cents, compared with $2.16 in 2010. Molycorp filed for bankruptcy protection in June of this year, hit by slumping commodity prices and waning demand from China.

Prices for rare-earth elements have continued to fall despite China’s new tax regime, said Melanie Debono, assistant economist at Capital Economics, in a research note. China levied a resource tax in May on rare earths based on value rather than volume.

Debono said it’s likely “only a matter of time before higher taxes and positive demand fundamentals translate into a recovery in prices.”

Some firms have already started to pass on higher costs to consumers, and many Chinese rare-earth element producers are reportedly operating at a loss and may have to close by year-end, Debono said.

China wants to keep control of its “rare-earths monopoly” so it drives down prices to force competitors to shutter operations, Handwerger said. But “as competitors shut down or go bankrupt, expect to see the rare-earth prices to once again rise higher.”

“Don’t be dismayed to see the Chinese invest in overseas projects for pennies on the dollar to take advantage of the next upturn,” said Handwerger, who owns shares in Ucore Rare Metals Inc. UCU, +8.20% UURAF, +7.95% and Pele Mountain Resources GEM, +14.29%

China realizes “the value of the rare-earth market and saw its increased usage in technology decades before the rest of the world,” he said.

Warum?

      Keine Ahnung!
