Man glaubt es kaum, aber Malaysia rangiert im im internationalen Geschäftsranking mit Platz Nr. 12 weit vor Deutschland (Platz 20).

Hoffen wir, dass sich das auch mal für Lynas auszahlt.

Die Wahl Malaysias als Standort war im Prinzip gut, denn die Proteste konnten in der Schärfe nicht erwartet werden. Nach den Wahlen, die die aktuelle Regierung bestätigen werden, wird sich die Beruhigung im SP niederschlagen. Gemeinsam mit den Produktionszahlen. Die werden zwar erst mal nicht berauschend sein, und es wird darauf ankommen, was für eine längerfristige Perspektive Lynas vermitteln wird.

NC war schon immer ein Visionär. Daher erwarte ich für dieses Jahr die Trendwende.

Fällt MCP aus dem Rennen aufgrund der Unfähigkeit, operationell zu konkurrieren, sollte es für Lynas gut aussehen. Als einziger wesentlicher ROW-Versorger mit lowcost-LREE und später HREE.

Ich halte mich nach wie vor aus dem Diskussionsthread, da sich dort nach wie vor zuviele Spinner rumtreiben. Mir reicht es, wenn ich auf Hotcopper mitlese. Da die Protestler um Fuziah nur noch loosen, hat sich auch dort der Pulverdampf etwas verzogen und sobald es nur noch um die Kennzahlen geht und weniger um die Emotionen, wird sich das Einpendeln und Lynas irgendwann so diskutiert werden, wie es sich für einen global Player gehört. Dann verschwinden hoffentlich auch mal die Spinner und Idioten aus den Threads.

Ich wünsche allen in Lynas langfristig Investierten ein glückliches Händchen bei allem.

Interessanter Artikel! Auch ich bin überzeugt davon, dass die Chinesen z.B. auch bzgl. der Opposition in Malaysia die Finger im Spiel hatten und haben und der Welt Geschichten auftischen zum Thema seltene Erden. (Auch ärgert sie noch immer, dass sie bei Lynas nicht mit ins Boot konnten vor Jahren!)

Meiner Überzeugung nach unter folgendem Kalkül:
einerseits sind die Chinesen im Nachhinein verärgert darüber, dass sie über Jahrzehnte ihre seltenen Erden zu Dumpingpreisen verschleudert haben, denn sie besitzen ja doch nur ca. 35% der Gesamt-Vorkommen. Viele umsatzträchtige Technologien sind ohne seltene Erden nun mal nicht machbar, also sind die REE`s bei entsprechenden Preisen und einer bleibenden Monopolstellung eine wertvolle Angelegenheit und mangels Alternativen der Belieferung sonstwo in der Welt könnte man die verarbeitende Industrie doch wunderbar ins eigene Land zwingen so dass diese Rohstoffe doppelt wertvoll sind.
Wie ist das zu bewerkstelligen?
Man schließt die größten der Minen im Land zu einem Großkonzern zusammen. Der besseren Kontrolle wegen, um den Schwarzmarkt zu unterbinden und die Preise und die Ware im Griff zu haben.
Man hält die Preise über ein paar Jahre unten und versucht so entstehende Konkurrenz im Ausland mittels niedriger Preise unwirtschaftlich werden zu lassen. (Würde nicht das erste mal funktionieren). Zudem wird die Opposition in Malaysia bestens unterstützt, damit sie das Ihre dazu beiträgt.
Man hat Ausfuhrzölle auf die seltenen Erden und reduzierte Exportquoten, die nicht ausreichen, die Industrie weltweit ausreichend zu versorgen. Alles unter dem Deckmantel der dringenden Notwendigkeit heraus wegen der jahrelangen Umweltverschmutzungen. Man will die Welt ja nicht unnötig gegen sich aufbringen.
Und wenn nachkommende Hersteller außerhalb Chinas vielleicht erfolgreich boykottiert werden konnten und die niedrigen Preise das Ihre dazu beigetragen haben, ist es geschafft.
Niedrige Exportquoten sind von allen als gegeben akzeptiert. Die ausländische Konkurrenz hat es dank massiver Boykottversuche und dem Preisdumping nicht geschafft.
Die Großindustrie muss schon ins eigene Land kommen, und dort produzieren, wenn sie den Rohstoff haben will! Dann können auch die Preise wieder steigen. Teurer Rohstoff und Arbeitsplätze im eigenen Land. Was will man mehr?

Lynas ramps up rare earth processing in Malaysia

Australia’s Lynas Corporation yesterday commissioned its controversial rare earth plant in Malaysia.

The first delivery of commercial rare earth product is expected in the next few weeks.

In a statement released yesterday Lynas said they have successfully begun cracking and leaching rare earth extraction units and production will continue to ramp up over the next three to four months.

This is another significant milestone for Lynas,” said Lynas executive chairman Nicholas Curtis.

Following the announcement the company’s shares rose 14 per cent.

It was a good day for rare earth companies around the world yesterday with Molycorp and Great Western Minerals also seeing their share prices rise by 9.8 per cent and 4 per cent respectively.

At full production Molycorp, Lynas and Great Western are expected to end China's grip on the rare earth market of which China currently controls more than 95 per cent of the global supply, mining.com reported.

In November Australian Mining reported Lynas had received its first shipment of about 100 containers of rare earth concentrate at the Malaysian plant. At the time the company expected the first kiln feed to take place just a couple of days later.

However, the company has been embroiled in legal action launched by the Save Malaysia, Stop Lynas group which aimed to block Lynas from acquiring a temporary operating licence for the new facility.

“The safe and efficient operation of the LAMP is now a reality, and we are providing real-time data that assures people the LAMP is entirely safe for our local communities and the environment,” Curtis said.

Protests took place outside the company’s Sydney head office in November last year amid concerns from the Greens that radio active waste produced at the Malayasian plant would be shipped back to Australia.

Thousands expected at another anti-Lynas protest

Thousands of cars are expected to swarm the Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (Lamp) in Gebeng on New Year' Eve as Himpunan Hijau mounts a 300km drive for the environment, the movement announced today.

Just like the march from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur last month, Himpunan Hijau chairperson Wong Tack expects the crowd from Kuala Lumpur to start small and grow in size as it reaches its destination, Gebeng.

The gathering is expected to start off from from Kuala Lumpur with one or two thousand cars and motorcycles, Wong said.
It is excepted that when they reach Kuantan in the afternoon, thousands more vehicles would have joined in for the journey to the Lynas plant in the evening, he told a press conference today.

The protest drive is slated to start from Gombak at 8am on Dec 31 and reach Gebeng at 5pm.

Wong said the campaign was to send a message to Lynas to "get out of the country", and for the government to ensure that no laws or procedures are violated.
Met after the press conference, Wong told Malaysiakini that Himpunan Hijau has created a list of companies doing business with Lynas and will, in a week’s time, call for the boycott of these companies.

Financial institutions first target

The companies include Lynas’ suppliers, buyers, service providers and financial institutions, he said, adding that the list was being screened to ensure that no “innocent” companies would be caught in any crossfire.

“We will target the financial institutions first, to cut off their ‘water’ supply,” he added.

Wong also announced during the press conference that various activities would be organised throughout the protest drive, including speeches in Bentong and Kuantan, and the sale of “Biskut Telinga Cap Adnan.” (Adnan brand ‘ear biscuits’).

The biscuits appear to be an attempt to poke fun at Pahang Menteri Besar Adnan Yaakob’s statement that he will cut off his ears and jump into the Pahang River if BN loses the Bentong parliamentary seat in the coming election.

Adnan has since clarified that his statement was a ‘figure of speech’ in expressing his confidence that BN would retain the constituency.

Separately during the press conference, a group dubbed “Malaysian Youth Against Public Hazards” announced that its members would hold a 100-hour hunger strike against Lynas at Dataran Merdeka.

The 27 participants would consume nothing but mineral water from 8pm on Dec 27 until New Year’s Day, the group’s representative Tan Woen Tian (right) said.

The 24-year-old secondary school teacher added that the youngest participant in the hunger strike would be a 14-year-old student and the oldest, Annie Ooi, better known as ‘Auntie Bersih’, who is in her 60s.

Members of the public, Tan said, are also welcome to join in the hunger strike.

Asked whether the Kuala Lumpur City Hall had been informed of their plan, he said it was not.

“It is not necessary as Dataran Merdeka belongs to the rakyat,” Tan asserted.
However, he added, the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, St John’s Ambulance and Parti Sosialis Malaysia central committee member Dr Jeyakumar Devaraj had been informed, in case medical assistance may be required.

Obwohl die Aussagen zur Abfallentsorgung IMHO von Lynas eindeutig sind diese zu 100% in industriel verwertbare und verkaufbare Produkte, die weltweit verkauft werden und damit zu 100% entsorgt sind, zu verwenden, wird weiter über das für und wider und wer was dazu gesagt bzw. versprochen hat diskutiert, ansatt zu überprüfen in welcher Form das Lynas umsetzt.

THE recent news on the Lynas temporary operating licence's (TOL) requirement on the removal of its waste is indeed interesting. One would think that since Lynas was issued with the TOL and it has began operations, it is just a matter of toeing the line and all is nice.

However, last week we have read in the major newspapers of the different interpretations that has come out of the TOL's requirement on its waste. While the government, through the health minister, has said that Lynas is required under its TOL to export all its waste, but it was refuted by Lynas' executive chairman who said exporting its waste was a condition required under the TOL.

The health minister has gone further to say that the TOL's conditions is uploaded on Atomic Energy Licensing Board's (AELB) website for the public to scrutinise. A check on AELB's official website did not reveal the TOL as stated unless it is hidden under a secret link that we are unaware of.

However, the science, technology and innovation minister had earlier told reporters that the government have not considered the need to make the terms of the TOL public.

These different versions from both ministers (who are part of the four ministers assigned by parliament to handle the Lynas issue ) contradict each other.

Even the version offered by the health minister and that of the MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek is slightly different. While the minister has stated that "all of Lynas' waste" are to be exported, Dr Chua had mentioned that "Lynas' waste with radiation emissions of more than one becquerel per gm (1Bq/gm )" is to be exported.

How does the TOL allow one to interpret according to their whims and fancies?

As the general public, we are puzzled how the different versions existed unless there is more than one TOL issued to Lynas. Is somebody trying to imply and interpret the TOL's requirement to his favour? An important document like the TOL should not allow one to have different interpretation on it. Until the terms and conditions of the TOL is known, one does not know which is the real version.

Well here we are:

we have the TOL

we have won the court cases so far, including the one 2 days ago

We have had first feed to the kiln

The LAMP is up and running

The SMSL are starting to hurt, with low morale and low funds

We have guaranteed offtake agreements

We have the Duncan deposit

We still have the Crown and related deposits - thank goodness

We have the Royal family, the ex-Prime Minister, and the current one on our side

So - why has the share price gone back DOWN almost to its previous low? It is 57.5c as I write this, and that is not just the usual Friday afternoon sell-off.

The selling remains relentless, even though the shorting may be slowing down a bit, or at least being covered.

What on earth does this company have to do to get the share price to get back up to where it should be?
