POET TECHNOLOGIES ERREICHT 100-NANOMETER-ZIEL
2014-06-07 RAINER KLUTE 2 KOMMENTARE
Ziel erreicht
“When we started our development effort, we used a 1 µm gate size, but more recently we have scaled to 100 nm.”
Hier stehen keine Konjunktive. Punkt.
Dr. Geoffrey Taylor (Quelle: Empire Club of Canada)
Geoffrey Taylor verrät in seinem Compound-Semiconductor-Artikel weitere interessante Dinge.
“Further scaling of our device portfolio is required. That should not prove too tricky, as based on our preliminary work on logic devices with 100 nm feature sizes, it is clear that the our devices will also scale down to 15 nm and even 10 nm − just as silicon is doing now.”
In our case, we use substrates made of GaAs. These are currently available in diameters up to 200 mm, and there is no fundamental barrier to the production of 300 mm equivalents.

POET Technologies (TSX: V.PTK, Stock Forum) manages to pack it all onto one chip with its patented monolithic fabrication process that wedges electronic and optical elements together into one place. In today’s world where Moore’s law is reaching its limit, POET is finding innovative ways to step it up a notch. Stock price seems to have formed a base after a six month upward run. Good news will give it another shove.

POET Technologies (TSX:V.PTK, Stock Forum), a Toronto-based developer and marketer of semiconductor devices using the proprietary POET platform, provided an update today on its 100-nm initiative, on the upgrade of its molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system and on the technology design kit for the Planar Electronic Technology (PET) subset of the POET process.
According to the news release, the 100-nm initiative reached a milestone of reducing the feature size of key POET devices to the 100-nm range in scale, the MBE system, taken offline for maintenance and a major upgrade has had all scheduled work completed and is back online, and the PDK/TDK is progressing well and as planned.
Company Executive Chairman and interim CEO, Peter Copetti, commented, “Thanks are due to Dr. Taylor and the entire technical team for their dedication and relentless focus on the multiple milestones the Company has set for them.”
He went on to explain, "While timelines have had to accommodate challenges in our drive to 100-nm, I am encouraged by the significant recent progress, especially in parallel with our PET/TDK achievements. Our potential partners and customers have noted this significant progress, and this has allowed me and my executive team to have very detailed discussions with them under non-disclosure agreements, many of them ongoing at this time.”
Poet Technologies has increasingly become one of the most highly watched companies on the Stockhouse site over the past month, with its Bullboards regularly topping the most active list. The month of April has seen the company climb almost 100%, before dropping almost the same amount.

Mmmm....so it almost looks like the stock got hammered down today for a reason. Maybe short covering? Then we get a nice article indicating both 100nm being done and transition to 8" waffer size after close. Interesting coincidence? I hate that the game is rigged but it is so get used to the rules and dont get shaken out. Hope we get a juicy NR monday morning. Have a good weekend guys and gals.
