An interesting (long) article in today's AFR titled 'The $2b exploration boom quietly under way". Some bits in the article including quotes from John Holiday:
An “unprecedented” flow of cash into the high-risk mineral exploration sector has sparked a drilling boom that is causing huge backlogs at the laboratories whose assays determine success or failure.
“We are in a boom I would say for exploration at present,” he said from his latest drilling project with Kincora Copper near the NSW town of Trundle. Mr Holliday said the boom conditions were manifesting in many ways, including longer waits for drilling results to come back from laboratories. It is stretching out here to two months and normally you might expect three weeks or so,” he said.
The laboratory backlog is even more severe in Western Australia.
Longer waits for assay results could slow the speed at which explorers spend their cash bounty on drilling, with Mr Holliday saying geologists ideally wanted to know the results of their last hole before choosing where to drill their next hole .“That is a problem if you don’t have the assays fairly quickly. You have got to keep drilling, you can’t just stop and slow down because you might lose your contractor,” he said.
Drilling company DDH1 Limited listed on the ASX on Tuesday and has its fleet of 96 rigs booked almost solid for the rest of calendar 2021.DDH1 founder Murray Pollock said mining companies and explorers were starting to panic-book rigs the way households had hoarded toilet paper in the early stages of the pandemic. “The demand is enormous, we just cannot keep up,” he said. “I think there is a bit of panic out there and perhaps some companies are booking up rigs [because] they know they have to get in there, but they might not know exactly what they are going to do with them.
It shouldn't be too much longer.
Just gotta wait for JR to get all the little Cummins Range and co. duckies in (enough of) a row, to allow a few of them to leave home.
Another ok today - low volume, sell side staying pretty reasonable. Everyone's just waiting.
All ok. There are SO many possible pieces of news in the next month.
Just gotta be patient. More.

We're right in the middle of the proverbial calm before the storm.
Recently, we had a few exciting periods of a new significant investor and a couple of very good line wipes, some US talk, a little excitement, etc.
As we've seen time and time again with REE, if there's little to no demand, volume is low and we just stall and/or very slowly drift down. This is now. There's a pretty solid buy wall at 12c - 11c, which is good and the sell side is largely behaving itself and not building up to any crazy levels which is nice.
So, we're just going to be bobbing around on 12c-13c and up to 16c for a bit, just completely randomly dependent on if someone wants to buy in more solidly now. Given the newses to come, it might not be an extensive period.
Countering this will likely be one of the main reasons why Jeremy is listing in the US. The REE SP just refuses to hold itself up. REE has so much retail trade, that he wants some larger US investors, with money, with a longer term industry outlook to come in and buy a large chunk and sit on it.
We have one significant investor now and this is good, we just need a couple more and Jeremy obviously thinks he will find them in the US. Just one or two more will be enough to get other potentials to take a look as well.
As if there aren't already large US investors / investment firms looking at every somewhat developed RE project in the world. If there is even the faintest hint of MP Materials in any REE announcement ever... (Jeremy's tweeted a few times recently about MP and its share price). Heck, how many large US investors could make a play for REE without even batting an eyelid. What's REE now - US$40-50M? Multiply it a couple of times? For a comparatively high TREO%, low capex mine ready to go in 2+ years, in a super friendly jurisdiction? And RET Co. (acknowledging the political aspects) as a middle ground for the next 4 years while ROW stuff kicks in?
Right now, there's a lot we don't know and there's a lot Jeremy does know but you'd have to think listing in the US is very intentional and purposeful - more than just, "oh let's get more more capital". Hopefully it will turn out well for all concerned.
