MoU zur Kooperation für Graphen-Anwendungen bei Fuel Cell Tanks
      Memorandum of Understanding with Viritech
      06 September 2021

Haydale (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Viritech Limited ("Viritech"). Viritech is developing technologies to deliver advanced hydrogen powertrain solutions for the automotive, aerospace, marine and distributed power industries and Haydale will provide Viritech with consulting engineering support services, including pressure vessel design, structural analysis, and material science analysis.

Viritech are world leaders in the development of integrated hydrogen powertrains and, through its technical partnership with Horiba MIRA, has access to 40 major engineering facilities and over 600 engineers onsite in Nuneaton as well as MIRA's engineering network across the Midlands. Viritech's focus is on areas where hydrogen fuel cells offer immediate benefits - where the effectiveness of batteries is compromised by mass-compounding or power, range and duration requirements increase, or long-term energy storage is required.

Haydale is utilising its expertise in engineering solutions for hydrogen storage in tandem with its experience in nano material science to work with Viritech on the testing and development of Type IV structural composite pressure vessels for hydrogen storage. The initial project will commence in September 2021 and is scheduled to last for six months. Subject to positive results, Haydale anticipates follow on development work both in respect of Type IV tanks but also further research into next generation Type V linerless pressure vessels.

The first application is expected to be in the Apricale™ Hypercar but future applications are expected to extend to HGV and light aircraft prototypes. After certification of the Type IV design, Viritech expects to enter into licencing arrangements with existing suppliers of composite pressure vessels to OEMs and Tier 1 manufacturing customers and it is anticipated that, with subsequent designs, customers will require Haydale to supply functionalised nanomaterials as part of any licence agreed.

Timothy Lyons, Viritech CEO and Founder, said: "We are delighted to be working with Haydale's exceptional engineering team to help us develop structural composite pressure vessels for hydrogen storage. Viritech believes that the world's transition to Green Hydrogen will be vital to the long-term sustainability of the planet and the ability to store hydrogen safely and effectively will be key to facilitating this transition."

Keith Broadbent, Haydale CEO, said: "We are excited to be working with Viritech on the first of what we expect to be a number of projects that will help unlock the pathway to hydrogen propulsion. Our role with Viritech brings together our expertise in functionalised nano materials and experience in lightweight, low-permeability hydrogen storage tanks and complements our work with the Advance Propulsion Centre's Automotive Transformation Fund."

High Performance Garments - Used in Tokyo
      19 August 2021

Haydale, (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is pleased to announce that, following its announcement of positive prototype testing on 3rd March 2020, its range of advanced wearable technology - integrated into garments for elite athletes - was used in Tokyo by British athletes, including top medal winning athletes.

The challenges created by the uncertainty in the leadup to the delayed games further enhanced the relationship between the parties working alongside each other with the English Institute for Sport (EIS), Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating (WCPC) and Newbury Electronics, forming part of a dedicated supply chain team with Haydale and others to ensure the new technology was ready in time.

As mentioned previously, the garments generate heat using Haydale's printed functionalised graphene ink and incorporate electronic circuitry to produce temperature regulated panels. The plan is to use them at future international competitions, and subsequently to make them available commercially to other professional sports.

Dr Matt Parker, Director of Performance Innovation for EIS, states; "It is great to see the dedication and hard work of the whole team bring to reality garments that have been used by British athletes. This is something we will look to build on for future events."

Keith Broadbent, CEO at Haydale, commented; "I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the EIS team, the WCPC team and the rest of the supply chain for their efforts in making this happen. I look forward to being able to provide a more comprehensive update on the performance of the garments that were used and developin

Kooperation mit Airbus zur Absicherung von Blitzeinschlägen bei Flugzeugen
Filing of Joint Patent with Airbus
      16 August 2021

Haydale (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is pleased to announce that the Company has signed an agreement (the "Agreement") with Airbus Operations Limited ("Airbus") and subsequently Airbus have filed a joint Patent Application to cover the intellectual property jointly generated by Haydale and Airbus (the "Parties") under the multi-party NATEP-supported Graphene Composites Evaluated in Lightning Strike Project ("GraCELS-2").

GraCELS-2 was designed to confirm that the incorporation of functionalised graphene/2D fillers could produce the next iteration of composite materials with significantly improved lightning strike performance compared to existing current carbon/epoxy systems alleviating the need for copper mesh. The success of GraCELS-2 moved the Parties closer to the production of commercial material for applications in aerospace structures and also for other applications which are susceptible to lightning strike.

In October 2019, Haydale launched a range of graphene enhanced pre-preg material for lightning strike protection utilising functionalised nanomaterials to improve the electrical conductivity and to reduce the unloaded weight of an airliner cost effectively and with clear environmental benefits. The technology underlying the Patent Application further enhances the effectiveness and performance of Haydale's pre-preg range of materials.

Keith Broadbent, Haydale CEO, said: "I am looking forward to adding the new technology to our functionalised masterbatch offering which will further improve the performance of this product range. We look forward to discussing the potential applications of this product with existing and new customers interestied in achieving the environmental and cost benefits offered by our enhanced range "

immer mit der Ruhe, the trend is your friend...

Haydale signs a collaboration agreement to be the manufacturing and exclusive nano materials partner to ProMake Limited.
      12 July 2021

Haydale, (AIM: HAYD), the global advanced materials group, is pleased to announce that further to a memorandum of understanding signed on 11 November 2020, it has now signed a Collaboration Agreement with ProMake Limited ("ProMake") with respect to the fulfilment of Promake's commitments under the Public Health England ("PHE") National Microbiology Framework.

In line with the UK Government's aim to supply fast turnaround tests in its fight against Covid-19, PHE announced a new National Microbiology Framework in November 2020. There were four discrete lots within this framework and ProMake tendered for Lot 2 and Lot 4.

      Lot 2

Lot 2 consisted of the development of goods and services mainly for research and development, experimentation and study. PHE announced on 23 April 2021 that ProMake was one of 69 successful bidders. ProMake is to further develop their prototype BioPod testing device to provide an immediate PCR test result for Covid-19 and other diseases. The multi-use device will utilise graphene and other nano materials within its electronic testing system.

      Lot 4

The aim of Lot 4 was to ensure that there is consistent and affordable provision of high quality, safe and compliant testing services which can be delivered efficiently and effectively to support wider clinical services.

PHE announced on the 21 April 2021 that ProMake was one of 50 successful bidders, with their PreVent testing device that allows users to exhale onto a capture unit that is set within a test chamber. The prototype device collects a higher level of viral load, is less invasive than mainstream testing methods and should reduce clinical laboratory testing time and cost.

The collaboration agreement is for Haydale to be the exclusive supplier of the graphene and other nano materials required for the effective functioning of the Lot 2 BioPod device and sets out Haydale's responsibility for the manufacturing supply of several elements of the Lot 4 PreVent testing device.

The Haydale Board considers that it is premature to provide any guidance as to the timing or value to Haydale of this collaboration, but anticipates being able to give a more detailed update over the coming months.

Jason Laing, Co-Founder and CEO at ProMake, said: "We are grateful for the support that Haydale has given us in our successful tender process, and we look forward to working with Haydale to deliver a cost efficient and effective testing service to support the UK Government's fight against Covid-19".

Gavin Leggott, Co-founder and COO at ProMake, said: "We are working with Haydale on a number of projects. We value their technical advice and project management experience, and they are a vital partner in the consortia that we have put together to deliver on these exciting projects".

Keith Broadbent, Haydale CEO, said: "It has been a privilege to work with such innovative thinkers as Jason and Gavin. The opportunity to assist in the fight against Covid-19 is one that we are keen to be involved in".
