Ports

Telecom and eCommerce:
Formed in 1985, Hutchison Telecommunications is now one of the leading owners and operators of telecommunications and Internet infrastructure, offering a wide range of related services. These include fixed-line services, internet services, fiber optics broadband networks, mobile telephony (voice and data), paging, trunked mobile radio, VSAT and radio broadcasting.
In Europe, the Group started the very successful Orange PCS network. Orange plc was sold to Mannesmann AG in 1999 for a consideration of HK$113 billion, comprised of cash, notes and a 10% shareholding in Mannesmann. In early 2000, the Group accepted Vodafone AirTouch`s offer to buy Mannesmann shares. In return, the Group received 5% shareholding in Vodafone.
Recently the Group formed a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) joint venture company with Telesystem International Wireless Inc. (TIW), a Canadian based company, who has won the bid for the largest 3G license in the United Kingdom. HWL will collaborate with TIW to build and operate a national UMTS network in the UK.
The Orange brand has also met with great success in other major Hutchison Telecom markets including Hong Kong, Israel, India and Australia. The telecom group is also active in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Ghana. Hutchison Telecom is also a substantial shareholder in VoiceStream, the largest GSM operator in the United States.
The Group is actively expanding its internet business and setting up B2B and B2C e-commerce operations in Hong Kong and the Asian region. Alliances have been formed with several top US companies in the e-commerce industry including Priceline.com, DLJDirect and the Internet Capital Group. In addition, the Group has launched a number of major portals including Portsnportals.com and bigboXX.com, and is a substantial shareholder of TOM.COM which aims to be the premier mega portal for China related "infotainment" internet content.

Als erster mal die Korrektur meines obigen Schreibfehlers, es heißt natürlich Hutchison!
Ich denke ein kauf in HongKong ist sinnvoller, da besserer Preis. Allerdings ob lohnend, daß kommt aufs Volumen der Order an, da wir hier höhere Gebühren haben.

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. wird bei der Auktion von UMTS-Lizenzen in Italien mit Tiscali kooperieren und hat damit die Deutsche Telekom aus dem Rennen geworfen, die sich ebenfalls mit Tiscali zusammen tun wollte, berichtet die Financial Times (FT). Das Hongkonger Konglomerat, dass zu den größten Mobilfunkplayern Asiens zählt, und die italienische Telekom- und Internetgruppe werden unter dem Namen Andala versuchen, eine der fünf Lizenzen für den Mobilfunkmarkt der dritten Generation (3G) in Italien zu erwerben. Grund für die Wahl Hutchisons als Partner sei für Tiscali laut FT der stärkere Unternehmensgeist der Asiaten gewesen. Eine offizielle Bekanntgabe des Deal erwartet die Zeitung anlässlich eines Aktionärstreffens am Montag.
Hutchison konnte angesichts der Meldung heute mit einem Plus von 1,3 Prozent aus dem Hongkonger Handel gehen und schloss bei 113,50 HK-Dollar. In Frankfurt steht die Aktie (WKN 864287) ebenfalls im Plus. Aktuell legt sie 2,2 Prozent auf 16,30 Euro zu. Tiscali gewinnt aktuell zwei Prozent auf 51,50 Euro und auch die Dt. Telekom kann zulegen und steht im Xetra-Handel derzeit bei 46,03 Euro, plus 1,6 Prozent.

Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. wird bei der Auktion von UMTS-Lizenzen in Italien mit Tiscali kooperieren und hat damit die Deutsche Telekom aus dem Rennen geworfen, die sich ebenfalls mit Tiscali zusammen tun wollte, berichtet die Financial Times (FT). Das Hongkonger Konglomerat, dass zu den größten Mobilfunkplayern Asiens zählt, und die italienische Telekom- und Internetgruppe werden unter dem Namen Andala versuchen, eine der fünf Lizenzen für den Mobilfunkmarkt der dritten Generation (3G) in Italien zu erwerben. Grund für die Wahl Hutchisons als Partner sei für Tiscali laut FT der stärkere Unternehmensgeist der Asiaten gewesen. Eine offizielle Bekanntgabe des Deal erwartet die Zeitung anlässlich eines Aktionärstreffens am Montag.
Hutchison konnte angesichts der Meldung heute mit einem Plus von 1,3 Prozent aus dem Hongkonger Handel gehen und schloss bei 113,50 HK-Dollar. In Frankfurt steht die Aktie (WKN 864287) ebenfalls im Plus. Aktuell legt sie 2,2 Prozent auf 16,30 Euro zu. Tiscali gewinnt aktuell zwei Prozent auf 51,50 Euro und auch die Dt. Telekom kann zulegen und steht im Xetra-Handel derzeit bei 46,03 Euro, plus 1,6 Prozent.

* Kommentar: Hutchison Whampoa ist auf bestem Wege, zu einer bedeutsamen Kraft im europäischen multimedialen Mobilfunkmarkt zu werden. Dies bekommt auch die Deutsche Telekom zu
spüren, die den Gerüchten zufolge den Kampf um einen Anteil am Andala Konsortium verloren hat. Die Deutsche Telekom bestätigt diese Gerüchte nicht. Italien scheint ein rotes Tuch für DT zu sein.
Nachdem man bei der Fusion mit Telecom Italia gescheitert und kürzlich auch aus dem Konsortium Wind ausgeschieden ist, stellt sich nun die Frage nach den Alternativen (vgl. auch UMTS-Studie
vom 17. Juli 2000, S.42). Diese sind erstens ein Zusammengehen mit dem Konsortium Dix.it oder mit dem Konsortium Atlanet. Zweitens könnte man TIM kaufen. Der dritte, aber nicht der beste Weg, wäre ein Alleingang. Das Erschließen des italienischen Marktes bleibt schwierig für DT. Der Aktienkurs dürfte in den nächsten Tagen den Boden finden. Wir gehen davon aus, dass der Ausgang der deutschen UMTS - Versteigerung den Turnaround bei der Kursentwicklung einläuten wird.
