Former AstroPower Executive Joins Evergreen Solar as SVP of Marketing and Sales

MARLBORO, Mass., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Evergreen Solar (Nachrichten), a developer of proprietary, low cost solar power products, today announced that Dr. Terry Bailey has joined the Company as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales. Terry will be responsible for Evergreen Solar````s sales, marketing, strategic planning, and business development activities.

Terry Bailey, 50 years old, joins Evergreen Solar with over 20 years experience in strategic business planning, sales, marketing, product development, and corporate operations. Bailey most recently served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for leading solar technology supplier AstroPower, Inc., which was recently acquired by GE . He was responsible for global sales and marketing at AstroPower, which had revenues of $70 million and worldwide sales offices.

Dr. Bailey commented, "As someone who has spent nearly his entire career working with innovative, blue chip technology companies, I am excited to be joining Evergreen Solar and recently appointed CEO Richard Feldt, at this important juncture in the Company````s development. Previously, Bailey served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of NEC Technologies, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of NEC. At NEC, Bailey was directly responsible for all day-to-day management, including P&L and revenue responsibility of more than $1 billion, and sat on the board of NEC Technologies. Bailey earlier served as Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales at NEC Technologies. Prior to NEC, Bailey was an executive at Apple Computer, where he rose to the level of Senior Vice President and General Manager for Apple````s Imaging Division. In this position, he had worldwide P&L responsibility for all of Apple````s Imaging Products, which generated over $1 billion in annual revenues as well as direct management responsibility for strategic partnering, R&D, engineering, product development, marketing, North America sales, and various areas of corporate operations.

Bailey earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, from Florida State University, specializing in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance research and computer system graphics integration. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Alabama.
