Sehr geehrte Leserinnen und Leser,
Zecotek Photonics, WKN A0M8QZ, www.zecotek.com
News bei Zecotek:
Die Universität von Illinois bestellt einen TI Saphir Laser aus dem Hause Zecotek um ihr Quantenphysik Projekt zu verbessern.
Über den TI Saphir Laser: "single atoms and ions can now be cooled, trapped, and precisely manipulated using laser beams."

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 28, 2008) - Zecotek Photonics Inc. (TSX VENTURE:ZMS)(FRANKFURT:W1I) today announced that the Department of Physics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, U.S.A., has ordered its proprietary TIS-SF-777 Ti: Sapphire laser (Triple Seven laser) and a FD-SE-07 resonant frequency doubler. The tandem device has the ability to deliver a super-narrow line of powerful radiation in the blue spectral range and provides a significant new tool for application in fields such as nanolithography, nanostructured materials and quantum physics where single atoms and ions can now be cooled, trapped, and precisely manipulated using laser beams.
"We are extremely pleased that the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has selected our proprietary Triple Seven laser and resonant frequency doubler for work in the important area of quantum research," said Dr. A.F. Zerrouk, Chairman, President, and CEO of Zecotek. "The Physics Department at the University recognizes that Zecotek has significantly moved the performance criteria for this class of laser device. We are justifiably proud of the expertise and innovation the Triple Seven laser represents as it joins Zecotek's growing portfolio of leading edge photonic products."
A key feature of Zecotek's Triple Seven laser is its super-narrow radiation line width. The device specification provides for an absolute line width of less than 10 kHz rms. However, in performance testing, the absolute width of the output radiation line has been determined at 1 kHz - an exceptional performance parameter for this class of laser. Another key feature of Zecotek's frequency doubler is its conversion efficiency which, at greater than 25%, also sets a new performance standard for commercial products.
Zecotek's Ti:Sapphire lasers are manufactured under contract by Tekhnoscan J.S. of Novosibirsk, for Zecotek Laser Systems Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Zecotek Photonics.
About the Department of Physics, University of Illinois
The Department of Physics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is ranked among the top ten in the U.S. by the National Research Council of the National Academy of Science and is a world leader in physics research and education. The University funds a wide range of experimental and theoretical program from fundamental to applied research. The University holds a pre-eminent position in traditional physics disciplines, such as condensed matter physics, where it is ranked number one in the U.S., nuclear and particle physics, and astrophysics, and is also increasingly recognized for its strong programs in biological physics, mesoscopic physics, computational physics, and the physics of quantum information. Physics research also encompasses interdisciplinary collaborations with other Illinois science and engineering departments-many also ranked within the top ten U.S. programs.
