Acquisition of the Mayoko Iron Ore Project
HIGHLIGHTS
• DMC has been granted 80% of the Mayoko Iron Ore Project
located in The Republic of The Congo (“Congo –
Brazzaville”).
• Project area covers 1000km2 of the Precambrian Congo
Craton in West Africa which has A$6.2 bill of infrastructure
committed or planned by other parties in the region.
•
Previous studies indicate an exploration target of 750MT
to
800MT within the Mayoko License area.
• Accessible heavy haulage rail within 20-30km linking to a
deep water port at Pointe Noire.
• DMC to immediately prepare an exploration programme and
scoping study."
"The Board of DMC Mining Limited (“DMC”) is pleased to announce it
has acquired
80% of the Mayoko Iron Ore Project (“Mayoko”) in the Republic of
The Congo
approximately 300km north east of Pointe Noire on the west coast of
Africa.
"Given the existing iron ore tonnages and potential for further
tonnages on the
Mayoko licence, and the existing infrastructure, this is an
exciting project for DMC
and its shareholders, and we will immediately put plans in place to
develop an
exploration programme and scoping study" Executive Director, David
Sumich said.
DMC’s priority will now be to;
1. Prepare an exploration and drilling programme based upon a
desktop review
of the previous data and a on-site review.
2. Convert any previous resource to JORC compliant status, where
possible.
3. Initiate a scoping study to access infrastructure and all
factors affecting the
project economics.
LICENCE
The Mayoko Iron Ore exploration Licence number 7692 was granted by
the Minister
of Mining, The Hon Jean Pierre Ngassaki under The Republic of the
Congo Mining
Code (2005).
ACQUISITION COSTS
DMC has agreed to the following consideration to consultants in
relation to the
acquisition of the Mayoko Iron Ore Project.
On completion on DMC’s agreed review period, DMC will pay
AUD$500,000 plus issue
3,333,333 DMC shares and 11,000,000 DMC $0.20 options expiring 30th
June 2009.
DMC will pay/issue further consideration as follows:
Upon DMC attaining a market capitalisation of AUD$25,000,000 DMC
will issue
4,250,000 DMC Shares.
Upon DMC attaining a Market Capitalisation of AUD$50,000,000 DMC
will issue
4,250,000 DMC shares.
Upon DMC making an announcement to the ASX of the discovery of
a
400,000,000 tonne JORC inferred resource, DMC will issue 3,333,333
DMC
shares.
Upon execution of the Mining Convention DMC will issue 2,000,000
DMC
Shares.
The Mining Convention is understood to include the Mining Licence,
Commercial
Agreements with the Government and approved Environment Impact
Assessment
Studies.
GEOLOGICAL (TECHNICAL) SUMMARY
GEOLOGICAL SETTING
The area lies over the Precambrian Congo Craton of West Africa. The
area consists of
meta-sedimentary rocks that have been metamorphosed up to granulite
facies and
are around 2,540 million years old.
The rocks of interest consist of
a) fresh ferruginous quartzites
b) disaggregated altered ferruginous quartzites
c) ferruginous crust (Chapeau de Fer)
d) colluvium, consisting of materials accumulated at the base of
the slope of the
hills, made by the disaggregation of the ferruginous quartzites
Enrichment of iron occurs within deeply weathered iron-rich
metamorphic rocks, that
have been termed “Chapeau de Fer” Or hats of iron.
A Chapeau de fer is a surface area consisting of an exposed and
oxidized metal
deposit. In the field it looks more or less like a honeycomb
consisting of yellowish to
reddish brown colours. The hat is rich in iron oxides and
hydroxides formed by
weathering. The primary iron minerals are haematite and
limonite.
Much of the early geological information for the area was obtained
from a UN
sponsored program carried out in the Mayoko- Mount Lekoumou during
1974-75 by
the GEOMIN staff from Bucharest Romania.
PREVIOUS EXPLORATION WITH THE MAYOKO LICENSE
Over 40 drill holes, assays and chemical analysis was carried out
by I.C.E.S Geomin
Bucharest (“ICES”) during 1974 and 1975. Further exploration work
has been carried
out by French company Bureau De Recherches Geologique et Minieres
(“BRGM”)
during the 1980’s.
ICES GEOMIN BUCHAREST REPORT
DMC has obtained the original complete report along with drilling
logs, chemical
assay reports and cross section maps.
CONCLUSIONS OF THE ICES REPORT INCLUDE;
• A potential tonnage of approximately 750MT - 800MT exists 1.
• Much of the Fe tonnage is within close proximity (20-30km) to
existing rail
network.
• Both hematite and magnetite tonnage exists.
• Grades range from 35-45% for the magnetite and 50-60% for the
hematite.
• Based on chemical analysis of samples, much of the tonnage is
suitable for
industrial use.
1. DMC considers the 750MT - 800MT potential tonnage to be an
exploration target as defined under the JORC code"
erreichen, m. A. nach.
bin also keinesfalls ein alter Hase,
will nur m.
