The development appeared to gain momentum last year when Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan expressed her support and project partners signed fully termed agreements with the government in May 2023, but since then "progress has indeed been slower than we expected," Equinor (EQNR) told Bloomberg.
The government was expected to sign the documents last July, pending a final assurance process, with a potential investment decision targeted for 2025, but instead the signing has stalled without any indication of the reasons for the delay, with no sign of how to resolve the situation, according to the report.
"We had hoped to see these agreements signed faster, but we remain ready to continue to work with the government on competitive and investable agreements, consistent with what we agreed last year," Shell (SHEL) told Bloomberg.
Separately, environmental groups want Nigeria's government to delay approving the sale of Shell's (SHEL) onshore assets, claiming the company is trying to shirk its environmental and social responsibilities in the polluted Niger Delta.
B Tanzania LNG project slowed on deal delays with Shell, Equinor - Bloomberg
Tanzania has delayed key agreements needed to realize a $42B liquefied natural gas plant, slowing a project that developers Shell (NYSE:SHEL) and Equinor (EQNR) warn has limited time to become a reality, Bloomberg reported Wednesday. The development appeared to gain momentum last year when Tanzania President Samia Suluhu Hassan expressed her support and project partners signed fully termed agreements with the government in May 2023, but since then "progress has indeed been slower than we expected," Equinor (EQNR) told Bloomberg.

The assets, which Shell (SHEL) said last year it would review, include a refinery capable of processing 237K bbl/day of oil on Bukom island and a 1M metric tons/year ethylene plant and a plant that produces mono-ethylene glycol on Jurong island.
Morgan Stanley reportedly is assisting on a potential deal, which would give Glencore (OTCPK:GLCNF) (OTCPK:GLNCY) a physical foothold for its trading in Asia's main oil hub.
Shell (SHEL) was said to have shortlisted at least four companies including China's Cnooc (OTCPK:CEOHF), global energy trader Vitol and Chinese chemical firms Eversun Holdings and Befar Group to submit formal bids by the end of February, but Cnooc and Befar have opted out, according to the report.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 75.374.831 von KMST am 01.03.24 09:32:19Shell (NYSE:SHEL) said Thursday it will exit a South Korean floating offshore wind project, in the company's latest retreat from the struggling wind sector as it focuses on more profitable businesses.
Swedish offshore wind specialist Hexicon said it agreed to acquire full ownership of its joint venture with Shell (SHEL) that develops the 1,125 MW MunmuBaram floating wind project off South Korea.
Hexicon, which already owned a 20% stake in the JV, will pay Shell (SHEL) $5M and an additional $50M in a profit sharing agreement over three years after the project starts.
Shell (SHEL) has sold its stakes in several floating offshore wind projects in recent years, including in Ireland and France.

Zukunftsprojekt in Singapur
