WDH/Totalenergies verdient trotz hoher Russland-Abschreibungen deutlich mehr

PARIS (dpa-AFX) - Der Öl- und Energiekonzern Totalenergies hat im vergangenen Jahr deutlich mehr verdient. Die Franzosen profitierten dabei von stark gestiegenen Preisen für Öl und Gas. Auf Jahressicht stieg der Gewinn unter dem Strich um 28 Prozent auf 20,5 Milliarden Dollar (19,1 Mrd Euro), wie der Konzern am Mittwoch in Paris mitteilte. Im Schlussquartal lasteten abermals milliardenschwere Abschreibungen für den Rückzug aus einem russischen Gasunternehmen auf den Ergebnissen - das Jahresviertel fiel damit etwas unter den Analystenerwartungen aus.

Freeport to restart liquefaction train at Texas LNG export plant this week

(Reuters) - Freeport LNG, the second-biggest U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter, said on Friday it plans to restart one of three liquefaction trains at its long-idled Texas export plant this week.

Liquefaction trains turn natural gas into LNG for export.

In a filing with Texas environmental regulators, Freeport said it “anticipates the purge and restart of Liquefaction Train 3 will begin on Feb. 3 with Trains 2 and 1 following sequentially.”

That will allow “time between startups for each train to stabilize and run for several days at nominal rates,” Freeport said in the filing.

Freeport also said the “initial purging, restart, and cooldown of each train will result in venting to the Liquefaction Flare as the trains are brought to operating temperatures that allow for the cessation of flaring.”

The Freeport plant shut after a fire in June 2022. The energy market expects gas prices to rise once the plant starts producing LNG again. When operating at full power, Freeport can turn about 2.1 billion cubic feet (bcf) of gas into LNG each day. That is about 2% of total U.S. daily gas production.

Despite the planned Freeport restart, however, U.S. gas futures fell about 3% to a 25-month low on Friday due to forecasts for milder weather in February. [NGA/]

The outage forced Freeport’s big customers, including JERA and Osaka Gas, to book hundreds of millions of dollars of losses. Its other big buyers include BP, TotalEnergies and SK E&S.

TotalEnergies Starts Up its Fourth Solar Power Plant in Japan

TotalEnergies has started up commercial operation of a 51-megawatt (MW) solar power plant located in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, Japan.

The plant, connected to the electricity distribution grid, will supply its electricity to Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co. Inc., a subsidiary of the regional utility company, through a power purchase agreement over a 17-year period.

Built in 2 years, the Haze power plant is operated with nearly 100,000 high-efficiency solar panels, ensuring the highest performance in mitigated weather conditions. The supports and foundations of the solar panels are designed in consideration of earthquakes and typhoons.

The Haze power plant operates on a surface of nearly 77 hectares and will provide enough clean and reliable electricity to serve nearly 20,000 households.

QatarEnergy Joins TotalEnergies and Eni on Two Exploration Blocks

TotalEnergies (Paris:TTE) (LSE:TTE) (NYSE:TTE) and Eni have completed the transfer to QatarEnergy of a 30% interest in exploration Blocks 4 and 9 off the coast of Lebanon.
