BEIJING, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Chinese automaker Dongfeng Motor sold 19,540 vehicles in February, up 29.8 percent year on year, figures released on Saturday showed.

Dongfeng's auto output in February reached 18,250 units, an increase of 11.3 percent from a year earlier, the company said in a report to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Sales in January surged 35.22 percent year on year to hit the record monthly high of 297,600 units.

The company aims to sell 2.9 million vehicles this year.

The equities of the Shanghai-listed firm closed at 5.3 yuan per share on Friday, up 0.95 percent from the previous trading day.

JPMorgan Chase increased its long position in the H shares of Dongfeng Motor (HKG:0489) from 6.91% to 7.21% on February 25 by acquiring 8.601 million shares at HK$13.7 per share on average, the Stock Exchange's Disclosure of Interests information shows. The shares were traded on the Stock Exchange for a total of HK$117.836 million.

Dongfeng Motor to transfer stakes in Dongfeng Dana

Mar. 2, 2011 (China Knowledge) - Dongfeng Motor Corp, one of the three giant automakers in China, plans to transfer its 9.81% stake in Dongfeng Dana Axle Co Ltd, a joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Corp and U.S.-based Dana, for RMB 170 million, Reuters reported.

According to the statement filed with China Beijing Equity Exchange, the controlling shareholder of the JV is Dongfeng Motor Co, a 50:50 joint venture between Dongfeng Motor Group Co Ltd<0489> and Japan-based Nissan Motor Co, with 75.23% stake.

The asset buyer must has a registered capital or net asset of more than RMB 700 million last year, and its revenue must be more than RMB 3 billion, with more than twenty-year experience in design, manufacture and management of axle for commercial vehicle.

Dongfeng Dana Axle Co Ltd is mainly engaged in the research, design, manufacture, development and sale of axle for commercial vehicle. It reaped RMB 210 million in net profit last year, while it realized RMB 7.04 billion in revenue.

[I-bank focus] Daiwa rates Dongfeng (00489) "hold" & HK$14

Daiwa Research initiated coverage of Dongfeng
Motor (00489) with a "hold" rating and a target price of HK$14.
The research house views Dongfeng as a volume play on China, with its three foreign
brands and one domestic brand.
But Daiwa forecast the domestic car market to slow sharply in 2011. With limited volume
growth to absorb higher costs and new taxes on foreign joint ventures, Dongfeng's gross
margin is expected to decline in 2011, after surprising on the upside in 2010. (KL)

all zu lange dauern bis sich der Kurs wider
gen Norden orientiert.
Eine Kursverdoppelung dieses Jahr würde
mich nicht überaschen.
