PERTH (miningweekly.com) − Brazilian mining giant Vale has signed a $20-million farm-in agreement with Australian listed junior Goldminex Resources over its Papua New Guinea copper assets.

Under the farm-in agreement, Vale had the right to earn a 51% interest in the Owen Stanley Ranges tenements by sole funding $20-million of the project expenditure, over the next four years, with at least $5-million spent over the first year.

“We are delighted to announce this agreement with Vale, one of the world’s largest metal producers. We believe this agreement underlines the scale and potential of Goldminex’s assets in Papua New Guinea,” said chairperson John Downie on Monday.......

      15 November 2011 ASX : GMX
4,000m Drilling Program Commences at Liamu

Goldminex Resources Limited (“Goldminex” or “the Company”) is pleased to report that it has commenced a 4,000m diamond drilling program at its flagship Liamu Porphyry Copper-Gold Project, in Papua New Guinea.

      Highlights include:
 4,000m drilling program underway to test highly encouraging surface sampling results
 Ten prospects identified within Liamu to date
 Current drill program to target four key prospects - Movei, Nesei, Iyiowai and Unebu
 Ongoing drilling to continue into Q1 2012

The Liamu Project is a large porphyry Cu-Au system within Exploration Licence (“EL”) 1606, located 120 kilometres east of Port Moresby in the Owen Stanley region of PNG (Figure 1). This priority project is a partially covered, structurally controlled, intermediate intrusive complex approximately 35km² in area. Liamu straddles the Owen Stanley Fault Zone which is a NW trending crustal-scale plate suture and is situated within an area of complex faulting known as the Awala Flexure Zone. EL 1606 is one of the Company’s prospects which is covered by the Goldminex - Vale S.A. (“Vale”) Farm-in Agreement.

This 4,000m diamond drilling program will consist of six deep diamond drill holes focused on geochemical, geological and geophysical targets in the Movei, Nesei, Iyiowai, and Unebu prospect areas. The holes will provide an initial indication of the potential of these prospects to host economic-grade gold-rich porphyry style copper mineralisation. The data from these holes will also provide useful information to vector in on mineralised centres within this very large project area and will form the basis of further drilling.

This drill program follows substantial geological and geochemical exploration activities at Liamu which has to date outlined a 15km² area shedding anomalous gold and copper in drainage samples. In addition, extensive ridge and spur soil sampling revealed approximately 11 km² of the project area exhibiting copper and gold anomalous geochemistry, Figure 2.
Goldminex has to date identified ten prospects at Liamu: Nesei, Movei, Tikay, Dada, Unebu, Berefana (within the 5.5km x 1.5km Berefana Region) and Imorobi, Biafa, Bubuafu and Iyiowai to the north and east of the Berefana Region (Figure 2).

CEO Sandy Moyle stated,“We are excited to enter this phase of drilling which we hope will add a third dimension to the very encouraging surface exploration results already returned from Liamu. Although this drilling will only test a small portion of the targets, it will enhance our understanding of this large mineralised system which has the potential to host a significant porphyry copper-gold deposit.

We look forward to keeping shareholders up to date as drilling progresses in the coming months.”

Surface geochemical highlights (previously reported) over the Liamu area include the following trench results:
      81.5m @ 0.17% Cu and 0.58g/t Au (open) including 45m @ 0.21% Cu and 0.72g/t Au in MOVTR004 at Movei
      55m @ 0.56 g/t Au (open) including 28m @ 0.92g/t Au (open) and 47m @ 0.35% Cu including 28m @ 0.47% Cu (open) in UNETR013 at Unebu
39m @ 1.10g/t Au (open) in BFATR018 between Movei and Iyiowai
      121.5m @ 0.14 % Cu and 0.08 g/t Au in NSTR003 at Nesei
      15m @ 0.5% Cu and 9m 0.28 g/t Au in NESTR005 at Nese

Advanced exploration and highly prospective ground in PNG with Goldminex Resources Limited

There is no doubt about it, Australian investment in Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) booming resources sector continues to climb. With favourable mining laws, many proven successes, overwhelming multi-commodity interests, great export routes, good project histories and many more factors besides, it is the place to be for any ambitious junior today. However with so many vying for good ground in the country, it takes more than luck to get ahead of the pack; it takes a truly pioneering team with a strong exploration strategy, a precise blend of local and world-honed expertise and a project with something more than most.

Spread across a 5,100 square kilometres of highly prospective, under-explored granted tenement holding located in the Owen Stanley Ranges and the Sepik Province in PNG, are a number of prospective projects belonging to Goldminex Resources Limited (ASX: GMX). On the ground is a formidable and highly experienced team of ex-patriots and PNG nationals that are busily conducting exploration, supported by an equally experienced logistics team with suitable infrastructure which gives Goldminex a real edge on many other juniors in the region. Then, there is a further 8,000 square kilometres under exploration license application, and all things considered, it is fair to say that the company has got itself a sizeable expanse of prime PNG exploration real estate. This issue AuBJ speaks with Alexander ‘Sandy’ Moyle, Goldminex CEO, and catches up on all of the going’s on at the company’s exploration projects.

Owen Stanley and Awari: existing porphyry potential

In explaining why PNG proved attractive for Goldminex in the first instance, Moyle notes that the tectonic collision zone between the westward moving Pacific Plate and the northward moving Indo-Australian Plate creates a fertile environment for porphyry intrusives with potential to host gold and porphyry copper deposits, just the geology the company is interested in.

“There are numerous large multi-million ounce gold and porphyry copper projects in PNG. The country is particularly prospective, and the mining laws are well developed and workable. The risks are relatively low, in fact they’ve been reported as being lower than Australia in the latest ResourceStocks ranking and that includes sovereign risk,” he recalls.

“The area we have taken up in the Owen Stanley Range is relatively under-explored. Geologically it is structurally complex which enhances the chances of hosting major gold, copper and nickel occurrences and we have a number of targets within our tenements that show promise to host economic mineralisation.”

In 2010, the Owen Stanley region is the core focus for Goldminex, with exploration programmes being conducted at the Liamu, Ubei, Wavera, Sibium and Bonua areas.

“Currently our key area of interest is the Liamu Project. Within this project, which is dominated by intrusives, drainage panned concentrate sampling has indicated anomalous gold is shedding from an area covering approximately 15 square kilometres. In addition anomalous copper and base metal assay results have been returned in stream sediment samples collected from numerous drainages within the project,” he says.

“These assay results, together with the geology and the alteration styles observed suggest the presence of a partially covered porphyry copper-gold system. The tenor or size of the mineralisation is yet to be revealed. We completed the first round of exploration drilling in August this year. This drilling, which was conducted using a lightweight diamond core rig, focused on one particular 300 metre by 300 metre area within the large project area to determine the source of the gold-copper mineralisation and its key structural controls.”

Drilling results released in mid-September revealed that high-grade porphyry mineralisation was not intersected in that particular area, but did deliver broad low-grade zones of porphyry gold-copper mineralisation; an encouragingly reassuring sign that such a system is evident. This, in addition to surface trench, soil and rock chip assay results, has highlighted the great potential at Liamu and indicated that a porphyry system definitely exists. The detailed exploration to date suggests the porphyry system is intermittently exposed over a 5.5 kilometre by 1.5 kilometre area.

Currently a detailed helicopter-borne aeromagnetic and radiometric geophysical survey is being conducted over the Liamu project to assist with drill target definition.

The Ubei Project, situated 25 kilometres southeast of Liamu, is also very interesting. It covers an area of approximately 4.0 kilometres by 3.5 kilometres, within which numerous float and outcrop rock chip samples of quartz-sulphide veins, mineralised shears and breccias returned assay values of greater than 1g/t Au and or greater than 0.5% Cu, including several high-grade values of greater than 5g/t Au and greater than 2.0% Cu. The anomalous gold and copper values overlie and flank a large airborne VTEM electromagnetic geophysical anomaly.

A review of previous exploration data in the Ubei project area concluded that the known copper-gold mineralisation may form a distal halo around a buried copper-gold mineralised intrusive source defined by the large VTEM anomaly. To further evaluate the project a three-dimensional induced polarisation (3D-IP) geophysical survey has commenced. This survey will assist defining mineralised targets at depth.

At the Awari Project in the Sepik Province, positive exploration results continue to spur interest. Goldminex’s 2009 exploration data generated by drilling and surface work revealed several mineralised zones which warrant follow-up, most notably the high-grade zone at Langamut Creek (there are four prospects in the Awari area additional to the main Awari prospect). At Langamut, Goldminex carried out some trenching, one of which returned 29m @ 4.6g/t gold.

“At the main Awari prospect we intercepted some encouraging gold mineralisation including 13m @ 5.4g/t Au in hole AWDDH005 and 8m @ 5.1g/t Au in hole AWDDH006,” Moyle says of last year’s drilling program. “Overall the country in the highlands region is quite rugged, and like with most targets there, advancing exploration at the Awari project requires considerable funding. Being a junior company, we have decided that it is far better for us to bring a major company in. As a result we’re currently discussing joint venture possibilities.”

The potential throughout both regions is clear: Owen Stanley hosts a porphyry gold-copper system which, with the various other gold and copper targets identified in the land holdings suggests potential for economic mineralisation. Awari, partially explored by several other companies before Goldminex, is prospective for epithermal gold and porphyry copper mineralisation and warrants a partner to assist with funding further exploration. The company’s exploration programs are continuing to rapidly advance the projects towards future resource delineation. Considerable effort is continuing to ensure a pipeline of additional targets. This has resulted in the lodging of two additional Exploration Licence Applications covering gold targets identified in the Owen Stanley region.

      Towards resource definition and beyond

Moyle says that the company’s main goals today are looking for a partner for Awari, outlining good geophysical targets to support the sound geology it has at Liamu and at Ubei in identifying drill targets, and to advance exploration at additional targets which have returned anomalous gold, copper and nickel values.

“We would also like to advance the Wavera Project [in Owen Stanley] and continue reviewing the pipeline of new targets that we have developed throughout the year,” he explains.

Goldminex has a lot of good ground to work with and a number of projects in its pipeline today. Its landholding is highly prospective, under-explored and surely lucrative for any suitable third party seeking involvement. Highly experienced and adept teams are all in place, with strong results delivered by solid exploration work previously carried out. Its logistics capabilities surpass those of many other juniors, and its approach to these projects has already proved to be the right track to take. As the company continues to turn up attractive targets, its prominence amongst PNG’s resource boom looks likely to increase strongly. Now is an opportune time for anyone eyeing Goldminex to take its project potential very seriously.

Goldminex Resources to raise A$3.4m for precious metals hunt in Papua New Guinea
Friday, February 24, 2012 by John Phillips
Goldminex Resources to raise A$3.4m for precious metals hunt in Papua New Guinea

Goldminex Resources (ASX: GMX) has exited a trading halt today on the news of capital raising details which will progress exploration and development of its tenements not covered by the Vale farm-in agreement.

Exploration will target nickel and small precious metal deposits interests within all tenement areas in Papua New Guinea.

The funding program will comprise a placement of 10.45 million shares at $0.08 to raise $836,000, plus a two for five entitlement offer at the same price which is fully underwritten - and will therefore deliver another $2.58 million.

John Downie, chairman, commented: “We are pleased to welcome a new cornerstone investor in Kestrel. In a tight equity market, our ability to raise this capital demonstrates a high degree of confidence in our PNG assets and management team.

"The next 18 to 24 months will be an exciting period for the Company and we look forward to providing shareholders with on-going updates regarding our exploration program.”

      Exploration under way

In November 2011 Goldminex commenced a 4000 metre, six hole diamond drilling program to test geophysical targets and extensive Copper and Gold anomalous zones outlined at the Movei, Nesei, Unebu and Iyiowai prospects.

The company said that geochemical and geological work at Nesei and Unebu confirmed the presence of gold-rich porphyry copper mineralisation demonstrating economic grade potential.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 43.629.263 von hbg55 am 21.09.12 09:37:22DAZU mal ein sehr int. vergleich eines HC- users...........

Yesterday GMX came out and released the following

      "HIGHLIGHTS
-GMX continues to identify shear-hosted nickel sulphides at Veri Veri Prospect
      -Results to date include:
      o 0.4m @ 18.5% Ni in a grab rock chip sample
      o 0.25m @ 10% Ni, 1m @5.74% Ni and 1m @4.26% Ni in continuous rock chip samples"

This caught my attention but the market didnt seem that impressed so I left it alone however toda I saw MEU rise 400% on a FOLLOW UP announcement to one it put out 2 days ago

      MEU ASX Ann 19th Sept
"5 km long coincident copper/nickel-in-calcrete anomaly and magnetic target identified on Pundinya in the Gawler Craton.
      • Anomalous copper and nickel-in-calcrete with grades of up to 175 ppm Cu and 330 ppm Ni, similar to the initial results reported from the recent Nova discovery in WA."

      Not much reaction to ann

      Todays Ann
"Extensive outcrop discovered within 5 km long coincident copper/nickel-in-calcrete anomaly and magnetic target at Durkin copper/nickel prospect.
      • Visible copper and nickel sulphide mineralisation occurs at multiple locations."

Seeing the market initially ignore MEU's results to then take it up 400% 2 days later was the push I needed to buy some GMX today as we can expect follow up results

      "-Follow-up trenching results currently awaited
-Comprehensive review of current and historical programs and results initiated"

The company is capped at about $6.5m with around $5m in the bank and so is cashed backed around 5c

Add to this the chart is still near its lows around 5.5c and I see GMX as a worthwhile punt and am happy to buy
My posts express my opinions only nothing more.
I form these opinions from reading ASX announcements, reading articles, broker research and even looking at charts.

Sometimes I'm right sometimes I'm wrong, do your own research then make your own decisions and then you have no one to congratulate/blame but yourself for any financial gains/losses.

      Good luck to us all!

      moin GMX- lers,
