Micro cap Idera Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:IDRA) is up 14% premarket on robust volume in response to its announcement that it has granted a global license to Vivelix Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. to develop and market IMO-9200 for non-malignant gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. Idera has also agreed to create and characterize potential back-up compounds for Vivelix.

Under the terms of the agreement, Idera will receive $15M upfront, up to $140M in milestones and escalating royalties from mid-single-digit to low double-digits. Idera will also be eligible for up to $52.5M in milestones and the same royalty structure for the back-up compounds.

IMO-9200 is an orally available synthetic oligonucleotide-based antagonist of toll-like receptor 7,8 and 9. In preclinical studies, it demonstrated activity in disorders characterized by acute and chronic inflammation in the GI tract.

IDRA

Idera Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDRA) announced yesterday that it intends to offer and sell up to $50,000,000 of shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. In connection with this offering, Idera expects to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase additional shares of common stock, equal to up to 15% of the number of shares of common stock sold in the offering. All of the shares in the offering are to be sold by Idera.

Idera intends to use the net proceeds from this offering, together with existing cash, cash equivalents and investments, to advance clinical development of certain of its programs.

The public offering would dilute shareholders’ investments, and as such Idera shares are currently dropping nearly 12% to $2.29 in per-market trading.
