Quest Minerals & Mining Receives Permit to Mine Coal at Pond Creek Mine
Quest Minerals & Mining Corp. (OTCBB: QMMG; Frankfurt: QMN.F), a Kentucky based operator of energy and mineral related properties, today announced that it has received a permit from the Kentucky Department of Natural Resources to conduct coal mining at its Pond Creek Mine at Slater's Branch, Kentucky. The mining permit is held by Quest's wholly-owned subsidiary, Gwenco, Inc., and allows Gwenco to recommence mining operations at the Pond Creek Mine.
Eugene Chiaramonte, Jr., President of Quest, stated, "We are very pleased that we have received the required mining permits, which allow us to recommence mining operations at our Pond Creek mine at Slater's Branch. We believe that obtaining this permit is perhaps the most significant step we have taken in our efforts to start mining again.
"We now intend to complete the rehabilitation of the mine, including pumping the mine free of water and taking other steps necessary for the mine to be ready for operation."

Also, es bleibt superspannend.

Quest Minerals & Mining Retains General Mining to Conduct Mining Operations at Pond Creek Mine
Quest Minerals & Mining Corp. (OTCBB: QMMG; Frankfurt: QMN.F), a Kentucky based operator of energy and mineral related properties, today announced that it has retained General Mining, LLC, of Wallins, Kentucky, to conduct mining operations at the company’s Pond Creek Mine at Slater’s Branch, Kentucky.
Rodney A. Robinson, President of General Mining, stated, “We are pleased to have this opportunity to partner with Quest and to bring this mine back into full production. My partners and I have over sixty years of mining experience and find this project one of our most exciting. With millions of tons to be mined at Pond Creek and the Lower Cedar Grove above, we look forward to many years of working with Quest on this project.”
Eugene Chiaramonte, Jr., President of Quest, stated, “We are very excited that General Mining has agreed to conduct mining operations at the Pond Creek Mine. General Mining has begun delivering equipment and supplies to the Pond Creek mine. Quest and General Mining are in the process of obtaining all required regulatory approvals and permits in order to recommence mining operations with General Mining as the contract miner. At this time, the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration has approved the company’s mine plans and are in the process of conducting a mine reopening inspection. Once all regulatory approvals and permits are obtained and the rehabilitation of the mine is completed, General Mining will commence mining operations.

Quest Minerals & Mining Provides Updates on Reopening of Pond Creek Mine at Slater's Branch, Acquisition of Parsons Branch Permit
Quest Minerals & Mining Corp. (OTCBB: QMMG; Frankfurt: QMN.F), a Kentucky based operator of energy and mineral related properties, today provided an update on its efforts to reopen its Pond Creek mine located at Slater’s Branch Kentucky.
Rodney A. Robinson, President of General Mining, Quest’s mine operator, stated, “We are pleased to report that our rehabilitation and reopening of the Pond Creek mine is currently on schedule. We have made significant progress in completing the required rehabilitation items, and we continue to believe that we can complete these items by the end of April, 2007. Once we have completed this rehabilitation, we can begin mining coal at Pond Creek.”
In addition, Quest provided an update on the non-binding letter of intent between Quest and Parsons Branch Development to acquire a permit to mine the Elkhorn #2 seam on Parsons Branch located in Mud Creek, Kentucky. Parsons Branch Development has approximately 450,000 tons of clean coal under lease at this location. The letter of intent remains in effect and Quest intends to complete this transaction. Upon completion of the transfer of the permit to Quest, Quest would retain all revenues from coal sales after payment of a royalty to Parsons Branch of $1.50 per clean ton mined and expenses of mine operations, which are expected to be carried out by a contract miner.
Eugene Chiaramonte, Jr., President of Quest, said, “With approximately 450,000 tons of clean coal, we believe that this project has tremendous potential. We have been seeking new energy opportunities to enhance stockholder value, and we believe that the Big Mud Creek region holds great opportunity. We are excited about working with Parson Branch Development to create real value with this prospect.”
The transaction is subject to due diligence, negotiation of definitive agreements, regulatory approval of the transaction, and satisfaction of other customary conditions to closing.

Quest Minerals & Mining Announces Results of Analysis of Channel Samples from Po
d Creek Mine and Lower Cedar Grove Seams
Business Editors / Energy Editors
PATERSON, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)----
Quest Minerals & Mining Corp. (OTCBB: QMMG; Frankfurt: QMN.F), a
Kentucky based operator of energy and mineral related properties,
today announced the results of an analysis of channel samples of coal
from its Pond Creek and Lower Cedar Grove mines, both of which are
located at Slater's Branch, Kentucky.
An analysis of the sample taken from the Pond Creek mine
established that the coal sample was were well above compliance coal
specifications. Run by Standard Laboratories, Inc. located in
Whitesburg, Kentucky, the three samples from the Pond Creek mine face
averaged over 13,000 BTUs as received, with inherent ash of about 6%
and sulfur of about 0.5%.
Rodney A. Robinson, President of General Mining, Quest's mine
operator, stated, "This is some of the better coal I will have mined
in my thirty years of contracting. The low inherent ash and low sulfur
puts this in what is called 'super compliance blend coal' category,
which permits users to blend 'up' lower quality coal. Also, the
analysis establishes that this coal has a S02/MMBTU below 0.8%, which
means that this coal can be used in facilities that have EPA air
quality compliance issues."
Tests on the Lower Cedar Grove, which Quest seeks to reopen once
it has reopened the Pond Creek mine, ran 13,476 BTUs. Eugene
Chiaramonte, Jr., President of Quest, said, "This seam is known as a
metallurgical 'hamburger helper.' While the coke button is somewhat
low, we believe that the high BTU and very good fluidity should permit
shippers to blend this into high price orders to the international met
market."
Quest also announced that General Mining continues to remain on
schedule for the rehabilitation and reopening of the Pond Creek mine.
Quest and General Mining continue to believe that the rehabilitation
can be completed by the end of April, 2007.
If Quest is successful in reopening the Pond Creek mine, it
intends to attempt to reopen its Lower Cedar Grove mine, also located
at Slater's Branch. In anticipation of this reopening, General Mining
has begun moving mining equipment onto Slater's Branch which would be
used to mine at Lower Cedar Grove. Mr. Robinson stated, "The seam at
Lower Cedar Grove is over 48 inches high, which lends itself to high
volume extraction." In order to recommence mining operations at Lower
Cedar Grove, Quest and General Mining will need to rehabilitate the
mine and obtain all required insurance, permits, and approval to
recommence mining operations at Lower Cedar Grove.
