Big Country.
Shares of North Country went way up north as new analyst coverage seems to be creating a visibility rally. The company is currently the 100% beneficial owner of the mineral rights to approximately 567,000 acres of land within the Committee Bay Greenstone Belt, Nunavut. Sure that sounds like lot, but does it really mean? To put it in context, CanaccordGenuity Mining Analyst Wendell Zerb believes North Country controls one of the largest prospective greenstone belts in Canada, located 180 kilometres northeast of Agnico-Eagle’s (AEM) Meadowbank project, and with time and capital couldidentif y material gold resources similar to those of other successful mineral explorers such as Cumberland Resources and HopeBay mines.
Currently, the Three Bluffs deposit, the principal gold zone controlled by North Country, hosts an NI 43-101 compliant resource of 752,000 oz Au (508,000 oz Au indicated at 5.85 g/t Au and 244,000 oz Au inferred at 5.98 g/t Au). The company indicates that the deposit is open for expansion along strike to the west and to depth. North Country plans to complete an updated mineral resource estimation on Three Bluffs in early 2011. According to the company, only 5% of a potential 200 kilometres of prospective stratigraphy has been drill-tested. A 2011 exploration and development program is currently being planned for Three Bluffs and is anticipated to begin in April 2011.

Ecometals EC
Beginn des zweiten Bohrprogramms Sommer 2011
Rio Zarza

"The first thing we want to understand is the management.
How good is the management track record?
How well do they communicate?
Do they own the stock?
Are they inside buyers?
A good management team is a prerequisite. It's mandatory.
Second, what is the nature of the asset?
Could it be world class? "

EC - ecometals
ermutigende news kam anfang oktober... es braucht hier geduld!
Ecometals Announces Plans for Accelerated Exploration Activity at New Surface Gold Discovery at Rio Blanco on the Rio Zarza Gold Project, Ecuador
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 3, 2011) - Ecometals Limited (TSX VENTURE:EC)(BERLIN:GDQ)(FRANKFURT:GDQ) is pleased to announce positive results from its review of a recent discovery of visible gold in a Suarez Fm outcrop along the Rio Blanco in a North South oriented structure parallel to Fruta del Norte.
As a result it intends to conduct accelerated exploration activities in this area.
The extent of this occurrence will be investigated by a program of surface trenching and channel sampling in order to determine future drill targets.
This will be carried out in conjunction with its deep drilling activity in the Misahualli – Suarez basin at Rio Blanco where the latest drill assay results for hole 4 indicated relatively significant levels of silver (32.9g/t over 21m including 100g/t over 4m) and also copper, indicating significant epithermal mineralisation.
Deep drill holes RZDDH11-05 and RSDDH11-06 in the south basin have recently been completed and assay results are awaited.
The significance of this visible gold discovery is that it occurs in outcrop rather than alluvial sediments of unknown provenance, and is accompanied by pervasive silification alteration which is a characteristic of epithermal mineralisation and a key indicator that led to the discovery of Fruta del Norte.
....
William Lamarque, CEO, stated:
"The Board of Ecometals has recently completed its review of the recent exploration results presented to it by S. McMullan and noted the intriguingly high silver levels in Hole RZ DDH11-04 in the Misahualli – Suarez basin as evidence of epithermal mineralization of a promising nature ;
it is also highly encouraged by the discovery of a normally submerged outcrop at Rio Blanco containing visible gold in veins."

Feasibily & Permitting
..... is that the prohibited drilling is the number one most important thing the company has to to move the project from its current PEA level to the Pre-Feasibility (PFS) level.
According to that 43-101 compliant technical report published in May 2011, the recommendations for moving to the PFS started, first and foremost, with this:
"Carry out infill drilling of the deposits in the early stage of the PFS to ensure that sufficient Inferred Resources are promoted to Measured and Indicated categories to support the decision to proceed to DFS."
Then came a list of other things it needed to do, but the infill drilling was given top priority for a good reason.
That's because you can include inferred resources in a PEA but you can't include them in a PFS and as nearly half the mineralized tonnage at Mallku Khota is still in the inferred category, if you can't include that little lot in the mix your numbers are not going to impress.
But of course, the teeny tiny little fact that the SAC.to isn't allowed to drill at its project, when drilling is the single most important ingredient in the PFS that's supposedly coming out in 2012, isn't mentioned in the company literature at all. After all, it is a Canadian junior mining company run by an Ex-NadaGold director. Waddya expect?

CMA (cream minerals)

CXT (creso)
Pinetree als großaktionaer
VAX (vantex)
rob McEwen ist hier größter aktionaer; super bohrergebnisse

Hallo; hast du andere Angaben als?: http://canadianinsider.com/node/7
thx und schönes Wochenende
how to invest
--------------------
TGR: You use your industry knowledge to make your investment decisions. What are some off-the-radar resources that everyday investors could use to help them better understand resource companies coming into the market?
PZ: I use a lot of the same resources as everyone else.
I start my day by going to kitco.com.
But one resource that a lot of your readers don't know about is a blog by this guy who goes by the alias "Otto" at www.incakolanews.blogspot.com.
I find it is a very useful blog.
Inca Kola is on a jihad of exposing the bad hats in our sector. It is wonderful insight. He's not a geologist, but he's very good at vetting management teams. He has a good eye for these really early-stage companies. That's something that I look at on a daily basis. And a lot of it is a free service.
TGR: What investment advice do you have for our readers before we go?
PZ: Investors need to make sure that they take the time to understand what they are buying. Do some math—
calculate how many cents or dollars per-share this thing is actually worth. Then compare that to what it is trading at and hopefully there is a big delta.
Next, find a good management team with a good project that has a number of catalysts that will serve for promotion. Try to understand the catalysts. Understand what a management team is going to do in the next six months to a year. And follow that company to see if it is delivering on those catalysts. Without catalysts, share price appreciation is not going to happen.
Ignore the macro picture. All it is going to do is make investors get overly confident, buy at the highs, get overly depressed at the lows and sell at precisely the wrong times. Investors need to develop a cast-iron stomach so they can handle the absolute extreme volatility that this sector offers. Investors literally want to be buying when they are throwing up, when they can no longer look at their portfolio. When they are at a cocktail party bragging to all their friends about how smart they are for buying this stock at $0.10 and now it's at $3.00, that is when investors should want to sell. It is so counterintuitive, but that is what they have to do. It is about discipline. Investing is not about being smart, although obviously having smarts helps.
TGR: That's really good. Thanks, Paul. It's been a pleasure.

„ I have about 7% invested in bullion because it is an anchor of value. Physical gold helps protect against currency depreciation.
I have about 10–20% in small-cap companies,
20–30% in mid-caps and
30–40% in large caps.
The percentages can vary as the valuations change even though we don’t trade very often. Turnover is usually less than 10% in a year.“

http://goldrushresources.ca/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/GOD-P…

TGR: What companies in northern Ontario's Red Lake gold camp do you find interesting right now?
JW: Confederation Minerals Ltd. (CFM:TSX.V), Prodigy Gold Inc. (PDG:TSX.V) and, just outside of Red Lake, Foundation Resources Inc. (FDN:TSX.V). Foundation has recently become a top pick in that region because it has 860,000 ounces (oz) gold and an NI 43-101 valued at $5.80/oz in the ground based on its share price. It's just a spectacular opportunity.
TGR: Prodigy put out a new resource estimate on its Magino project Nov. 2 that said there's about 55% more gold there than previously thought. What are your thoughts on that project?
JW: We hold Prodigy in the fund and I continue to follow it. That new resource certainly demonstrates the deposit is growing. It's still open in multiple directions. The company is aggressively developing it. The market hasn't been kind to Prodigy, but Prodigy is absolutely one to hold because it's an excellent opportunity at a great price.
TGR: What stands out about Confederation?
JW: Confederation is really interesting. Its joint-venture partner on the Newman Todd project is Redstar Gold Corp. (RGC:TSX.V), which holds 30%. Think about this: The company that owns 30% is valued at $50 million (M), but the company that owns 70% is valued at $17M. Redstar's other projects are not really interesting projects. I've got to assume that its share-price valuation is based on Newman Todd. There's very little risk of this not becoming a mine. We're headed toward an era similar to 2008 where the prices are astronomically low. Fortunes are going to be made in the years ahead by the people who were smart enough to pick up these high-caliber deals at super low prices.

TGR: Let's move to Latin America where you've had a lot of success stock picking. The Midas Letter Opportunity Fund has a position in Newstrike Capital Inc. (NES:TSX.V), which is developing the Ana Paula project in Mexico.
JW: Ana Paula is an astonishingly fantastic deposit. It seems like at least once every two months it puts out a new intercept. The most spectacular intercept on Nov. 23 was 135.5m grading 5 g/t and 75m grading 4 g/t. It has had other jaw-dropping intercepts. It's the gift that keeps on giving. The share price is not reflecting the immensity of the potential largely because there is no resource calculation. When the resource calculation comes out by the end of the first quarter of 2012, Newstrike will start to see the valuations it deserves.
TGR: Newstrike's burn rate was about $820,000/month through the first eight months of 2011, according to an investor presentation. How long can it last before it has to do another financing?
JW: The company had $19M in liquid assets recently, so it will be late 2013 before it runs out of money. Newstrike will likely see how the market responds to its resource calculation and what the market conditions are at that time. If it's getting the valuation that it deserves then it could do a financing. The company won't wait until it is at $0 to raise money, but it's certainly not going to do it at these valuations.
TGR: Ana Paula certainly seems to have massive open-pit potential. Are there others that you would compare to this?
JW: I would compare it to Ventana Gold Corp. (VEN:TSX) in terms of performance. It's got all the earmarks of a super high-grade deposit.

Follow the Management Names: Taylor MacDonald
TICKERS: BRI; BRIZF, CFM, CMA; CRMXF; DFL, MNA, NCG, RD, RLE, SSL, SND, SLW, SLM, TV; TREVF, UEC

Well-structured deals, quality assets and high-octane management teams with "enough cash to get through the next year or two" are what Pathfinder Asset Management Limited's Associate Portfolio Manager Taylor MacDonald is looking for.
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
TGR: Do you follow certain people in terms of management?
TM: We are trying to figure out whom the next mining industry "rock stars" will be. So far, I would name Amir Adnani, Ian Slater and Nolan Watson.
Amir is the co-founder of Uranium Energy Corp. (UEC:NYSE.A), North America's most widely followed new uranium producer. The company is about to turn the key on its Goliad In-Situ Recovery project in Texas.
Amir also recently founded a new company called Brazil Resources Inc. (BRI:TSX.V; BRIZF:OTCQX). It has a stellar management team. The CEO, Stephen Swatton, was head of business development and exploration for BHP Billiton Ltd. (BHP:NYSE; BHPLF:OTCPK). The management team also includes the former head of exploration for Kinross Gold Corp. (K:TSX; KGC:NYSE) in Brazil and Herb Dhaliwal, who was Canada's Minister of Natural Resources. In all, this team has been involved in discovering 10 million ounces (Moz) gold in Brazil. The company is looking for large, district-scale opportunities. Brazil Resources also has a strategic partnership with the Brasilinvest Group, Brazil's first and best-recognized merchant bank. Brazilinvest bought 10% of the company and is using its considerable local network to bring in gold projects.
This company has a very tight share structure with only 35M shares out. It just closed a $4.8M private placement at $1.10/share. All told, the company has over $10M in cash on hand.
--------------------
--------------------
TGR: And Ian Slater?
TM: Ian, who used to work with the Lundin Group, now runs three companies. Red Eagle Mining Corp. (RD:TSX.V) is based in Colombia. That company has two projects, Santa Rosa and Pavo Real, as well as a brownfield copper project called Mina Vieja.
He also runs Slater Mining (SLM:TSX.V) and a private company called Black Eagle Mining, which owns a metallurgical coal deposit in Alberta. Black Eagle should be going public in 2012, and I would definitely watch for that.
TGR: Red Eagle's Santa Rosa project is developing into a low-grade, bulk tonnage project. What are your thoughts on the initial drill results that came out on Santa Rosa in late November?
TM: Well, those results were low grade and didn't get the market excited.
TGR: Nothing seems to get the market excited right now.
TM: True. But Red Eagle has a great geological team and a good property package. The company has drilled 18 holes in the shear zone and has assays on five of them. We should see the rest in January. The preponderance of geological evidence tells us to expect some decent results going forward.
The company has drilled over a kilometer and a half, consistently returning 15 to 55 meters (m) of 1 gram per ton gold (g/t) with some high-grade veins. There is good potential for an open pit, heap-leach mine with a 1 Moz-plus gold deposit.
Red Eagle has also put two holes into Pavo Real, with the assays expected in January. The geo-chemical surveys on Pavo Real lit up like a Christmas tree. There were multiple trenches of 4 g/t and adits of 2.3 g/t over 27m and very significant gold and silver anomalies.
TGR: Red Eagle is trading at $0.75/share. Is that a good entry point?
TM: I believe so. We bought it privately at $0.75/share before it went public. We've made significant advances since then. Lumina Capital has come in as a strong supporter, which is good validation. I think it's tough to get hurt here.
TGR: You also mentioned Nolan Watson?
TM: Yes. Nolan is the former CFO of Silver Wheaton Corp. (SLW:TSX; SLW:NYSE) and holds the record for being the youngest CFO of a NYSE-listed company ever.
He currently sits at the helm of Sandstorm Gold Ltd. (SSL:TSX.V) and Sandstorm Metals & Energy Ltd. (SND:TSX.V). The companies provide non-dilutive financing alternatives to companies looking to put mines into production and provide investors with lower risk alternatives for mining investment. Nolan has been a true innovator in mining finance and I'd encourage people to follow him as he executes on his vision.
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
TGR: Which other equity positions made the cut when you pared your resource-based holdings?
TM: Our best pick remains Confederation Minerals Ltd. (CFM:TSX.V). It is earning a 70% stake in the Newman Todd gold project in the western portion of Northern Ontario's Red Lake Camp. The company has drilled over 60 holes on the property, with multiple intercepts returning several ounces per ton.
The company has hit on almost every hole it has drilled.
CEO Dr. Lawrence Dick has four major discoveries to his credit including Collahuasi and Can Can in Chile, Golden Bear in British Columbia and the San Jose silver deposit in Mexico. We are hoping this will be his fifth.
Confederation has $9M in cash and a $17M market cap. Newman Todd has multi-million ounce potential. I'd caution that there are some 9.6M $0.45 warrants that expire mid-January 2012, which is partly to blame for the depressed share price of late. Once these expire, I'd expect to see a lot of selling pressure evaporate.
It also owns half of a potash asset in Utah that it is combining with a company called Magna Resources Ltd. (MNA:CNX), which owns the other half of the asset. Confederation is putting $2M into Magna at $0.30/share. In a year or so from now, shareholders will get a distribution of roughly two-thirds a share of Magna for every share of Confederation they own. Notionally, that is worth up to $0.21/share and likely a whole lot more.
TGR: Where is Confederation at in terms of its earn-in agreement? Are you concerned that the company does not own that project outright?
TM: In terms of the earn-in, the company is on schedule. It has to spend $5M on exploration, issue 500,000 shares to Redstar Gold Corp. (RGC:TSX.V) and make a $250,000 cash payment to earn an initial 50%. It has to fund a preliminary assessment of the property, issue another 500,000 shares and pay another $250,000 by November 2015 to fully vest the earn-in. By our math, that means Confederation will have to spend another $12–15M, likely involving some underground exploration work. While it has until 2015 to do this, we believe this will be completed by the end of 2013.
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
TGR: What are some other names you are interested in?
TM: We like North Country Gold Corp. (NCG:TSX.V). The company is developing its Three Bluffs gold project, a large, open-pittable, multi-million ounce potential deposit, in Nunavut. It recently closed a $12M bought deal, which gives the company enough cash to continue drilling through 2012. There is massive potential for very high-grade gold from surface.
The concerns are infrastructure, given its location, and drilling expense. There is certainly consolidation in the region and a number of developing mines. But, I caution investors because it is expensive to operate up there and the exploration season is very short. At $0.75/share, down from just over $2/share, there is a lot of value in North Country Gold. And, there aren't a lot of higher-grade open-pittable deposits in the world.
The management team includes John Williamson, who is part of the Discovery Group, the same group that spawned Kaminak Gold Corporation (KAM:TSX.V). North Country is following a similar model to Cumberland, which owned the Meadowbank gold deposit. That was purchased by Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM:TSX; AEM:NYSE) for about $710M back in February 2007. A more recent yardstick transaction was Agnico's purchase of Comaplex for its Meliadine project for $739M in April 2010. Agnico is actively consolidating the gold space in Nunavut and I'd expect North Country to eventually be a target for them.
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
--------------------
TGR: And a last name?
TM: I would end with Cream Minerals Ltd. (CMA:TSX.V), which is one of the exceptions to my cash-position rule. It does not have a huge cash position, but I like its flagship asset—the Nuevo Milenio mine in Nayarit, Mexico. The company has great infrastructure and a really good management team. This project has a 54 Moz silver equivalent resource. The average grades are around 250 g/t silver and 1.7 g/t gold.
We expect a new resource estimate this quarter at about twice the current resource and the company has just completed a 20,000m drill program. It has very strong institutional shareholders in Sprott and Pinetree.
We got involved because this is one of the cheapest advanced exploration silver stories out there. It is trading at roughly $0.60/oz silver equivalent in the ground versus about $1.50/oz for its peer group, and this is before the resource upgrade. Some early takeout bids were blocked by shareholders. Endeavour Silver Corp (EDR:TSX; EXK:NYSE) tried two unsuccessful hostile bids last year. Minco Silver Corp (MSV:TSX) tried to ink a joint venture for 70% of the project, which shareholders refused.
There also are a number of $0.24 warrants, largely owned by Sprott and Pinetree. According to management, some of those warrants have been getting exercised. If they all are exercised, it will fully fund the company for the foreseeable future. That may be what is happening. Although the share structure is among the worst in our portfolio—I think there are 230M shares out there—if you look at it on a dollars-per-ounce basis, it is extremely attractive.
TGR: Are you happy to see 2011 in the rearview mirror?
TM: Absolutely. While there is more turbulence to come—the proverbial black swans getting sucked into jet engines—overall I am optimistic. I think the long-term, bullish picture for commodities in general is still intact.
TGR: Taylor, thank you for your insights.

Hoch-gewichtete TOP-Favoriten performten ausgezeichnet,

- seit jahren keine nachhaltig profitable produktion,

Why investors hate junior golds
Peter Koven Mar 29, 2012
It is no secret that gold equities have badly underperformed the price of bullion itself in recent years.
Senior producers are struggling because of
rising costs,
operational problems,
competition from ETFs, and a simple
lack of confidence that current gold prices are sustainable.
If anything, junior gold miners have done even worse. They are being dragged down by a lot of the same factors as the seniors, but there are problems unique to the juniors as well. In their “Junior Mining Weekly” report, analysts at Canaccord Genuity put together a list of them:
Too many companies: The sheer volume of junior gold companies makes it hard for the quality names to get noticed.
Too many low grade deposits: High gold prices allow companies to lower their cut-off grades and add lots of ounces to low-grade deposits. The problem with this strategy is that capital cost requirements go up as well, a big issue for cash-strapped juniors.
Over promote/under deliver: There are some recent cases of discoveries that started out strong, got heavily promoted, and fizzled out. OK, there are some not-so-recent cases too.
Too much spending/overhead: The analysts wrote that management teams “have not exercised sufficient caution” as market conditions changed. They burned too much cash, and ignored financing windows because they did not want to issue equity when their share prices were weak. Now many of their balance sheets are running low.
A lack of genuine world-class discoveries: Nothing new here. High-quality gold discoveries have been scarce for a long time.
A lack of M&A: Senior producers have shown little interest in acquiring juniors over the last several months. That has removed the takeover premium from companies that were once considered likely targets.
To sum up, the analysts noted that this is not a time when a “rising tide will lift all boats.”
Instead, investors should focus on junior gold miners with
proven management teams, strong balance sheets, and promising land packages in low-risk jurisdictions.
