Nach dem starken Anstieg bis auf 0,70 USD haben wir wieder 50% abgegeben und auf diesem Niveau konsolidiert. Jetzt sieht alles wieder nach einem neuen Anstieg aus. Wenn sich die Aussichten auch nur ansatzweise erfüllen, dann sehen wir hier eine deutlich höhere Bewertung.

If you have read the article – “Why invest in Cyclodextrins” (CTD Website, www.cyclodex.com, CTD News section, January 19, 2001) and you are persuaded that the data and the conclusions reached from the data are reasonable – READ ON.

CD’s will definitely have a major effect on bottom-line financial performance; this author can think of four basic CD-related business activities that can positively affect a company`s bottom-line:


Companies which depend on Research and Development involving chemistry for improving or creating products to be sold.
Companies which derive significant revenues from the manufacture of CD’s as raw materials.
Companies distributing or manufacturing products or services that capture new or significant additional market share because of the benefits made possible by CD’s.
Companies who are actively creating opportunities for the use of CD’s as business development specialists.
It is a somewhat indirect exercise to pick out businesses for investments in the first category, Research & Development. Universities, biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and chemical companies are all good possibilities. The biggest difficulty is learning what applications are being studied in order to assess the potential for bottom line financial impact. In the case of Universities, the careful investor has to be aware of the activities of the technology transfer and patent and licensing departments within the University system. The upside is fantastic in terms of return, when the right venture is found; the downside is the tedium of false and misdirected starts that sap the investors’ research fervor. The biotech companies all let the investor know about “great new advances” at every opportunity; however, sifting the chaff from the wheat is not easy when the information consists of 99% chaff. The pharmaceutical companies are more discrete. Their Research and Development activities are best monitored by a thorough knowledge of the medical areas each pharmaceutical company specializes in, and careful monitoring of patents applied for and issued. This category is probably the most likely to produce positive but not life-style altering successes. The list of Pharmaceutical companies filing US patents covering CD’s is not an unreasonable place to start. All currently have projects and/or clinical trials utilizing CD’s, but the regulatory hurdle makes it extremely difficult to time the investment. Until now, only Janssen Pharmaceutica, a Johnson & Johnson affiliate, has successfully gotten a CD containing pharmaceutical on the market in the US (Sporanox®; contains Hydroxpropyl BCD; oral preparation of antifungal itraconazole; 2000). It’s certain that many more CD-containing drugs are in various stages of approval throughout the pharmaceutical industry; but, everyone is waiting for the next one that will raise the water above the dam. Chemical companies are similar to the pharmaceutical companies as opportunities for investment. Eastman-Kodak Co. is a possibility where a careful and knowledgeable investigation could pull up some real eye- opening opportunities. Sigma/Aldrich Chemical Co., the largest distributor of research chemicals in the world, has created a very successful line of water-soluble chemicals (made so by the use of CD’s) sold as part of its tissue-culture specialty chemicals. This water solubilizing technology is applicable to literally hundreds of other chemicals in Sigma’s vast selection; it simply remains for Sigma to pick the niche for the next line expansion.

The next area, manufacturers of CD’s in the U.S., is much easier to analyze for potential. There are currently two US located companies sharing the bulk business. Cerestar USA in Hammond, Indiana (formerly American Maize-Products, Co., and now a subsidiary of Cargill) and Wacker Biochem USA, Adrian, Michigan. Neither is available for public investment; in both organizations CD’s represent a small part of the parent’s income. Of the two, Wacker is the more aggressive in its commitment to CD’s as an important revenue producer (demonstrated by dollars dedicated to new product applications). The technology of manufacturing CD’s and the cheapness of the raw materials makes it inevitable that smaller manufacturers will proliferate as the demand for CD’s becomes great enough to support niche producers. Investment in such companies will probably not be available for many years yet.

The third category represents a much more accessible investment group, but suffers from the diluting effect of all the other products sold by the company on the bottom line impact of the products improved with CD’s. The following companies have made major investments in commercial CD containing products: Avon, Johnson & Johnson, Procter and Gamble, and Rohm and Haas; however the effect of an APS® in Avon’s case; Sporanox® in Johnson & Johnson’s case; or Bounce®/Febreze®/Downy for Procter and Gamble, to improve the company’s investment potential is indeed hard to assess. The likelihood that the CD technology will expand to other products in the commercial offerings from these companies, however, is great; and therefore the impact of CD’s will be magnified as time goes on. This third category also includes companies that provide services made possible by CD’s; namely in the removal of all types of hazardous or polluting materials from the environment. Oil spills can now be cleaned up more easily; “brown fields” can be returned to safe use; hazardous waste sites can be cleaned up.

Finally, we get to the category in which the concentration on CD technology and products is the main business of the company. The ability to exploit the revenue producing capability of products developed, technologies developed, businesses developed, information shared, products sold, and consultation provided is turned into revenue. Only one such company is known to this author – CTD Holdings Inc. (CTDH), Gainesville, FL. CTDH is available for public investment (symbol, CTDH). CTDH is the world’s foremost authority on the countless applications of Cyclodextrins.

Cyclodextrins (we’ll refer to them as CDs – no relation to music) are fantastically useful natural chemicals – they come from corn, wheat, potatoes, etc

I interviewed CEO Rick Strattan yesterday & am impressed with the substantial appreciation potential of this emerging growth situation.

CDs make things water soluble. I’m talking about things that really aren’t water soluble. Doesn’t sound too exciting, does it? Believe me – it is.

One Possible Application of CDs

It’s chemotherapy. Because the drug used in chemotherapy is not soluble in water, it is necessary to use a lot of the drug in order for enough of it to saturate the cancer cells it is designed to destroy. If it were soluble in water, all of it would be available to be delivered to the cancer cells. That would allow a very small dose of the drug to be used instead of the really strong dose now used. The strong dose now used causes the terrible side effects of chemotherapy.

Think of it this way – if a currently effective drug could be made soluble in water, you might be able to use a dose perhaps a tenth as strong, greatly reducing such side effects as hair loss, nausea, etc.

Rick gave the following example – In a currently effective drug, assume that one molecule out of 10 gets to a cancer cell – the other nine destroy healthy cells. Add an appropriate CD formulation to the drug, making it water soluble, & you could theoretically use a dose one tenth the strength to get the same effect.

A More Down-to-Earth Application

It`s the Porta Potties you see on every construction site. If you’ve ever been in one, you know they don’t smell very nice, & you probably were concerned about how healthy it was to be in contact with any of the surfaces in them.

The chemicals used to cover up the smell & to disinfect the surfaces usually lack staying power, & probably smell as bad as the odors they are intended to mask.

If you take iodine & add a CD formulation to it, you get a remarkable result. Incidentally, iodine doesn’t sting – it’s the alcohol used to make the iodine soluble that stings – alcohol is mostly used because iodine is not soluble in water. By encapsulating iodine in CDs, you do not have to use alcohol – the resulting aqueous solution will improve performance by better deodorization & sanitizing. After all, iodine is still the world’s best disinfectant for the money.

There are Literally Thousands of Applications for CDs

They can be used in cleaning up the environment, for example – they can clean up property that harbors abandoned gas tanks, & even dry cleaning establishments that move – (the EPA requires extensive work to eliminate the residual chemicals). Rick told me that aerial spraying of the Valdez Oil Spill with CDs would have caused the oil molecules to be encapsulated & fall to the bottom of the sea, at a far lower cost, & a far lower incidence of wildlife death.

One Successful Commercial Application in the U.S.

Proctor & Gamble has marketed a product that contains a CD (they refer to it as a starch derivative). The product eliminates odors – such as cigarette smoke that lingers on clothing. The odor molecules responsible for the smokey odor usually require dry cleaning to remove them. By being able to use an atomized aqueous solution of a CD, no dangerous dry cleaning chemicals are necessary; & the deodorization process can be done right in one’s own home or office. The conclusion is that P&G added a CD formulation (P&G filed more than 200 patent applications since 4/12/2001 relating to CDs) that could be misted onto fabric without damaging it. The result? Rick feels the result was Febreeze®, a major profit success for P&G.

CDs are improving the performance characteristics of products in so many industries that CTDH management decided early-on not to chase specific product development tactics, but rather to build expertise in all the areas necessary to develop commercial applications of CDs, whether it was for pharmaceuticals, food products, environmental clean-up, electronics, dietary supplements, over-the-counter medicinals, natural health products, cosmetics, & on & on.

On 11/20/2003, CTDH announced it received an order valued at more than $100,000 from a major pharmaceutical company for Cyclodextrins. CTD Holdings received a 10% pre-payment from the pharmaceutical company that will be using the Cyclodextrins to repeat a clinical trial it began with product it purchased from CTD Holdings 18 months ago.

Rick commented: "Due to the competitive nature of the pharmaceutical industry, the company has asked CTD Holdings to keep its research with Cyclodextrins confidential. Because of our sensitivity to that issue, we are able to work with several large companies simultaneously in their product development."

My Opinion

Selling CDs is one part of CTDH’s business. Another is consulting to corporations that want to greatly improve the performance of their products. CTDH’s customers include Bayer (NYSE: BAY), Bristol-Myers Squibb (NYSE: BMY), Human Genome Sciences (Nasdaq: HGSI), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ), Pfizer (NYSE: PFE), Allergan (NYSE: AGN), & many others.

That brings up what really impresses me – the plan is: (1) Acquire companies that have products that could substantially benefit from CDs; (2) Using CTDH’s expertise, make those products into great successes; (3) Sell the companies for large profits; & (4) Use the resulting capital to accelerate the acquisition process.

That scenario is not only possible, it’s very probable, because of the tremendous number of CD applications, & the additional profits top performing products can generate.

European Consulting Firm Issues Strong Buy Recommendation for CTDH

Ich hoffe für Dich, dass CTDH nochmal in diesen Tiefen konsolidiert, glaube aber, dass die Aktie momentan zwischen $ 0,40 - 0,45 konsolidiert!

Der bald zu veröffentlichende 10K wird sehr gute Zahlen hervorbringen, die den Kurs wahrscheinlich weiter gen Norden treiben. Also beobachten, aber nicht den Einstieg verpassen!!

Also Leute, wenn Ihr langfristig in einen innovativen Wert investieren wollt, dann jetzt kaufen, bevor dieser Wert von der Masse entdeckt wird.
Ich schließe jetzt mein Depot und widme mich den wirklich wichtigen Dingen des Lebens - meiner Liebsten - hab sie in letzter Zeit ziemlich vernachlässigt!

Im Moment wird psivida wie verrückt gekauft. Da ist die Konzentration auf andere gute Werte sicherlich nicht sehr ausgeprägt.

Schön ware es, wenn Nachrichten kämen von CTD, die grössere Aufmerksamkeit erregten.

Ich halte CTD nach wie vor für ein gutes Investment und denke, das Risiko ist gering und es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis wir hier weiter kommen.

Die Experten von "Small Cap Research" stufen die Aktie von CTD Holdings (/ WKN 936407) mit dem Rating "strong buy" ein. CTD Holdings (CTDH) sei aus der Idee entstanden, die Vorteile der großen Vielfalt von Cyclodextrinen (CD) für die Entwicklung neuer Produkte zu nutzen. Cyclodextrine seien Moleküle, die Öl und Wasser zusammenbringen würden und überall potenzielle Anwendungsmöglichkeiten hätten, wo Öl und Wasser zusammen genutzt werden müssten. Sie fänden sich in vielen Produkten des täglichen Gebrauchs wie etwa Waschmitteln, Deosprays oder Kosmetika wieder. (OTC Bulletin Board: EEGI) announced today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire majority control of CTD Holdings, Inc. 850 tausend stück. mal sehen wie das weitergeht.jedenfalls macht ctdh unsatz bei 80 prozent gewinn. cycolab aus ungarn wurde auch übernommen. mit ca. 2-3 mill umsatz im jahr.
also ist die bewertung ein witz.
das müssen bloß die anderen noch wahrnehmen.

Mal wieder was neues zu Clyclodextrines:
Gestern lief in Fernsehen ein Bericht über Kleidung, die keine Gerüche mehr annehmen soll, bzw. die Gerüche umgehend wieder neutralisiert. Also ein Abend in der Kneipe oder an der Frittenbude ohne unangenehme Stinknachwirkungen.
Das Geheimnis hinter diesen besonderen Stoffen liegt in der speziellen Ausstattung mit einer Appretur, die als wirksamen Bestandteil Cylodextrine enthält.
Wenn das Schule macht, tut sich hier ein enormer Markt auf, der CTD Schwung verleihen dürfte.

frage ist also, wie seriös ist die ganze sache.

eine aktie kann nie zu teuer sein um sie zu kaufen und nie zu billig um sie zu verkaufen.

Depending on the effect of such thinking on the company’s stock price, management will be able to implement this acquisition strategy more or less quickly. More than 0.5% of US Patents issued mention cyclodextrins; almost 1.0% of the US Patents applied for mention cyclodextrins. This rate has been maintained since 2001. European and Japanese manufacturers are way ahead of the US manufacturers in putting every-day products greatly improved using cyclodextrins on the market. They have a 25 year head start! How much longer can it be before cyclodextrins dominate the radar screen? You can count the number of companies specializing in cyclodextrins on a hand missing a few fingers and CTD’s current acquisition will reduce that number further.

damals von topsmallcaps empfohlen.
seid zwei jahren in umstrukturierung mit einer nettomarge vom 85%.
