Die Experten von "BörseGo" sind in ihrem aktuellen "Tec-Report" der Meinung, dass sich für die Senomyx-Aktie (ISIN US81724Q1076/ WKN 634795) eine gute Kaufgelegenheit bietet.
Senomyx habe sich vorgenommen, den ständig ansteigenden Verbrauch von Zucker, dem Geschmacksverstärker MSG (Monosodium Glutamat) und Salz in der Ernährung und in den Getränken, die man täglich zu sich nehme, dramatisch zu reduzieren, ohne dass man auf den so "unentbehrlichen" Geschmack dieser Zutaten verzichten müsse.

Der Vorsprung, über den Senomyx in der Entwicklung ihrer Produkte verfüge, scheine gewaltig und auch durch Patente abgesichert zu sein. Insbesondere habe sich Senomyx langfristige Forschungsabkommen mit einer Reihe von Universitäten und Instituten gesichert, die sich verpflichten würden, alle Ergebnisse, die sie in der Geschmacksforschung erzielen würden, ausschließlich an Senomyx weiterzugeben.

Dass Senomyx seinen Vorsprung halten werde, erscheine den Experten wahrscheinlich, sei aber keineswegs sicher. Optimisten sähen die Aktie, die heut bei knapp 13 USD notiere, bereits bei 35 USD. Die Risiken seien aber noch erheblich. Das habe gerade die Entwicklung des Aktienkurses gezeigt. Er sei von 22 USD im August dieses Jahres auf 12 USD im November zurückgefallen.

Senomyx Soars on Upbeat Analyst Note

LA JOLLA, Calif. — Shares of flavor research company Senomyx Inc. soared Wednesday after Bear Stearns initiated coverage on the stock with a "Outperform" rating, citing its "impressive" upside potential, and set a $31 price target for 2007.

Its stock climbed $3.13, or 24 percent, to $16.12 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq.

Analyst Terry Bivens cited the upside potential of the company's agreements with top food and beverage companies including Kraft Foods Inc., Nestle and Coca-Cola Co.

"If Senomyx's compounds improve nutritional profiles yet maintain or improve flavor, then these firms' revenues and margins could grow dramatically," the analyst wrote in a note to investors.

But, the analyst points out, the 8-year-old company does carry significant risk as it has never been profitable, nor have its compounds ever been sold in a food or beverage. Those risks could include failure to create a viable compound as well as litigation.

Specifically, the company focuses on finding and making flavor enhancers and substitutes. Some of those compounds, the investors note points out, could reduce the need for added salt, sugar and MSG in food.

"Should the firm succeed in its efforts, its global revenue potential could be very large," the note said.

The note points out that collaborators must pay a royalty of up to 4 percent of a product's net sales if it contains a Senomyx compound. Also, potential competitors face significant barriers, in gaining patents and lead time, leaving the field open in the meantime for Senomyx.

The stock's volume also jumped Wednesday, hitting more than 908,000, well-above its average volume of roughly 199,500. It has been trading between $11.50 and $22.80 over the last 52 weeks, and is up 7 percent since the start of the year.

The company, in its first-quarter report, said it expects to continue to receive research funding from one or more of the six company it has agreements with through 2009.

Bekanntlich führe die Verwendung von zuviel Salz und Zucker in Nahrungsmitteln zu den bekannten Problemen wie Übergewicht und Bluthochdruck. Allein in den USA würden Schätzungen zufolge etwa 55 Mio. Menschen unter dem Problem des Bluthochdrucks leiden. Senomyx habe ein Verfahren entwickelt, dass den Geschmack von Nahrungsmitteln verstärke, damit die Beigabe von Salz und anderen Zugaben in Lebensmitteln reduziert werden könne.

Die im Jahr 1988 gegründete Gesellschaft sei eigentlich ein Labor, das Produkte für die Lebensmittelkonzerne entwickle. Die daraus resultierenden Umsätze seien Lizenz- oder Forschungseinnahmen. Die Zahlen lägen derzeit noch auf einem sehr niedrigen Niveau. Senomyx schätze das Volumen im laufenden Jahr auf etwa 14 bis 16 Mio. USD. Allerdings werde ein Verlust in Höhe von 20 Mio. USD anfallen. Dies scheine aber bei einer Liquidität von 79 Mio. USD kein Problem zu sein, zumal das Unternehmen bis 2008 voraussichtlich einen Gewinn abwerfen werde.

Mit Unternehmen wie Nestlé, Cadbury Schweppes, Coca Cola, Kraft und Campbell Soup würden bereits zahlreiche Abkommen bestehen und könnten Senomyx in den nächsten Jahren fette Gewinne bescheren. Allerdings sei ein Investment in die Senomyx-Aktie mit höheren Risiken behaftet. Diese könnten aber mit der Stopp-Loss-Marke bei 12,50 USD abgesichert werden. Vom Höchstkurs von 22 USD im August 2005 habe die Aktie mittlerweile rund ein Drittel an Wert verloren.

Die Experten von "Geldbrief" sehen bei der Senomyx-Aktie aktuell eine Bodenbildung, die Platz für einen Anstieg bis in den Bereich von 25 USD eröffnet.

Cramer's 'Mad Money' Recap: Senomyx and Match

Although Senomyx (SNMX - commentary - Cramer's Take) has "massive losses and barely any revenues," Jim Cramer told viewers of his "Mad Money" TV show on Friday to look into buying this stock in a week or two.

"For most investors, speculation is a dirty word. But for me, it's the way to play the game," Cramer said.

Although Senomyx has almost no revenue whatsoever, he believes it's a great idea to buy this stock. Cramer advised people to put it into their "Mad Money" speculative portfolio. However, he reminded viewers that speculative stocks should take up no more than 20% of their portfolios.

Don't buy Senomyx -- a relatively unknown and small biotech company -- just yet, Cramer said. "Wait a week or two to buy it, and don't buy it after hours." Use small limit orders to buy it over time, he said.

Senomyx is the company for the current era, where people eat too many sweet and salty foods, but don't want to become obese or overweight, Cramer said.

This biotech company solves this problem by adding a chemical to foods and tricking people's taste buds. The amount of this chemical added is so small that Senomyx doesn't need to get FDA approval, Cramer said.
