Ich merke schon, wir sprechen eine Sprache!
Werde meine Position halten!

Beyond the Nanosphere
Outside of the companies in the Nanosphere, Australian biotechnology company
pSivida [PSDV] (see Companies to Watch, August 2003) also clarified the relationships surrounding BioSilicon, its honeycomb-structured silicon particles with applications in slow-release drug delivery, brachytherapy, tissue engineering, orthopedics and diagnostics.
Previously the web between pSivida, subsidiaries pSiMedica and pSiOncology, and
QinetiQ (part of the British Government’s Defense Evaluation and Research Agency) was difficult to parse. pSivida now owns 100% of pSiMedica and pSiOncology, and QinetiQ has become pSivida’s largest shareholder at 17.5%. pSivida also incorporated a new company, AION Diagnostics, to develop diagnostic
applications for BioSilicon. While these relationships may look like a bit of alphabet soup, the important thing to know is that pSivida now has an ADR on the NASDAQ National Market, under the ticker PSDV. Similar to Starpharma, each pSivida ADR will be equivalent to 10 ordinary shares as traded on the Australian and Frankfurt Stock Exchanges. The stock debuted Jan. 27 at $10.50, but has since fallen to about $8.80.
Other recent highlights for pSivida include positive interim clinical results for a Phase IIa trial of BrachySil in patients with inoperable liver cancer. So far the study has demonstrated average tumor volume regression of 80%, with as much as 100% regression seen in some smaller tumors, and no adverse events were reported. pSivida also announced a deal with an undisclosed global pharmaceutical company to evaluate BioSilicon for the controlled release of drug targets, and with Japan’s ITOCHU Corp. to develop and commercialize BioSilicon in Japan and Asia. Right now I am not recommending pSivida, but I am keeping my eye on it and will keep you posted.
