AWAITING KYRGYZ PARLIAMENT APPROVAL
Cameco buys "certainty" for $120m, minority share ownership at Kumtor gold
Cameco has given in to political coercion by the Kyrgyz Parliament, agreeing to hand over control of Centerra’s Kumtor gold project to the government in exchange for achieving “political certainty,” and a stable tax regime.

Achieving "business certainty" in Kyrgyzstan will cost Cameco $120 million, and reduce the Saskatoon mega-uranium company's share ownership in Centerra Gold (YSX: CG) from 53% to 41%.
Cameco and Kyrgyzaltyn JSC, a joint stock company owned by the Kyrgyz government, are partners in Centerra. Under the terms of the agreements, the Kyrgyz government and Kyrgyzaltyn agreed to support Centerra's continuing long-term development of the Kumtor gold mine, the nation's largest gold producer.
In return, the Kyrgyz government will receive 32.3 million shares, increasing its Centerra holdings from 16% to 29%. Meanwhile, Centerra's existing mine concession will be expanded by 25,000 hectares to include all the territory covered by its exploration license.
Centerra's agreement also provides for replacement of the current tax regime with a new simplified tax rate applied to gross revenue from the Kumtor operation. The new tax rate will be 11% in 2008, 12% in 2009 and 13% in subsequent years.
The agreement comes in the wake of a bill submitted to the Kyrgyz Parliament earlier this year challenging the validity of the earlier Kumtor agreement, proposed additional taxes on current and past mining production, and called for the transfer of all gold deposits to a newly created state-controlled entity.
The Kyrgyz Republic Parliament will be asked to review the new agreement when that governing body resumes on September 3. Cameco predicted that the agreements will be finalized in two months, subject to the approvals by the Cameco and Centerra boards of directors and the Kyrgyz government.

Charttechnisch ist Cameco ein klarer Kauf. Der stärkste Kursrückgang seit Bestehen der Company. MACD und Slow Stochastic haben bei 37 CAD klare Einstiegssignale geliefert.
Fundamental: EPS 2008 3,41 CAD, EPS 2007 1,77. KGV 2008 damit 12 bei einem Gewinnwachstum von 50 %.
Was will man mehr?
Die schlechten Nachrichten sind alle eingepreist. Bei Cameco war die Nachrichtenlage bsonders schlecht und Rohstoffwerte wurden sowieso verprügelt.
Alles halb so wild.
