Der Stahl- und Röhrenhersteller Salzgitter kauft von dem Duisburger Maschinen- und Anlagenbauer WCM die Mehrheit der Industrieholding Klöckner-Werke. Obendrein hat Salzgitter noch Milliarden auf der hohen Kante und für 2006 ein neues Rekordergebnis vorgelegt. Derweil gibt es mit Blick auf KlöCo neue Spekulationen.

AN Australian mining engineer and a South African pilot are dead after their aircraft crashed in the southeast African country of Malawi.
The men were working for Paladin Resources, a mining company based in Perth, when their twin-engine Piper 34 crashed near a town called Dowa, about 40km north of the Malawi capital of Lilongwe.
The Australian was last night named as Garnet Halliday, about 50. He was the general manager for development of a uranium mine Paladin Resources' was planning to develop. It is understood the aircraft was travelling to a mine site in Karonga. The plane took off from the international airport in Lilongwe but crashed about 5km away.
Paladin chairman Rick Crabb told The Australian last night that Mr Halliday lived on a rural property in Victoria with his wife. He had worked previously for mineral sands miner Ticor and before that for gold producer Newcrest Mining.
Mr Halliday was employed by Paladin in 2004 to manage the development of its Langer Heinrich uranium mine in Namibia, which came into production late last year.
Initial reports of the crash said that eight Australians had been killed but Malawi's Deputy Director of Civil Aviation Operations, who was at the scene of the crash, said he could only confirm that one passenger and the pilot had been killed.
Alfred Grant Matiya said there were no survivors and the wreckage of the aircraft was strewn over the crash site.
"There was no communication, no radio contact," Mr Matiya said. "All those on board perished, one crew and one passenger. Parts are scattered all over."
Australia's ambassador to Zimbabwe Jon Sheppard, who is responsible for Malawi, said last night he had only just been informed of the crash and was trying to find out what happened.

Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 28.180.188 von dgni am 08.03.07 11:23:54das ist wirklich eine grosse tragoedie in die mich von persoenlichen erfahrungen her sehr gut hinein fuehlen kann, sieben jahre in indonesian, zwei in argentinien und zwoelf jahre in papua new guinea mit woechentlichen return flugzeug/helicopter fluegen zur arbeit auf die mine,abgesehen von zwei jahren in north queensland, ist schon arg hard.
