Shell will ja Cove übernehmen vorwiegend wegen deren Gasaktivitäten.

Dolmen Stockbrokers - Dolmen Daily 13th June

      Pancontinental - Spec Buy
      Target - AUD 0.30

Overnight, Pancontinental announced that it has started its 3D offshore seismic survey of Kifaru, in the L6 licence offshore Kenya. The company has a 40% interest in the licence, the remaining 60% being held by the current operator FAR. The data acquisition, which should be completed in early July 2012, will cover about 680 sq km and cost $13.67m (Pancontinental’s share is $5.5m). Licence area L6 off theKenyan coast lies in the Lamu Basin and within the Tana River delta, north of the recent natural gas discoveries off the coasts of Mozambique and Tanzania. Current interest in Pancontinental centres round its first offshore Kenya well on the Mbawa Prospect in Block L8, which is being drilled by Apache Corporation in Q312.

Pancontinental has a 15% stake in that prospect, in partnership with Apache (50%), Origin Energy (20%) and Tullow (15%). As such, today’s announcement is an incremental positive for the company, illustrating continued progress in a second target area, that is commencing slightly ahead of schedule (3D seismic had been pencilled in for Q312).

Kenya invites bids for coal exploration blocks
      Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:55am EDT

      * Seeks end to reliance on thermal and diesel-fired electricity

      * Coal will also go to cement and steel plants

NAIROBI, June 13 (Reuters) - Kenya has invited investors to bid for the exploration and development of two coal blocks in the country's eastern region, the energy ministry said on Wednesday, as it pushes to diversify energy sources to meet growing demand for power.

Potential bidders must be able to show the ability to raise in excess of $200 million for investment and a track record of establishing projects with an output of at least 3,000 tonnes per day. Bids must be submitted no later than July 16.

Some of the coal will go to the cement and steel industries, which import 3.6 billion shillings ($40 million) of coal a year. The rest will be used for electricity generation, reducing reliance on thermal and diesel-fired plants to fill deficits in supply.

The ministry awarded development rights for two blocks in the Mui basin, C and D, to China's Fenxi Mining Group in December last year. It said the new blocks it plans to lease out, A and B, lie in the same basin. Kenya estimates that block C contains a minimum of 400 million tonnes of coal.

Fenxi is expected to pay $3 million for block C and $500,000 for block D, in return for a renewable concession of 21 years, subject to approval by parliament.

Kenya has also received increased attention from oil and gas explorers after Britain's Tullow Oil found oil in Kenya, though the commercial viability of the find has yet to be determined.

On Wednesday, Australia's Pancontinental Oil and Gas and its partner FAR Ltd said they will start a seismic survey on their offshore Kenyan block, L6, on June 15. It aims to complete the survey by the end of the month at a cost of $13.67 million.

      Artikel über die PCL-Blocks L6, L8 und L10A&B:

      ---

FAR to kick off Kenya 3D seismic to gain better picture of petroleum prospects

Kenya focused FAR Limited (ASX: FAR) will start shooting its highly anticipated 3D seismic survey over 680 square kilometres of some of the world’s most sought after petroleum exploration acreage off Kenya.

The A$13.67 million survey is scheduled to start this Friday 15 June to better define the 7 prospects FAR had identified in the L6 permit, Lamu Basin.

The L6 permit is immediately north of recent, world scale, natural gas discoveries totalling around 100 trillion cubic feet off the coasts of Mozambique and Tanzania.

FAR said these success have been due to the use of modern 3D seismic.

The company holds a 60% operating stake in the L6 permit and plans to drill its first well in the middle of 2013.

      Offshore Kenya

Other companies are also sinking their drillbits offshore Kenya with Apache Corporation (NYSE: APA) due to drill the Mbawa prospect in L8 this August. Fellow Australian Pancontinental Oil & Gas (ASX: PCL) holds a 15% free carried interest in L8 as well as a 40% stake in L6.

Mbawa is estimated to have a maximum potential of 4.9 billion barrels of oil in place at the main Tertiary/Cretaceous level.

Meanwhile, Anadarko Petroleum (NYSE: APC) plans to drill the first of its wells before the end of this year while BG is also preparing to drill its first well in Blocks L10A and L10B at the end of 2012.
