Even with an existing purchase agreement with Lincoln Park Capital Fund, Galena will likely need plenty of cash raises between now and 2018, when its PRESENT trial will officially yield primary endpoint data.
Small-cap biotech stocks are also notorious for failing to succeed in late-stage cancer trials, or to get their products approved by the Food and Drug Administration.
Long story short, I'd continue to suggest remaining on the sidelines with Galena until we have the concrete data to support a long-term investment.

Auch die letzten Tage haben die Kurzen eher genutzt um Positionen glatt zu stellen.

Ja knapp 14% Plus sieht gut aus, aber wir sollten nicht vergessen das wir die Tage davor ziemlich baden gegangen sind. Ich vermute das gestern war nur eine Momentaufnahme und bis Freitag gehts noch mal 10% zurück. Nach den massiven Verlusten musste ja mal wieder ein Grüner Tage kommen

Zum 1.10 haben die shorties ihre positionen weiter ausgebaut.
Jetzt dürften es ca. 25 Millionen Aktien sein, die geschortet wurden.

1. ich bin selbst investiert, mit einem längeren anlagehorizont
2. d.h. ich glaube an die pipeline, insbesondere neuvax und somit den langfristigen erfolg des unternehmens
3. einstieg der ganzen diskussion meinerseits waren "blasen über mögliche tagesgewinne" ob der vermeldung von 2a ergebnissen, welche (wie der user selbst schrieb), im vorfeld bereits erwartet worden und im kurs entsprechend eingepreist waren - darauf gab es ein ironisches posting (70% tagesgewinn und mehr)
4. und wer in meinen beiden gestrigen postings (noch dazu an einen bestimmten user gerichtet und wir mögen uns schon länger) etwas von "besserwisserisch, hämisch & schadenfroh" hineininterpretiert bringt entweder viel phantasie mit oder vielleicht sind die nerven ob der unerwarteten kursentwicklung etwas angespannter als sonst - muss ich wohl mit leben
5. fakt ist, man hat sich in einem teil der anlegerschaft gestern (mal wieder) von einem event seitens gale mehr erwartet, als letztendlich kommuniziert wurde - ich finde das nicht weiter schlimm, der wert ist und bleibt wohl noch einige zeit "manipulierbar" ob des vertrauensverlustes welchen man in den letzten jahren angehäuft hat...und wenn dann der nbi korrigiert wie er es seit tagen tut kommt eben eines zum anderen und eine aktie wie gale eben besonders anfällig für starke kursschwankungen - insofern sehe ich es wie alfarr in seinem letzten posting, geduld und nerven bewahren und vielleicht ab und zu den gang, was kurserwartungen betrifft etwas zurückschalten

Galena Biopharma (NASDAQ: GALE) announced a collaboration with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to initiate a new, Phase 2 clinical trial with NeuVax (nelipepimut-S) in patients diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma in Situ (DCIS). The trial will be entitled, VADIS: Phase 2 trial of the Nelipepimut-S Peptide VAccine in Women with DCIS of the Breast. The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) Phase I and II Chemoprevention Consortium is the lead for this multi-center trial with Elizabeth Mittendorf, MD, PhD serving as the study Principal Investigator. The Consortium is funded through the Division of Cancer Prevention at NCI, which will provide financial and administrative support for the trial. Galena will provide NeuVax, as well as additional financial and administrative support. The trial is expected to initiate in the fourth quarter of 2015.
"We are pleased to have been chosen by the NCI and M.D. Anderson, two world-renowned institutions, on this groundbreaking study to potentially advance NeuVax earlier in the treatment cycle towards primary prevention of breast cancer," said Mark W. Schwartz, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer. "NeuVax generates a significant and potent HER2 directed T-cell response, and this Phase 2 clinical trial will evaluate the CD8+ T cell response generated by NeuVax and whether this induced activation of the immune system suppresses the growth of DCIS cells. The Phase 2 clinical trial will be a single-blind, double arm, randomized, controlled trial comparing NeuVax combined with the immunoadjuvant granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) versus GM-CSF alone. Adult women eligible for the trial will be pre- or post-menopausal with DCIS diagnosed via their core needle biopsy and will be positive for the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) allele A2, or HLA-A2 positive. The trial will enroll a total of 48 patients randomized in a 2:1 ratio, 32 in the active arm and 16 in the control arm. After completion of local therapy to include surgery and when indicated, radiation, the treatment regimen will consist of three doses prior to, and three doses after surgery, for a total of six injections of either vaccine or control, depending on the arm in which the patients are randomized. The primary endpoint for the trial is immunological, evaluating NeuVax peptide-specific cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL; CD8+ T cell) response in vaccinated patients compared to patients receiving GM-CSF alone. Secondary endpoints include safety, immune response via epitope spreading, presence of DCIS at resection, and difference in HER2 expression.
