Qatar signs 27-year gas supply deal with Italy's Eni
DUBAI, Oct 23 (Reuters) - State-owned QatarEnergy said on Monday it would supply Italy's Eni with gas for 27 years, following similar deals this month to supply the Netherlands via Shell and France through TotalEnergies.

Affiliates of QatarEnergy and Eni signed a long-term sale and purchase agreement for up to 1 million tons per year (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar's North Field expansion project.

LNG will be delivered to the FSRU Italia, a floating storage and regasification unit in Tuscany's port of Piombino from 2026.

Eni has a 3.125% stake in the North Field East expansion that, together with the North Field South expansion, will lift Qatar's liquefaction capacity to 126 mtpa by 2027 from 77 mtpa.

Qatar, already the world's top LNG exporter, in the last two weeks signed 27-year deals to supply 3.5 mtpa from 2026 to Shell and TotalEnergies, its largest and longest European gas supply deals.

Italy's Eni makes big gas discovery in Indonesia's Kutei Basin
San Donato Milanese (Milan), 2 October 2023 – Eni announces a significant gas discovery from the Geng North-1 exploration well drilled in North Ganal PSC, about 85 km off the cost of East Kalimantan in Indonesia. Preliminary estimates indicate a total structure discovered volume of 5 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas in place with a content of condensate estimated up to 400 Mbbls; the acquired data will allow to study the options for a fast-track development.

Geng North-1 was drilled to a depth of 5,025 meters in 1,947 meters water depth, encountered a gas column about 50m thick in a Miocene sandstone reservoir with excellent petrophysical properties that has been subject of an extensive data acquisition campaign. A well production test (DST) has been successfully performed for a full assessment of the gas discovery and although limited by the test facilities, it has allowed to estimate a well capacity of up to 80-100 mmscfd and about 5-6 kbbld of condensate.

The discovery confirms the effectiveness of Eni’s strategy aimed at creating value through its deep knowledge of geological plays and the application of advanced geophysical technologies. The ongoing exploration campaign, along with the recent acquisitions, is in line with Eni’s energy transition strategy to progressively shift its portfolio mix towards gas and LNG, targeting 60% in 2030, and to increase its LNG equity portfolio. Indonesia, and South-East Asia in general, play a relevant role in this strategy.

Raffinerie Schwedt bleibt in Treuhandverwaltung - Käufersuche dauert

Nigeria's NNPC says Eni unit did not obtain its consent in Oando sale - letter
LONDON, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Nigerian state oil firm NNPC Ltd says a subsidiary of Italy's Eni did not obtain its consent prior to announcing a deal to sell onshore oil assets to local firm Oando PLC, a failure that could have breached terms of a joint operating agreement, according to a letter seen by Reuters.

The letter casts doubt on the speed of the transaction, announced on Monday, and underscores the difficulty international oil majors have faced in their years-long efforts to sell onshore oil and gas assets in Nigeria.

In the letter, dated Sept. 4, NNPC said that Eni subsidiary Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd (NAOC) did not seek its consent before it announced the deal, and that its consent was mandatory before transferring participating interest in a joint venture.

NNPC called failure to obtain prior written consent "a grave breach" of the joint operating agreement (JOA).
      ...

Eni, which makes all comment on issues related to its NAOC Ltd subsidiary, said there had been no breach of the joint venture contract.

"NNPC has a pre-emption right on the JV shares, but Eni doesn't have any contractual obligation to inform beforehand NNPC about the deal, also because the information was price sensitive for the potential buyer," it said.

It said that pre-emption procedures and other consents will be "duly and carefully followed" at the applicable time.

NNPC spokesperson Garba Deen Muhammad confirmed that NEPL sent the letter to NAOC, but said the letter did not indicate an objection to the transaction.

"NEPL is only drawing attention to certain important clauses in the JOA, which might have been overlooked in error. Adherence to those clauses will protect the transaction now and in the future," he said.

Oando declined to comment on the letter, but said "we trust that, as requested by NEPL, NAOC will engage accordingly to ensure that their concerns are addressed".

Eni to become latest oil giant to sell onshore Nigerian assets
GDANSK, LONDON, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Italy's Eni (ENI.MI) has agreed to sell its Nigerian onshore oil and gas subsidiary to local oil company Oando (OANDO.LG), the two companies said on Monday, in the latest move by an international energy giant to divest onshore assets.

The sale of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company Ltd (NAOC), which is subject to regulatory approval, will nearly double Oando's reserves to 996 million barrels of oil equivalent, the Nigerian company said.

Oando added that the purchase would enable it to "significantly increase production" and "brings to bear the important role indigenous actors will play in the future of the Nigerian upstream sector."

It is also another step out of Nigeria's onshore sector for international oil majors, nearly all of whom, notably Shell (SHEL.L) and Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N), have sales underway amid rampant oil theft and spills, perpetual clashes with communities and more focused exploration budgets.
