      HORRIBLE MANGEMENT on Adult Sites
Because of their quest to get "The Perfect Price" for this albatross, they have been held on to for months longer than they should have. Now, they are "accepting offers". The Offers will be for $.10 on the dolllar compared to what they would have received months ago. Bad, bad, mismanagement by SNMM!!

Könnte wie Schadensbegrenzung aussehen. Oder wie ein verstecktes Schuldeingeständnis.

The "raid" had nothing to do with porno sites. No amount of wishing can have them sold 2 months ago. Leave history to the scribes and look forward.

Das ist auch das einzig richtige. Wie lange wurde dieser Punkt schon auf RB eingefordert.

Damage control or not it is smart to sell the adult sites now even if at a discount. Lets face it folks, they just went through three days of pornography headlines, not to mention the bashers here screaming kiddie porn. They should have sold them months ago, yes, but life is always perfect in retrospect. Selling now is smart. The sooner the better. This company started out as an internet porn company, thats how Vancouver knows them, thats what authorities think of them. Perception always lags reality. They need to rid themselves of the image. There are enough questionable people/companies in the gambling business.

      Friday Aug 20 1999
      by Brent Mudry
It was an exciting day for followers of Star-Net Communications International
Inc., with a pre-dawn raid of the company`s operational headquarters by 100
police officers capping an 18-month Internet gambling and pornography probe,
the late-morning release of British Columbia Premier Glen Clark`s long-awaited
search warrant, the late-afternoon release of the Starnet search warrant and the
expected imminent resignation of Mr. Clark in a high-profile gambling scandal.
While Friday the 13th is superstitious for many, the Vancouver action unfolded a
week later, on Friday the 20th. The day kicked off at 5:30 a.m., when 100
uniformed and plainsclothes officers raided Starnet`s premises. Six hours later, at
11:30 a.m., the search warrant of the March 2 searches of the homes, offices and
vehicles of Mr. Clark, neighbour Dimitrios Pilarinos, his casino partner Steve Ng,
an early Starnet shareholder, and a number of other associates, was finally
released in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, after a protracted legal battle
by Mr. Clark and the targets. Minutes before the 4 p.m. closing of the B.C.
Provincial Court Vancouver registry, the Starnet search warrant was released.
POLICE CAMP OUT IN STARNET`S OFFICES
It will be a busy weekend for the police and Starnet`s officials and lawyers.
"Throughout the weekend, there will be several dozen officers on site from the
RCMP and VPD. . . handling massive quantities of information," says VPD
      spokeswoman Ann Drennan.
Court documents reveal the Starnet interest extends far beyond Vancouver.
Officers, officials and accountants from various law enforcement organizations are
involved in the probe. The United States Internal Revenue`s Criminal Investigation
Division, the U.S. Customs Service and the Ontario Provincial Police are assisting
and observing in the investigation. The RCMP notes that due to the complex
nature of computer networks and the Internet, several briefings and planning
sessions with technical personnel of these U.S. and Canadian agencies were
required, with equipment needs to be tested. "To accomodate these requirements
and to meet various travel itineraries of the Vancouver arrival of the assisting
investigators, it is requested that the execution date of this warrant to search be
delayed until the 20th of August," stated Officer Ryan on Aug. 19.
The RCMP also notes that personnel from the IRS and the U.S. Customs Service
are required to assist, as a result of their experience with international monetary
payments and transfer systems and expertise in conducting high-tech computer
network investigations. In addition, accountants from the RCMP Integrated
Proceeds of Crime Section are required, to quickly identify monetary transfers,
accounts and assets which may have been derived from the proceeds of crime.
The early-morning timing of the raid was prompted by police concerns of security
and preservation of evidence. Officer Ryan suggested there may be physical and
computerized security systems in place at Starnet`s Vancouver offices or its
associated offices in Antigua, which could be engaged to impede police entry.
Besides dealing with Starnet`s physical security of heavy steel doors and
surveillance, police were concerned about remote access to the system. In a July
27 interview, an Internet technology consultant with some knowledge of Starnet`s
operation provided potentially-key details to police. The source told police that in
late 1996, he observed an odd box in Starnet`s premises, connected to its
computer networks. A Starnet employee, Jason Bolduc, allegedly told him it was
a cellular control system which permitted Starnet staff to phone a number and
enter a code which would allow certain instructions to be given to the network,
including shutting the system down or turning it on.
Besides pulling in search and seizure personnel from across North America, the
police appear to have been well-prepared for the logistics of the raid. On April
27, the RCMP executed a search warrant on the offices of Sprint Canada in
Richmond, to determine the type of telecommunications services provided to
Starnet. The police were given Starnet`s billing records for all outgoing long
distance calls and all incoming toll-free calls from February to mid-April.
A well-timed international Gaming Summit and Expo, held at Vancouver`s Hyatt
Regency hotel, from June 23 to 25, was also quite fruitful. A special constable
attended an open house for conference delegates at Starnet`s offices and was
given a detailed tour of the premises, mentally mapping the layout of the assorted
offices, including a lottery ticket on-line distribution operation. Two weeks after
the hosted tour, the RCMP obtained a general warrant on July 9 to use computer
network utility tools to trace the route that Starnet-related data packets took
through the Internet, as they were transferred between police computers and
Internet gambling Web sites. Finally, on July 23, the police obtained a warrant to
create operating keys for doors in and around Starnet`s Vancouver offices, to
facilitate the execution of a search warrant without loss of evidence.
      THE STARNET SEARCH WARRANT
The 61-page Starnet "Information to Obtain a Search Warrant" details the
18-month probe by the Co-ordinated Law Enforcement Unit, a B.C. Attorney
General agency, led by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police commercial crime
and proceeds-of-crime sections and the Vancouver Police Department. While no
charges have yet been laid, court documents reveal eight proposed counts related
to illegal bookmaking, betting and gambling, and the distribution of adult
pornography and kiddie porn. Although the proposed charges may later be
modified, dropped or expanded, the list of named parties is extensive. It should be
clearly noted that no parties have yet been charged, and all parties are presumed
innocent after any charges are laid.
The 15 individual parties named, all uncharged and presumed innocent at present,
include Starnet chief executive Mark Dohlen, president Paul Giles, chairman and
chief financial officer John Carley, secretary-treasurer Chris Zacharias, chief
operations officer Jason King, finance vice-president Benjamin Wong, corporate
development vice-president Grant Johnson, offshore operations vice-president
Terrence Bowering and senior software engineer Michael Hiebert. Other named
Starnet employees and associates include Ken Lelek, Bret Conkin, Wolf Bergelt,
Richard Thiessen, Mitchell White, Jason Bolduc. The 11 named companies
include Starnet Communications International, Starnet Communications Canada,
World Gaming Service, EFS Caribbean, EFS St. Kitts, Softec Systems
Caribbean, Starnet USA, EFS Australia, Canadian Global Interactive, Global
      Interactive and Absolute Technologies.
In Count 1, RCMP officer Michael Ryan, who swore the search warrant
application on Thursday, claims that targeted parties possessed proceeds of crime
related to illegal gambling operations between May 19, 1995, and Aug. 18, 1999,
contrary to Section 354(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. The
as-yet-uncharged defendants allegedly possessed money knowingly derived
directly or indirectly from the commission of indictable offences, including
book-making, betting, making agreements for the purchase or sale of betting or
gaming privileges, providing information intended for use in connection with betting
on games or sports, and sending, transmitting, delivering or receiving messages by
telephone or mail that conveyed information relating to this book-making, betting
      or wagering.
All counts cover the same stated date range. In Count 2, the RCMP allege the
as-yet-uncharged potential defendants unlawfully conspired together, and with
diverse persons unknown, to commit the indictable offence of having possession
of proceeds of crime. This proceeds conspiracy charge cites Section 354(1) and
Section 465(1)(c) of the Code. Count 3 is another proceeds conspiracy charge,
covering money or other property relating to an offence under Section 202 of the
Code and contrary to Section 202(1)(c) of the Code, resulting in an offence
contrary to Section 465(1)(c) of the Code.
Count 4 relates to the gambling operation itself, claiming unlawful conspiracy to
commit the indictable offence of engaging in the business of betting and making
arrangements for the purchase or sale of betting or gaming privileges, contrary to
Section 202(1)(e) of the Code, resulting in an offence contary to Section
465(1)(c). Count 5 relates to the dissemination of gambling information, claiming
conpiracy to commit the indictable offence of providing information intended for
use in connection with betting on games or sports, contrary to Section 202(1)(f) of
the Code, resulting in an offence contrary to Section 465(1)(c).
The sixth and final gambling-related count relates to conspiracy to commit the
indictable offence of willfully and knowingly sending, transmitting, delivering or
receiving any messages by telephone or mail, which conveyed information relating
to book-making, betting or wagering, or was intended to do the same, contary to
Section 202(1)(i) of the Code, resulting in an offence contrary to Section
      465(1)(c).
The final two counts relate to Starnet`s Internet pornography operations. In Count
7, the RCMP claims the uncharged potential defendants had possession, for the
purpose of publication, distribution or circulation, obscene pictures, mainly
computerized images depicting obscene acts, contrary to Section 163(1)(a) of the
Code. The final potential charge, Count 8, relates to the printing, publishing or
possession, for the purpose of publication, child pornography, contrary to Section
      163.1 of the Code.
Officer Ryan notes the police Starnet operation, code-named "Project Enigma,"
an investigation into illegal gambling, distribution of pornography and money
laundering, all using the Internet, was started in December of 1997. The initial
investigation was referred to the CLEU Proceeds of Crime section for assessment
in June of 1998 and the investigation was approved by CLEU management for
project status in September of 1998.
The background probe includes That`s Entertainment, registered in July of 1992, a
Howe Street-based Internet Web site in the business of booking strippers for
performances in Japan, Macau, Greece, England, Iceland, Austria, Switzerland,
Germany, Mexico, Venezuela, the United States and Canada. Another company,
399413 Alberta, was registered in December of 1992, to book strippers for
clubs. The only directors identified in the annual reports for 1993 and 1994 were
Mr. Lelek and Lloyd Robinson. In 1995, Mr. Robinson stepped down and Mr.
Lelek continued as the sole director.
Continuing the corporate chronology, Starnet Computer Communications was
incorporated in May of 1994, with Mr. Giles, Mr Lelek, Mr. Thiessen and Mr.
White as founding directors. In November of that year, Mr. Giles, Mr. Lelek and
Mr. Thiessen stepped down, replaced by new directors Mr. Dohlen and Mr.
Bolduc. The company changed its name to Sizzle Entertainment Group in August
of 1996. The RCMP notes that in May of 1995, 496926 BC was incorporated,
with Mr. White and Mr. McPhee as founding directors. That November, Mr.
McPhee was replaced by new directors Mr. Dohlen and Mr. Bolduc. In August
of 1996, the company changed its name to Starnet Communications Canada, with
1996 and 1997 directors including Messrs. Bolduc, Dohlen, White, Zacharias and
      Carley.
Court documents note three other companies of chronology. In June of 1995,
That`s Acting was incorporated, with Mr. Lelek, of 1712 Queens Ave. in West
Vancouver, as sole director since then. In August of 1998, two numbered
companies were incorporated: 544062 BC, with Mr. Giles as sole director, and
544063 BC, with Mr. Thiessen as sole director.
The RCMP also confirms that a search of Barbados corporate records shows that
Starnet Communications International was incorporated in Barbados on Nov. 21,
1996, by local attorney Trevor Carmichael, with Messrs. Dohlen, Carley, Bolduc,
Armstrong, Giles and Roy Gould as directors. Citing United States Securities and
Exchange Commission reports, the police note that in January of 1997, Starnet
received loans of $208,000 from Celestine Fund Management, secured by all of
Starnet`s assets. Celestine was a privately-held investment fund with principal
offices in the British Virgin Islands, in the business of providing short-term
financing. On June 10, 1997, Celestine sold the note to DGD Wealth
Management, a Richmond-based holding company of which Mr. Gould is
director, Larissa Grierson is secretary and Renwick Day is a director.
Court documents note that RCMP officers, under cover of Project Enigma, were
busy Internet gamblers on numerous Starnet-related sites, betting on numerous
NHL, NFL and NBA games and English soccer matches. The operatives also
became immersed in Starnet`s other Internet gambling opportunities.
A Nov. 16, 1998, Starnet complaint of attempted credit card fraud by a customer
was particularly helpful. A VPD credit card fraud detective accepted the invitation
and was ushered into Starnet`s heavily-secured Carrall Street headquarters in
Gastown. After passing through a solid steel door, with Starnet surveillance
equipment on both sides, the officer was asked to leave his police badge at the
reception, which he declined. He noticed two more solid steel doors into other
interior office areas and a uniformed security guard. The curious officer was told
that Starnet`s Internet servers were in the building. The Starnet employee hesitated
and then claimed "actually the backup servers are here, the real ones are in
      Antigua."
Another goldmine was the curbside garbage outside the home of Mr. Giles. On
Feb. 26, several officers poked through the garbage and found various corporate
documents. Especially interesting is a Jan. 28 Starnet letter addressed to the
Honourable Lester Bird, Prime Minister`s Office, Antigua, stating that the matter
of licensing had become critical to the immediate future of Starnet and its licensees
in Antigua and Barbuda, and unless their proposal was accepted, Starnet would
be forced to relocate to St. Kitts.
A curbside garbage search two weeks earlier, outside Mr. Giles` home, yielded a
handwritten "will and testiment (sic)" dated Jan. 5, signed by Mr. Giles and
witnessed by Emmi Visser and an unknown person. The RCMP notes this
document states that "Starnet owes me US 50,000, Roy has 130,000 US or
more," that "options exercised by Roy should be an additional 60,000 US or
more" and an indication that 500,000 to 550,000 free-trading bearer certificates
are held by "Roy Gould @ United Capital in West Van." Court documents note
that other records found in the garbage bag indicated that Mr. Giles has an
account with United Capital, also identified as UCC United Capital Corp.

Has anyone here ever taken the time to actually THINK about possible REASONABLE explanations for todays porn announce?

      Try this scenario:
SNMM tries to find a GOOD buyer of porn sites. Perhaps they had a real good fish on the line - nice price, good terms, etc. They would not have wanted to close the deal before end of last quarter; THEY knew they had extra expenses, which wold hurt the earnings report. What would our EPS have been without income from porn?

Could very well be that an already-set deal fell thru as fall-out from Friday`s mess. Therefore, put `em up for auction TODAY, get it over with.

Yes, I am speculating here. I have no evidence for this scenario. But it does fit in with all the facts as I have heard them. We have all been saying what solid, reliable management this company has - why should we change that opinion now?

Remember, we have VERY little idea of what has truly been going on behind the scenes.

      Just spoke with Carey Nelson:

      1. This PR ab. sale of adult sites was planned prior to the raid and is not a knee-jerk reaction. Said it was set to be released a week ago. He also stated unequivocally "no kiddy porn" and that all models used on their site sign statements concerning their age.

      2. M&A West had a contract that ran Aug to Aug. It has not been renewed yet but Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has been retained. I have spoken with them and they currently represent Starnet. They are a major firm out of New York City. See the last two PRs and call them. Peter Maneri is traveling for the week but Brad Miller is available at 212-880-5345. Ogilvy is a first class Madison Avenue advertising and PR firm. I am impressed that Starnet hired them.

      3. There was a company-wide meeting led by management on Saturday to discuss the situation.

      4. Carey stressed that they cooperated with the authorities in their search and provided all requested materials.

It remains a very volatile situation but Starnet is in business today and is moving forward with their b-plan. If they succed remains to be seen.

Vancouver, BC, August 20 /SHfn/ -- A surprising and disturbing development has just erupted in the continuing saga of Starnet Communications [SNMM].

Starnet`s Vancouver headquarters and the homes of six of its executives were raided early this morning by police. The company is being investigated for alleged offences including illegal gambling, pornography distribution and racketeering. Police have been investigating the company for 18 months in connection with alleged illegal gaming and Internet pornography, and allegations that its gaming system funnels millions of dollars through Starnet each month.

In early afternoon trading, the stock dropped as much as 70% as panicked investors started selling on the sordid news.

In the early morning raid at their downtown lower east side offices, 40 fully armed SWAT team members used battering rams to break open the doors of the executive suite.

Starnet CEO Mark Dohlen arrived at the office at 6 a.m., a half hour after the raid began, just as the police were carting out computers and boxes full of records.

A source closely related to Starnet, who wishes to remain anonymous, suggested that the charges were unfounded, and that they may have arisen as a result of a business vendetta held by either a current or former client.

The ongoing investigation by both Vancouver police and the RCMP primarily targeted several banks of computers where records of all gambling transactions are stored. According to one source, various computer files clearly displayed gambling transactions that were not conducted offshore - an indication that Starnet has contravened their supposed standard business practice. Investigators have alleged that millions of dollars flowed through Starnet each month from its Internet-based gaming system.

In a twist that does not bode well for BC`s Premier Glen Clark, Steve Ng is a shareholder in Starnet. This local businessman, a part owner of the North Burnaby Inn, has been tied by some reports to an investigation in Clark`s involvement in granting casino licenses. The homes of both men were raided by police back on March 2nd.

"We did hear from the attorney for the company. The stories are true," one of the sources explained. "The police were raiding to collect files for illegal bookmaking."

The source claims he has not yet heard an official statement from the company`s executives, and he is not sure whether the company is confirming or denying the allegations. At this point, though, a lot of damage has already been done.

"I feel that the stock should be halted immediately," the source says. "I think that`s only fair."

Starnet is a developer and provider of Internet technologies for gaming applications. Starnet`s income comes from licensing its technology through subsidiaries. A portion of its revenues still come from Internet pornography, its original business model, but the company claimed to be phasing itself out of the industry.

The company has been no stranger to controversy lately. Late last month, one of Starnet`s licensees, Las Vegas Casino claimed it had filed a suit against the company for $1 billion. Later, the press release was retracted by newswires, and Starnet issued a statement saying it had ended its business relationship with Las Vegas Casino due to overdue payments. Starnet has launched a counter-suit against Las Vegas Casino charging damages for false and malicious statements made on the Internet.

Starnet emerged from that fray relatively unscathed, and it was back to business as usual - until today`s news broke. Whether the allegations prove true or false, there is no doubt that investors` confidence has been dealt another heavy blow.

Die Bullen waren schon lange hinter Starnet her:
Sagt euch das was?

      http://babylon.contrib.com/ger

      kostenlos zu erhalten.

Damit dürfte es sehr viel einfacher sein die RB Postings zu lesen. Es gibt kaum einen Begriff den Babylon nicht kennt.

Starnet Communications International Inc. is back in control of its Vancouver headquarters, following a dramatic upheaval that began with police raids early Friday morning. At 7 a.m. local time Monday, the office phone was anwered by a cheery young woman, and management and staff were already on the job. In a prepared statement early Monday, chief executive Mark Dohlen said, "We are pleased to announce that our company will continue its operations and proceed with its strategic plans following minor interruptions to service over the past weekend.``

The company`s stock (OTC BB: SNMM) was up to nearly $7 a share in early Monday trading. It had tanked Friday as news of the police action spread, losing 69 percent of its value to close at $4.06. More than 10.5 million shares traded Friday, more than 18 times the recent average volume.

Starnet is one of the largest providers of gaming software and e-cash financial services for online casinos. It also operates Internet pornography sites. Both lines of business are targets of a long-running police investigation that climaxed in Friday`s raids on Starnet`s headquarters and at the homes of six of its top executives.

The company`s 170 Vancouver employees were not allowed into their offices Friday, as investigators for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and local police agencies combed the building. Jason King, Starnet`s chief operating officer and one of the executives whose homes was raided, told RGTOnLine early Monday that the company had regained access to three of its four floors on Saturday afternoon. The last police officers left the remaining floor early Sunday evening. A spokesman for the RCMP confirmed Monday that "the search of the premises was completed at 8 p.m. last night.`` He said no other information was available in the continuing investigation. "They went through everything,`` King said. "They said they wanted as little disruption as possible, but they couldn`t do everything they needed to in the time span, so they had to take some things. "We said we`d cooperate fully, and we did. We provided system administrators and developers to help expedite the investigators` work. We went well beyond the search warrant, to show them what we believe is true, and to expedite the process.

"They were pretty specific in their requests. They knew what they were looking for.`` King said the headquarters has about 200 work stations and 150 servers. The police carried out about 10 total systems, he estimated. Disruptions for Starnet`s licensed casinos and their bettors appears to have been minimal. "Our sites have been up and down over the weekend,`` said the manager of one online casino Sunday night. "We can`t get the stats; the `admin` is not available. But people seem to be able to place their wagers." A manager of another casino, Superbet.com, said late Sunday, "We are experiencing no problems from the Starnet situation. Our system is up and working fine. Our servers did go down over the weekend for some maintenance, but this was not related to the Starnet situation.``

King said there were intermittent disruptions in service over the weekend, but that casinos were able to take bets most of the time. Even over the weekend, he said, credit card transactions were processed. That means that bettors were able to receive credits posted to their credit card accounts. Winnings that are larger than what is originally deposited by credit card cannot be paid by credit card. They have to paid by check or wire transfer. Such checks or wire transfers will go out today, King said Monday. King said the investigators were amazed at the array of equipment at Starnet`s headquarters, which is in a rundown section of Vancouver. "The tech team was drooling at our tech capacity here,`` King said. "Some even joked about coming to work for us."

Although authorities said they have been investigating Starnet for 18 months, they didn`t realize the complexity of Starnet`s business, King said. "It took us four years to build this operation, so you can`t expect people to understand it in two hours," he said. That`s why, he said, they provided the police with access to some of Starnet`s servers in Antigua. Canadian authorities have no right to physically inspect the operations that are in Antigua. King said they didn`t give police access to the data bases in Antigua, but did let them look at the architecture of the computer systems there. "They came in, I`m sure, thinking that everything was run out of Vancouver," King said, "not realizing how extensive the operation is in Antigua." He said about 30 employees are based on the island.

No one has been charged or arrested in the investigation. CLEU, the Coordinated Law Enforcement Unit of British Columbia, said Friday that "the offences being investigated include illegal betting and bookmaking, making agreements for the purchase or sale of betting or gaming privileges, providing information intended for use in connection with bookmaking, possession and distribution of pornographic material, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

"Starnet Communications and its subsidiaries have been under investigation by CLEU investigators for over eighteen months in regard to illegal gaming and the distribution of prohibited pornographic materials over the Internet. Investigators have determined that millions of dollars flowed through Starnet controlled bank accounts each month as the result of its Internet based gaming system.``

Starnet`s original business was the operation of pornographic Internet sites. It still has that business, which its executives have said they will sell in order to concentrate on online gaming.

Friday`s raids resulted in major stories in the Canadian media. And investors were distraught over the drastic drop in price of what had been one of the year`s hottest stocks.

Internet chat rooms were full of talk about Starnet. The bulletin board of www.ragingbull.com, for example, had hundreds of postings about the company.

One subject of intense speculation was whether the Federal Bureau of Investigation was involved in the raids, given the hostility of many U.S. officials to Internet gaming.

Published reports based on police documents give no indication that the FBI was involved. But two U.S. agencies apparently were: the Internal Revenue Service`s Criminal Investigation Division and the U.S. Customs Service.

King said no investigator identified himself or herself as an American agent, and Starnet had no obvious indication that Americans were involved.

      Here`s this week`s killer!

SHAME ON YOU PRO FOOTBALL WEEKLY (August 25, 1999)

Well, here it is that time again when Pro Football Weekly comes out with their big football preview issue. Because it`s one of their most read, advertisers pay big bucks to be a part of the it. And just who are the advertisers? Most are offshore sportsbooks and handicappers who charge big bucks for their picks. And SOME, well, to put it mildly are CROOKS. Pro Football Weekly OWES it to their readers to review backgrounds of their advertisers. After all, WE pay their bills, NOT the advertisers and how many people out there are going to be left stranded sending deposits to books that in many cases do not even exist?

First on the list is a full-page color ad for an outfit called Prime Time Sports. Now normally you can tell a shaky company by its black and white full page ads or color half page ads (i.e. last year`s ad for Caribbean Sports, which only pays some of its clients some of the time). Well, here we have a sportsbook offering the biggest bonus in the industry and YES there will be those who will not hesitate to FED EX their funds to this establishment.

Who runs Prime time Sports you might ask? According to Covers.com, it`s none other than Gary Newman; the same Gary Newman who ran off with Sports International computers (not the one who sang the early 80`s song "Cars";). The same Gary Newman who Sports International claims is liable for the monies owed to their clients. The fact that Newman is even connected to SI is sickening in and of itself. For some time, former clients of the book were given the number in which to call Mr. Newman and when they did so, it was HE who answered the phone (not a secretary). From there he would begin to give the "run-around".

Not surprising the advertisement proclaims "The Largest Bonus in the Industry!" A 20% bonus for every $2000 or more deposit plus a 10% referral bonus. They claim to be fully licensed, legal and audited but BY WHOM? If they were audited certainly they would want to post the firm that conducted such an audit. They also offer a Visa debit card.

Here is some background history on Sports International and Newman care of RGTonline:

      >The victims of the Sports International/Global Sports/Empire online sportsbook rip-offs are tired of waiting for their money and ready to take action. Still, the company responsible for paying the debts, International Gaming Corporation (IGC), doesn`t seem to be in much of a hurry to resolve the situation.

IGC, a Canadian company, inherited the debts on March 18 when it purchased Sports International, Ltd. and Global Casinos, Ltd. from Interactive Gaming & Communications Corp., the company that started the mess. Meanwhile, dozens of angry sports bettors are foaming at the mouths as they wait for their betting accounts, which remain in limbo, to be credited.

Bettors` calls and emails to IGC have rarely been answered, and when they are, it’s always the same message: “You’ll get your money soon.” It`s painfully obvious to everyone involved, however, that “soon” has long since come and gone.

Spokespersons from IGC have told Rolling Good Times every other week that the money will start flowing within the next few days. Their latest statement was a promise that payments would be issued early in the week of April 21. But guess what...

And since the coming and going of the latest payday, IGC has again cut off communications. I`ve previously asked people not to call and to let us relay the information to them, but it might be time open the flood gates. The phone number is 604-937-7777 and the man to speak to is Gary Newman. You can also call Jeffrey Erb of Intersphere, the software provider, at 215-540-8175 or 610-941-0305. I recommend you call and call often. If the phones don’t stop ringing, perhaps one of them will be inclined to answer.

The waiting period is over and those involved are wanting to know what can be done legally to either get their money back and/or see to it that the assailants are brought to justice. Jerome Ruffin, one of many waiting to be paid, is willing to head the effort. Ruffin is interested in pursuing whatever legal action can be taken and invites others to join him in the fight. He’s already been in contact with several other of the wronged customers and looks forward to hearing from more. He can be reached at JRMoneyz@aol.com.

Newman maintains that IGC is a legitimate operation and that everyone will get their money. I don`t dispute that (although I easily could), but I’m adamantly against the way things have been handled. The ordeal has lingered for months (one customer is believed to have been waiting for almost a year) and there have been virtually no attempts from IGC at salvaging the mess with the simple task of public relations.

So the game plan for now is to wait. And when you`re done waiting, wait a little longer. At least, that`s what IGC would like you to do.

If you`re on the taking end, do yourself a favor and get in touch with Jerome Ruffin. It`s time to fight.<

Prime Time Sports is not the only questionable book with advertising space in Pro Football Weekly. Guess who else is back in town? Paramount Sports! And this shop has not taken a break to stop ripping people off. As Tom Somach from the Las Vegas Sporting News pointed out a few months back, Paramount is being operated out of Allentown, PA (not far from 21st Century Sportsbook). As NOT reported by Tom Somach, the individual he claimed was running the show actually WORKED for the Las Vegas Sporting News while Paramount was in the midst of taking wagers. When a sportsbook lists their 1-800 number as the Marketing Office, you know your in trouble. They claim to be licensed in Trinidad, an island nation that deplores gambling! Open an account and you receive a 20% bonus! Why not just open the window of your 40th floor New York sky rise office building and throw out $2000, then run down the stairs and see how much of that $2000 is waiting for you by the time you get down there. Good luck! Refer a friend and YOU get 15% of their opening balance as well. That`s an awful lot of bonus money for an operation that has not even paid current clients their due winnings as of yet. They advertise "most advantageous lines anywhere!", and open all "waking" hours from the East to the West coast. Well, Paramount, there are still plenty of clients who have not gotten much sleep while they wait for payouts from your "establishment". I don`t quite know what your definition is of "Waking Hours". Meanwhile, "Immediate cash or check payouts!" is listed as number seven on your top 10 reasons for choosing Paramount whereas "Free Schedules and Wagering Guides" is listed as the number two reason. Number One is "Truly the Only Place to Play!". Well, I got news for you, there are many other more reputable places to play than Paramount Sports. Unfortunately thanks to Pro Football Weekly, enough gullible souls out there will want to sink their teeth into these outrageous bonuses. Avoid this outfit like the plague.

Advertising English Sports Betting in your publication may not be one of the worst evils in the world, but who in their right mind wants to read an advertisement where Jim McMahon is proclaiming "I`ve won a lot of championships!" Are we supposed to be impressed? And as if one advertisement were not enough, a second ad has McMahon proclaiming: "From one winner to another....ESB is your BEST BET this season!" Thank you for thinking so highly of yourself, Mr. McMahon. Let your legions of fans decide how great you were.

English Sports Betting also has a close relationship with the Las Vegas Sporting News out of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, and if their "watchdog" sportsbook writer is correct, the Las Vegas Sporting News also seems to have a close relationship with another sportsbook mentioned above, Paramount. Con artists 21st Century Sportsbook and a now defunct Action Sports (not to be confused with Action Sports out of St. Marteen) also share the same zip code as the Las Vegas News and Paramount.

The Las Vegas Sporting News staff also appears on a weekly television show airing on obscure cable stations nationwide. Each of the participants look stiff as a board and WITH GOOD REASON I might add. A number of LVSN employees can`t stand one another, including Tom Somach, who from what we`ve been told, cannot stand his boss, Vince "the Editor" Reno (no relation to Janet Reno, at least we hope). Maybe Mr. Reno has taken a lot of the flack for some of what Somach has written in his scathing articles about "cream of the crop" sportsbook World Sports Exchange, not to mention his apparent hatred towards females (ie. Wanda "The Witch" Jones of Post Time Sports). While this may appear like an innocent little stab at someone who is anything BUT a "witch," closer observation suggests otherwise. The Las Vegas Sporting News has on their payroll an individual who on January 12, 1996, was charged with domestic violence. Additional charges filed against certain LVSN employees include among other things: Harassment by communication, disorderly conduct; defiant trespassing; resisting arrest; criminal mischief; and an occasional assault of a police officer. And this is just the Walt Disney version of what actually took place!

I can tell you one person who won`t be sharing a jail cell with Bubba anytime soon is Mark Dohlen, head of Starnet Communications in Vancouver. After his high-profile gaming company was raided this past Friday, there were many investors and gamblers already prepared to burn him at the stake before realizing the tangled political web this company had gotten itself into. By Saturday, the whole scenario played out like a "Who`s Who of the Seedy Underworld?" and by Sunday, Mark Dohlen and the rest of the Starnet gang were all looking like saints compared to some of these other characters involved.

Starnet Communications, the leading publicly traded on-line gaming company, licenses several dozen casinos and sportsbooks to use their software while getting an upfront fee and a percentage of revenue from each casino. Starnet also offers it`s own on-line casino in Antigua which does not accept wagers from Americans.

What took place Friday had all the earmarks of a James Bond film: sex; gambling; government officials being forced to resign; you name it. Somehow the Starnet fiasco turned out to be linked to a similar raid conducted at the home of Premier, Tony Clark. Further discovery led to a flimsy connection between Clark and Starnet Communications in which a friend of the Premier`s who allegedly offered him a gambling bribe, at one time owned stock in Starnet Communications and was also linked to their once lucrative porn operation. Anyway, Clark quickly became the third British Columbia Premier in ten years to run FROM office (as opposed to run FOR office).

Then we had startled Starnet officials speaking about this unfortunate incident being associated with government`s failure to understand the legalities of the world wide web. Bottom line is Starnet will be here to stay even if some of the directors get hauled off to prison (which there is no indication of that ever happening any time soon). I`m sure there are plenty waiting in the wings to take over their positions; not to mention a few companies waiting in the wings to purchase this lucrative corporation. Dohlen has even suggested he is looking for potential big name buyers. After all we are talking about a company that has been praised by such renowned publications as The Wall Street Journal and Forbes Magazine. And while there are those who suggest Starnet is doing something wrong by accepting revenues derived from gambling via their licensees, they are in fact breaking no laws unless they themselves accept these wagers from Canada. Starnet does not encourage their licensees to allow clients wagering from the United States. The company simply provides licensees with the software and, while SNMM may wish their operators to abide by certain standards and while others might like to have Starnet officials locked up for their licensee`s actions, this is simply an impossible scenario which is akin to saying Dave Thomas of Wendy`s should be locked up if one of his franchisees is found to be selling drugs from their Wendy`s restaurant.

The police on the scene that day appeared to be going through the motions unlike the scene painted in the Vancouver Sun. For those of you who want to believe everything written in Vancouver Sun, I`d caution you to think twice. If this was that great a paper, they would have found out who REALLY has former Sports International clients monies by now. SBET, which owned Sports International, still operates in Vancouver even though one of their founders was convicted and sentenced to several years for stock fraud.

One investor living in Vancouver informed me that he and a friend frantically drove over to Starnet`s headquarters and arrived at 10:00 am only to be greeted by uniformed police officers, who appeared to be in no mood to arrest anybody.

"I even read/held the search warrant document," this investor told me, stunned that what he had heard broadcast over the news was actually true for once.

"The good news is..... when I arrived at MM`s office at approx 10AM.....I talked with a group of 5 cops, 2 uniformd, and 3 plain clothes detective types, who were gathered in the lobby/entrance. I specifically asked the group of cops if SNMM was going to be shut down... the cops told me SNMM would be back basically in full operation sometime next week..... which is now this week."

"I took my digital camera and was going to take pictures to document it..... but when I arrived in the lobby and right away started talking to the group of 5 cops, I quickly glanced around and saw many more cops up on the mezzanine level (lots of detective types), I decided it wasn`t really a situation to start taking pictures of at ultra close range."

      And Finally.....

Sports Market and their sister book, Aces Gold, missed out on last week`s article related to Sportsbook incentives being offered for this NFL season. Well, it`s not too late to check out these two fine books. They have since presented me with this season`s bonus program as illustrated here:

10-10 Special (For Acesgoldcasino) No juice on NFL sides for 10 hours. No 10¢ for 10 hours for Friday 9 am to 7 pm on NFL sides (regular season). If a customer opens with $500 or more, there is 10% bonus. $10000 or more for sign up or reload, there is 15% bonus. We offer 3 point half time teaser on any game we have 1st and 2nd half lines on at the same odds as a 6 point tease at 11/10. We have the only real Online Horses Racing program which will feature a pick3 and pick6 pool very soon.

Beeflips,I posted some of this on the Island.

He said that Jason King confirmed to him that they are capable of being completely operational from Antigua as of immediately. All the servers are there. The Vancouver office serves mainly as site developement and software developement. They get their talent at half the price of Seattle, same with the rent. He said they have a great team. Dohlen and the legal team were at the courthouse yesterday trying to find out what exactly was going on. At worst, they think, there may be an issue of some cheques that were mailed out from Vancouver and this might result in a fine or similar. He stated that Dohlen is a class act and that they have tried to behave like an IBM all along. As to the sale of the adult sites, they had planned the auction type sale prior to the raid and this method of sale had nothing to with the raid. They decided to release this info earlier than expected as a result of the raid. To date they have received some interesting bids and would wait the 30 days to see if they get better offers. As for NASDAQ they have not received any calls or news from them. They have however called and left messages for NASDAQ. As for not halting the stock on friday, SNMM made request with the otc exchange but request denied. In Canada the moment you call an exchange to halt due to pending release, they do it. Not so with US OTC. Mark Dohlen is very motivated leader and the company is what it is today because of his integrity. Business as usuall and they will continue to go on. Excuse any typos as I am pressed for time.

To all.....Huge sell-off recently over what seems to be a simple misunderstanding, CEO claims that nothing illegal was found during the weekend investigation, rumors state that there are no charges pending against SNMM, expected to be receiving a NASDAQ listing soon if the stock starts moving back to its pre-investigation levels, charts show very heavy buying and strong momentum, lots of value-buying is expected in the coming days, rumors state that all the big investors are back in, strong momentum likely to continue, profitable, strong long-term potential

      Interesting Thoughts About Recent Events:

After watching the events that have transpired over the past few days and months I must say I’m still in disbelief.

First off when the cops raid a drug house the cops go in looking for, what else, drugs and or equipment and suspects that make the drugs. Most well planned and organized drug raids end up with arrests and confiscation of drugs and or equipment and property, THAT DAY. Law enforcement agencies love to raid crack houses and display the goods to the media right away, so we can see the fruits of their labor. They don’t raid a crack house without arresting someone and or giving them back their equipment to continue making drugs.

Well SNMM isn’t no crack house and after 18 months of a thorough and intense investigation by the RCMP. One of Canada’s finest and most professional law enforcement agency. What do we have? NOTHING!

Where are all the kiddy porn pictures? Where’s all this illegally laundered money? Show me the servers that were accepting bets from U.S and Canada. In other words, SHOW ME THE MONEY. I’ll tell you what I want to know is how much money did the RCMP spend investigating this? It looks like the RCMP needs to investigate themselves. Not only did they rip off SNMM investors but they also ripped off the Canadian taxpayers, by spending 18 long months, and god knows how many officers on this case. If they could not make a case in 18 months and they could not come up with any incriminating evidence in their search, then something is seriously wrong here. You don’t raid a crack house without confiscating some crack or arresting some crackheads.

They busted the doors of SNMM like a bunch of thugs looking for some very specific things. Kiddy porn being one of them. Come on folks. They are not about to ruin a multi-million dollar operation for a few kiddy porn pictures. If they found any pictures we would have known by now. Even if they did find some I doubt that SNMM would have done it knowingly. Look at what happened to Penthouse magazine back in the 80’s when they took pictures of Tracy Lord. Tracy Lord had a fake ID and misrepresented her age to everyone. Whose fault was that? Penthouse got a lot of bad publicity and got into some heavy dodo over that one. But were are they today, are they still in business? YES.

The press reported that the police captured a bunch of pornographic pictures. I should hope so. For god sake SNMM owns and runs adult web sites. You can’t make any money running adult web sites by showing women’s lingerie. HELLO!!!

The press also reported that the RCMP placed some bets at a few web sites. Well who owns these sites? These sites are owned by SNMM licensee’s, NOT SNMM!! SNMM has made it very clear that they do not accept wages from the U.S and Canada from their own casino web sites. I have tried on each of their sites and was rejected. However, the licensees are another story. It is the responsibility of the licensee to patrol their own site and monitor who can and cannot bet from their offshore casinos. This has not been a major secrete.

Is it Budweiser fault if someone gets drunk and kills someone while driving? Is it the gun manufactures fault if someone buys a gun and shots someone? Is it Tylenol’s fault if someone takes to many Tylenol’s and kills themselves? Is it SNMM’s fault if licensee takes U.S and Canada bets offshore? Okay, maybe I didn’t use the best analogies, but you get the picture. The point is NO!

No, I believe that there are OTHER FORCES at work here other than the RCMP raiding SNMM headquarters or Claude the fraud mounting a smear campaign against SNMM. Claude the fraud and the RCMP are but small fish in a bigger pond. This whole thing has a funny smell to it. Everything over the last few months seem to have been well-planned and well-orchestrated attack against SNMM by someone or something. Being in the gaming and porno business you don’t grow as fast as SNMM has without stepping on someone’s toes or making enemies along the way.

I may take a lot of heat for this but so be it.

Starnet Communications Announces No ChargesFiled, Services Fully Operational as CEO Updates Shareholders; CompanyRetains Legal Counsel; Condemns Child Pornography

      August 25, 1999 09:23 AM Eastern Time
VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 25, 1999--Starnet Communications International Inc. SNMM , an online provider of interactive media and information systems and the recognized leader in Internet gaming, stated today that legal counsel retained by the company has not received charges from Canadian authorities against Starnet, that Starnet is continuing to cooperate with authorities and that its business is 100% fully operational. In addition, the company emphasizes that it is not, nor has it ever been, associated with child pornography, and is strongly opposed to such matters in policy and practice.

Mark Dohlen, chief executive officer of Starnet, stated, "We have retained top legal counsel in Vancouver, who have informed us that they have received no communications from Canadian authorities charging Starnet. Our offices are open and 100% operational. To the best of our knowledge, based on information made available to us by the CLEU, the physical investigation of Starnet headquarters facilities in Vancouver is now complete. We expect no further interruption of our service to customers."

Dohlen further added, "We do not expect this investigation to have any serious long-term effects on our operations, our customers or our business and financial relationships. Our plans to grow and expand our business remain intact. The management of Starnet reiterates our intention to proceed aggressively with our strategic business initiatives as we continue to offer assistance and insight regarding our gaming operations to appropriate legal authorities. "

Commenting on the future of online gaming, Dohlen noted, "Starnet is the leading company at the nexus of technology and online gaming where, unfortunately, very little legal precedent exists. Starnet will support efforts to define the online frontier as we continue to grow operations worldwide."

Dohlen continued, "With regard to Starnet`s entertainment business, we announced earlier this week our intention to monetize that unit and have invited bids from interested parties. We are confident that the expeditious sale of that business will provide Starnet with important capital resources to support our strategic intent and build our gaming operations. In addition, the company`s clear focus on gaming will be enhanced.

"Certain media reports have stated or implied Starnet involvement with illegal and reprehensible child pornography," said Dohlen. "I state without fear of contradiction that our company eschews this practice and has in place policy that forbids such illegal commerce by this organization.

"The goal of this message is to ensure employees, shareholders, customers and the general public that Starnet Communications remains strong in our commitment to offer sophisticated gaming opportunities in an orderly, legal and consistent manner," Dohlen added. "We are grateful to our various constituents for their many recent statements of confidence in our company. We invite them to continue their relationships with Starnet as we emerge from this unexpected and unpleasant incident stronger and more focused in our goal to grow our core gaming business and provide enhanced value to shareholders."

Starnet, named "the established leader in Internet gaming and entertainment" by The Wall Street Journal, is a fully reporting, publicly held interactive entertainment company.

Starnet Investigation Expected to Result in Charges, Police Say

Vancouver, Aug. 25 (Bloomberg) -- Police investigating Starnet Communications International Inc., an Internet gambling and pornography company, said they expect criminal charges to be filed in connection with Friday`s raid of the company`s offices.

Starnet shares had risen as much as 34 percent this morning after the company said no arrests had been made.

``Charges are definitely pending,`` Vancouver Police spokeswoman Anne Drennan said in an interview. ``Right now the investigators are going over the information that`s been seized over the weekend.``

British Columbia`s Coordinated Law Enforcement Unit is investigating possible betting and bookmaking offenses by Starnet and allegations that it distributed illegal pornography over the Internet.

Executives at Starnet, who had downplayed the investigation in a statement earlier today, couldn`t immediately be reached to comment.

      `No Long-Term Effects`

``We do not expect this investigation to have any serious long-term effects on our operations, our customers or our business and financial relations,`` Chief Executive Mark Dohlen had said in a statement. ``Our plans to grow and expand our business remain intact.``

Starnet rose 1 5/32 to 5 3/4 in midafternoon trading after Starnet said there had been no arrests. Earlier, the stock rose as high as 6 1/4.

Drennan said she didn`t know when charges will be filed and that they could be weeks or months away.

The Vancouver-based company said its legal counsel hasn`t been notified of any charges and that the company is cooperating in the investigation. It also said its online gambling and pornography businesses are now operating again, after police searches caused ``minor interruptions`` over the weekend.

Drennan said that 50 officers searched Starnet`s headquarters, from Friday through Sunday night. The homes of six Starnet officers and directors were also searched. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police and officers from the cities of Vancouver, West Vancouver and Delta participated in the raid and the 18-month investigation that led up to it.

Starnet today denied any association with child pornography.

``Certain media reports have stated or implied Starnet involvement with illegal and reprehensible child pornography,`` Dohlen said. ``I state without fear of contradiction that our company eschews this practice and has in place policy that forbids such illegal commerce by this organization.``

Dohlen also said he doesn`t expect any more searches of Starnet headquarters, based on what police have told the company.

      Internet Gambling

Starnet shares have risen more than eightfold over the past year on expectations that millions of people around the world will gamble on its Internet betting sites and on other online casinos that license software developed by Starnet.

Because of legal restrictions in the U.S. and Canada, the company has said it doesn`t take bets from U.S. or Canadian residents. It`s also set up its gambling unit in Antigua, the West Indies.

Starnet has said it plans to sell its pornographic Internet sites to focus on its gambling business.

BREAKING NEWS, RMCP widely criticized for PAYING for a business wire news release which announced future intentions regarding an on going investigation. RMCP is not prepared to issue charges and yet they shamelessly pay for negative promotion to the business and investment market. RMCP`s actions highlight the political nature of their so called investigation. RMCP also notified the press of their "raid" and issued allegations regarding kiddy porn that had no basis. RMCP is beginning to look like a puppet of organized crime. Investigation pending.

      RMCP`s liabilities are growing!

Bekuz, I can confirm that SNMM is a Delaware corporation with all gambling operations domiciled in Antigua. I can confirm SNMM has no liabilities in regards to their licensees. I can confirm that Worldgamming.com represents a small part of their current business and an insignificant part of their future growth. And I can confirm that their paramutual horse racing application is 100% legal and has been estimated to dwarf all other revenues. I also can confirm that SNMM`s Canadian liabilities as they pertain to Worldgamming.com are very limited. The servers are in Antigua and they have a strict measures in place that block Canadian bet placing.

As far as the RMCP press release, this is only my personal observation which, that I guess I may have stated a bit too sensationally (didn`t think people would actually think it was a link). Several news stories and journalists have noted that the press arrived with the RMCP for the raid. The child pornography allegations issued were clearly RMCP defamatory allegations which, they are no longer mentioning. The RMCP`s actions have definelty been strong arm tactics that were carefully timed and shamelessly promoted. And I can confirm that SNMM has rights.

And lastly, I can confirm that strong legal actions are a very possible course of action for SNMM.

      Good luck.

Starnet Communications Expects No Material Impact From Charges, Plans to Grow
Antiguan Office; Company Dismisses Employee; Reiterates Condemnation of Child
      Pornography

      Business Editors & High-Tech/Gaming Writers

      VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 26, 1999--
Starnet Communications International Inc. (OTC BB:SNMM), an online
provider of interactive media and information systems and the
recognized leader in Internet gaming, stated today that it expects
potential charges by Canadian authorities will have no material impact
on the company`s business and that Starnet will aggressively pursue
worldwide expansion of its core gaming operations over the next
      several months.
Starnet has also taken action against one individual for
      violation of company policy.
"Although we have not received any communications from Canadian
authorities charging Starnet, we would welcome this development and
see it as an opportunity to gain better legal definition of online
gaming," said Chief Executive Officer Mark Dohlen.
"We also are fully confident that any charges stemming from this
investigation will not have a material impact on Starnet. We welcome
an expedited resolution of these matters and continue to cooperate
      with the authorities."
Commenting on Starnet`s expansion plans, Dohlen said, "Going
forward, Starnet will continue to lead efforts to support online
gaming in international markets. We anticipate tremendous growth in
global gaming and are well positioned to leverage this explosive
market with our technology and expertise."
Dohlen continued, "As a practical matter and in order to ensure
reliable, uninterrupted service to our clients, we will accelerate our
plans already in place to build operational aspects of our company in
Antigua. Starnet has two years of operational experience in Antigua
and has been working in close consultation and cooperation with
Antiguan authorities over the years to ensure that operations remain
      clearly within legal parameters.
"The company believes this to be a prudent step that will enhance
our value to shareholders and customers. Currently, Starnet employs 40
individuals in Antigua. We anticipate an increase of 50 percent over
      the next several months."
Dohlen also said, "We have been in close contact with our
financial partners and NASDAQ to ensure them there has been no
material change in the company or in our objectives. We will continue
to pursue a NASDAQ listing and will not allow this incident to weaken
      our business relationships.
"I can confirm that in connection with the investigation, a low
level employee revealed to authorities that he was in possession of
what the employee characterized as illegal child pornography," Dohlen
      added.
"This individual was immediately dismissed from the company for
cause. Starnet management reiterates its condemnation of child
pornography and emphasizes that the company has in place policy that
forbids such illegal commerce by this organization."
Dohlen further explained company operations and efforts to
restrict illegal use of Starnet software stating, "Through our
subsidiary, World Gaming, we currently operate several servers in
Antigua for online gaming processing. Both World Gaming and our
subsidiary that sells software to licensees, Softec Systems, are in
      complete compliance with Antiguan law.
"Starnet has also made every attempt to prevent illegal gambling
by individuals from the U.S. and Canada seeking to circumvent system
safeguards," said Dohlen. "In concert with our banking partners, we
regularly screen and block users from jurisdictions where gaming is
illegal. Starnet will continue to develop its cutting edge technology
in this area to prevent potential illegal activities."
Starnet, named "The established leader in Internet gaming and
entertainment" by The Wall Street Journal, is a fully reporting,
      publicly held interactive entertainment company.

      IMPORTANT! READ!!!

Everyone understand just how significant the latest press release from SNMM is. SNMM has stated that despite the likelihood of some charges, they expect that nothing material will develop and that SNMM will not be materially affected. SNMM COULD NOT make this statement unless it had substantial basis in fact for doing so. SEC rules demand such a standard. The risk to SNMM of not doing so would be SEC enforcement action as well as shareholder lawsuits. SNMM obviously knows more about the situation than is currently public and probably knows that the RCMP doesn`t have much but can`t say that directly. The next best thing they can do is to say they expect no material effect on SNMM. This is HUGE!

      From Bloomberg:
(The following is a reformatted version of a press release issued by the Director of Offshore Gaming, Government of Antigua and Barbuda.)

      St. John`s, Antigua, August 26, 1999

Statement by the Director of Offshore Gaming, Mrs. Gyneth McAllister, on behalf of the Government of Antigua and Barbuda.

Starnet Communications International Inc. has three wholly owned subsidiaries duly incorporated under the International Business Corporation Act in Antigua and Barbuda. One of these corporations holds a license to operate both its transaction server and corporate office in St. John`s Antigua since 1997. The software used by World Gaming is that of Softec Systems Caribbean Inc. which is another subsidiary of Starnet Communications International Inc. in Antigua and Barbuda. Voluntarily embedded in the World Gaming Software is a feature which declines applications to open accounts made from the U.S. and Canada. Starnet has proven itself to be a sound corporation and CEO Mr. Mark Dohlen has demonstrated integrity in all aspects of the corporation`s dealings with this Government.

The raid on the offices of Starnet Communications International Inc. in Vancouver last week has in no way affected the status of the license held by World Gaming or the steadily increasing number of applications for Gaming Licenses streaming in from Softec Systems Caribbean Inc., two of which were submitted as recently as Wednesday, August 25, five days after the raid in Vancouver. STATEMENT BY DIR. OFFSHORE GAMING, ANTIGUA, RE CANADIAN CONTACT

(The following is a reformatted version of a press release issued by the Director of Offshore Gaming, Government of Antigua and Barbuda.)
      St. John`s, Antigua, August 25, 1999
The Director of Offshore Gaming, Mrs. Gyneth McAllister makes the following statement on behalf of the government of Antigua and Barbuda:
In a statement made by Vancouver police spokesperson Anne Drennan in the Tuesday August 24 Yahoo News article, "Canada Raid Worries Net Gambling Firm`s Investors," Drennan reported that authorities in Antigua are working with Canada on the investigation into the operations of Starnet Communications International Inc. While the government of Antigua and Barbuda works with the Canadian government on a continuous basis the specific references to assistance given by our government to Canada in the investigation into the operations of Starnet Communications is inaccurate. To date the government of Antigua and Barbuda has received no request for information from the Canadian government with regard to Starnet Communications International Inc., or any of its subsidiaries in the state of Antigua and Barbuda. Dohlen previously states... Absolutly no child porn... oops, except for this small one right here. I am not bashing but does`nt it sound like a risky payoff was offered to the scapegoat employee. The fact remains now... there was child porn at SNMM! And why in a panic, offer the sale of porn side? Does that mean that there was never any prospective buyers as the PAR would have us beleive. How long were they intending to hold on to it? You can bet with an 18 month investigation the police are going to be darn sure at this point not to rush anything, lots of stuff to go through. Everyone of my Vancouver legal and broker sources say "Get out now, this is very big and the worst is to come". I`ve been in Snmm for a while now, and like most have taken several serious financial blows and at this point my gut instinct tells me, SNMM is guilty! Snmm is executing shotgun porn sale and preparing to get out of Dodge. Whether or not trading will stop is unknown, but I do know one thing... this whole mess is being played down by SNMM. I would bet that police issued last nights release in response to SNMM`s previous "All quiet on the Western Front" report. Const. Ann Drennan has been flooded with weeping investors... I feel she`s making sure to keep the public and investors constantly aware of the severity of all this despite Dohlen`s optimism to place herself in a "Don`t say we didn`t warn you" position . Of course I must remain in SNMM, at this price how much lower can it go? One half lower is only $2.50 unlike last weeks split. Let me reitterate... I AM NOT A BASHER, I mostly post positive SNMM reports and honest questions but it is in frusteration to all the pumping and bashing on this board that I vent. Most of us here I`m sure realize SNMM is`nt going to the moon ($6, $7, $8, ?) anytime soon. That`s it.

      Charges will definetly be filed.

For those not sure of that get in touch with someone you know who
has access to bloomberg terminal (not the website, but rather the real
thing). There`s a 4 minute audio interview with Constable Anne
Drennan of the RCMP stating that charges will be filed. It`s not a
matter of if, it`s a matter of when

      .........

The Toronto-based brokerage makes it clear that it has done little or no
independent research on the company, conceding on the cover of the
memorandum that the information contained in the document was furnished by
Starnet. "In all cases, interested parties should conduct their own investigation and
analysis of the data set forth in the memorandum," the brokerage warns. "Nesbitt
Burns has reviewed, but has not independently verified, the information contained
      therein."

Still, Nesbitt was comfortable enough with the veracity of Starnet`s information
that it sponsored the glowing prose beneath its well-regarded letterhead.

      ...
Contacted in New York, Nesbitt`s private placement director John Ponterotto
declined to make any comment about the company`s relationship with Starnet,
citing Nesbitt policy about unauthorized discussions with the news media. An
industry source in Toronto, however, says the private placement was still
considered a "go" as recently as Tuesday morning -- several days after Friday`s
raid. The deal now, he says, has been declared dead in the water by the
      brokerage.

      ...

Solange nicht ein wenig mehr Licht in die Angelegenheiten gekommen ist, sehen die Broker das Placement als ein zu heißes Eisen an.

PHONE CONVERSATION WITH ROB GRACE OF THE IR DEPT. STARNET (August 26, 1999)

The following information has been provided to me by an investor named Eric. The questions are being asked of Rob Grace (IR Department for Starnet):

      1) First, I asked what the investigation was really about since there hasn`t been really any details in any of the press releases?

He answered that it`s still really not clear. From what he can gather, the Canadian government had though that the Antiguan office was a front for the operations and that they thought the operation was really in fact in Vancouver. They were also investigating the fact that one of the employees was watching kiddie porn on the computers at the office. The "low level" employee that was terminated and has taken full responsibility for owning the kiddie porn (DELETED) The directors and other employees at Starnet had no idea that the guy was doing these activities at their office and has since been terminated. Charges, if any, will be brought solely upon that ex-employee.

He says that there are still some issues that the cops could bring charges upon Starnet for and that they have been in the process of moving those operations to Antigua. Those issues being the accounting and some of the customer service is still based in Vancouver. The government sees those operations as part of the whole gaming package. (if a customer calls for tech support and the customer service person answers the phone in Vancouver, then, the gaming has switched from Antigua to Canada, even though it`s only tech support) Rob also told me that the majority of the customer service was already in Antigua (30 of the 40 employees) and by the end of the week, that part and the accounting section will be completely in Antigua. The reason why they haven`t moved those sections earlier was due to the lack of talent in Antigua. "Even having a customer service in Antigua was already a stretch"

      2) I asked whether the software development section was also moving to Antigua?

He replied that the software development team hasn`t been a problem legally yet and, once again, the lack of talent in Antigua and cheaper salaries compared to Seattle is the strategic reasons behind having the team there.

      3) I asked how the raid will affect the Nasdaq application?

He replied that they`ve been in contact with the Nasdaq people and that they were given the answer of "neutral" for the time being; meaning that the issue is on hold and no decision either way has been made yet. He says that he understands since there`s still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the investigation. He doesn`t expect any answers from Nasdaq for at least a couple weeks as more is known about the investigation.

      4) I asked about the Nesbitt Burns private placement and how this will affect the 30 million private placement?

He replied that they`ve contacted each other and essentially, they`ve both agreed to put the issue on hold. Neither party want to terminate their relationship with each other but, Starnet does not need the money right now nor do they want the private placement to go through when the share price is around $5. He also mention that the fact that Nesbitt Burns has always been a conservative firm, just the fact that they`re willing to invest in Starnet is a big step and he understands the "wait and see" response.

      5) I asked about the recent PAR report update that came out on Sunday night giving the "temporarily avoid" recommendation?

He replied that in fact they`ve had contact with John Dutton of PARs to explain the whole situation to him and that John has visited their offices quite a few times before the incident and was very impressed with the operation. Rob wasn`t sure if John was going to come out with another update anytime soon and to remain creditable, John would also take the "wait and see" approach also. He did assure me that they`ve answered all questions that John had and that they continue to have a good relationship.

      6) Finally, I asked when and if they were going to release a detailed press release regarding the investigation?

Rob replied that they`re working on some sort of detailed press release for the future but, they`re trying to get out as much info as they can as they come upon new information. He also mentioned the press release that was put out from the Antiguan government regarding the investigation and that the Canadian government has not contacted them in any way. (Mentioned that there some untruth in either the Canadian RCMP press release or the Antiguan government PR in regards to the investigation in Antigua)

He added that there was no connection between the investigation with Starnet and the recent resignation of Premier Clark or any connection with the Hells Angels. The only connection to the Premier was that an associate of Clarks (Steve Ng) was a one time shareholder in 97/98. The only connection with the Hells Angels is that one of them is currently a shareholder and that he books stripers in Canada.

***My personal assessments regarding this conversation:

I got the feeling that Rob was up front and truthful with everything he told me. He knows that there`s still quite a bit of uncertainty regarding the whole investigation and that the company is trying to move in the right direction to fix as many of the recent hurdles as quickly as possible. I got the feeling that the whole kiddie porn incident disgusted him and even mentioned the fact that he, himself, has 2 kids and that he had to pull 1 of directors aside on Monday to find out what was really going on with that part of the investigation. He was embarrassed that his neighbors didn`t know whether they should allow their kids to go over and play with his kids anymore. He mentioned that none of the current licensees gave any indications that they wanted to drop Starnet and that they are still actively seeking new licensees. He doesn`t see any problems with signing new licensees; that a few potential licensees might put the signing on hold for a little while.

      More trouble for Starnet

Starnet is embroiled in another lawsuit, brought by Home Gambling Network. Home Gambling is suing the company for infringing on its method patent. The patented technology enables Internet gaming from a remote location in a live casino game, involving on-line debiting and the crediting of wins and losses directly to a player`s financial institution.

The discovery portion of the proceedings has begun. Starnet will be forced to open its books. Deedee Molnick, president of Home Gambling, says that Starnet will have to reveal a number of pieces of information, such as a complete list of its licensees, where wagering is taking place and where its gamblers are located. (There is US legislation that makes online gambling illegal in its borders.)

Home Gambling cannot put an exact price on the damages it is seeking while the case is in court, but according to Mel Molnick, the company`s secretary treasurer, a rough estimate for the federal court`s award in damages would be between $150 and $200 million.

Starnet Communications Auditor Ernst & Young Quits (Update3)

Starnet Communications Auditor Ernst & Young Quits (Update3) (Adds details, beginning in 5th paragraph. Updates with closing share price.)
Vancouver, Aug. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Starnet Communications International Inc., a company under investigation for alleged gambling and pornography offenses, said its independent auditor Ernst & Young quit.

Neither of Ernst & Young`s financial statements on Starnet in the past two years have contained adverse opinions or disclaimers, Starnet said in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The company operates gambling and pornography sites on the Internet.

British Columbia`s Coordinated Law Enforcement Unit raided Starnet`s Vancouver headquarters and six of its officers` and directors` homes a week ago, seeking evidence of gambling and bookmaking offenses and evidence that it distributed child pornography and other illegal pornography over the Internet. Its shares have fallen 57 percent since then.

Starnet officials couldn`t be reached for comment, though Chief Executive Mark Dohlen said yesterday that he expects any criminal charges that result from the police investigation to have no material impact on Starnet`s business.

An Ernst & Young spokesman declined to comment. The accounting firm gave notice it was quitting Tuesday.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police and city police from Vancouver, West Vancouver and Delta searched Starnet`s offices Friday and throughout last weekend, after an 18-month investigation. Police have said they expect charges to be filed within weeks or months.

      Internet Gambling

Starnet shares have risen more than ninefold over the past year on optimism that millions of people around the world will gamble on its Internet sites and on the sites of other companies that license software that Starnet developed. The company has said it will sell its pornographic Internet sites.

Canadian laws are unclear about gambling on the Internet, though attorneys have generally said taking bets on the Internet could be prosecuted in Canada. Starnet has said it complies with the law by basing its gambling unit in Antigua and by refusing bets on its own gambling site from residents of Canada or the U.S., where gambling on the Internet also is restricted.

Police claim evidence that some server computers used for Starnet`s online gambling network were located at its Vancouver offices, according to a court filing that police made to obtain search warrants. Important functions such as web page design and credit card transaction processing were also done in Vancouver, police said.

Police also alleged that licensees of Starnet`s gambling software took bets from Canada and the U.S.

      Licensees` Sites

Starnet operates important functions of licensees` Internet businesses, including transaction processing and customer support, again from its offices in Vancouver, police said. The company also shares the revenue generated by its licensees` Internet sites.

Police also claimed to have downloaded sadomasochistic images, illegal in Canada, from Starnet`s pornographic Web sites. They also claimed to have evidence that child pornography was distributed by Starnet.

The company said Wednesday that it fired a low-level employee who had said he possessed child pornography. The company also said it has a policy ``that forbids such illegal commerce by this organization.``

Dohlen said he would welcome gambling-related charges because they could set precedents that would clarify Canadian law about online gambling.

      (COMTEX) B: Starnet auditor quits
      B: Starnet auditor quits

VANCOUVER, Aug 27, 1999 (The Canadian Press via COMTEX) -- The outside
auditor for Starnet Communications International Inc., whose Vancouver
offices were raided by police last week, has quit.

Starnet filed a report with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
this week stating that Ernst and Young had ``declined to stand for
re-election as an independent auditor`` as of Tuesday.

The report said neither of Ernst and Young`s audit reports in the last
two years have contained adverse opinions and there have been no
      disagreements on accounting matters.

A Starnet representative said Ernst and Young quit because ``all of our
gaming operations are being moved to Antigua, and they (the auditors)
don`t have offices down there to accommodate us.``

Officials of Ernst and Young in Vancouver did not return telephone
      calls Friday.

Starnet`s offices were searched by police Aug. 20 in connection with
the company`s Internet gaming and pornography distribution businesses.
      Police say charges are pending.

The company`s share price, which peaked at $26 US on the OTC bulletin
board, dropped to $13 US just before the raid, and has since plunged to
      $5.69 US.

Information used by police to obtain the search warrant said Starnet
made a secret deal with the Antiguan government to buy cut-rate gaming
licences which it planned to re-sell to its licensees at an undisclosed
      mark-up.

The deal included an agreement that the Antiguan government would
cancel a contract with a senior trade official because he had been a
``hindrance`` to Starnet`s gaming business in that country, the
      information alleges.

Police allege that 15 officers, directors or associates of Starnet have
been engaging in illegal Internet pornography distribution and gaming.

Starnet is based in Vancouver, but runs its gaming operations through
two subsidiaries in the Caribbean island country.

Since I`m a stuck long and favor averaging down, at these prices, I still think it`s going to be critical to watch this all unfold and find the right time to do so.

Each long has their own situation. Maybe some are too fully invested to scale down and hold long. The only harm to doing so is if you truly believe this stock will zero out and disappear. Does anyone vested believe that?

I`m going to scale down carefully. Perhaps even go beyond the original holding amounts and take some profits on up days. So far, this stock is swinging into 20% trading ranges each day and that doesn`t put us too at risk if the buys are placed low. A one point gain on a 5 point stock is considerable.

If I can accumulate enough to sell some of my highly traded shares out at a break even, I`ll do that. But I will be holding a core amount at these prices with the bullheaded mindset that it`s not going to be a loser in the future. Most of my positions will be placed for rises between Jan- April of next year anyway.

What I don`t expect is to see NASDAQ or a return to the teens anytime soon. This is a long play now. All we can do is position and bide our time.

Adlib B - with all do respect, just a thought on your statement inquiring if anyone really thought this stock could go lower. When it was at 20 I NEVER thought it could go to 13 and when it was at 13 I NEVER thought it could go to 5. I`m not saying it will go lower, but I`m not going to say it can`t.

I don`t want people to think I am bashing this stock. I just want myself and anyone else to be fully informed. I KNOW that there will be a company whose stock will skyrocket because of this industry. I hope it is SNMM, as I have dedicated most of my time to them. But I also believe there is a possibility that things could get worse and the door opens for someone else. I will be watching very closely, and I hope we are all there and rewarded when this company or some other i-gaming company gets it all together.

I`m not worried about it going lower, yanks. I scale down carefully and buy in lots on each additional dip. My statement was if anyone that`s still invested long believes it will fall and not return? Can you see Starnet, a profitable company pre-NASDAQ, already well established and ahead of the pack in a growing sector, falling to 1 and staying there? I just can`t see that. These guys would either have to run this company into the ground or pilfer it completely and run with the assets. That`s too far-fetched for me to believe, at this point.

I`m angry at all that`s happened, but it did. All we can do it look forward and find our best route in repositioning ourselves. I can`t see sitting andwwaiting around for my investment to break even. That`s too far off to contemplate. So I`m repositioning based on what I think of the situation right now. And that is that this company is not going to be run into the ground and investors aren`t going to be able to ignore the bottom line once all the facts of the current situation are known and behind us.

I`ve posted my course of action not to encourage others but to get input, as you just offered. I`m fortunate to be able to make this move and hold long. I know many others can`t. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Adlib B - I respect your thoughts and I think your making your decisions thoughtfully enough that you aren`t going to get hurt. You`re doing it the right way, not everyone is.

Here is what I intend to do this week, as I recently accepted a new job and will now have 3 1/2 weeks off. I am going to call IR on Monday and not question them, but grill them - mostly for information on licensees, Nesbitt Burns, and NASDAQ. As I have already mentioned, I take any IR department with a large grain of salt, so I will also attempt to contact HR. This too though, will be taken with a grain of salt. If possible, I would like to get a hold of a few of their public licensees and find out their feelings on recent developments. Unfortunately, calling Nesbitt Burns and NASDAQ are usually pointless, as they wont tell you anything. I have spoken with NASDAQ several times, and got as close as speaking directly to the woman handling this application, but all they will tell you is the current status and to call SNMM for any further information. Of course, like all of us, my hands will be tied in looking for info, but I`ll take a shot at it. Like I said, someone is going to pay off huge in this industry - hopefully it is SNMM. I have made some money, so I think the hardest thing to deal with this past week is the amount of time I felt I wasted by having such a retracement. It would be nice for it to all be worth it.

Good luck - nice talking to you.

      yanks

      RUSTY!!!! - and ALL LONGS
Thank God you are out! I`ve been listening to you whine for a week and can`t stand you anymore. This stall is temporary, as investors like yourself sell and smarter ones climb on board - then we move forward. WAKE UP!!! - Thousands of lawsuits are filed every day, and in this case nothing has been filed, yet people like yourself run scared. People with a legitimate chance in court go to court, not to Gambling Magazine.
Big money is smart money, and smart money will realize as this company gains more exposure that Gambling Magazine is about as legitimate for financial information as the National Enquirer.

How can you say NASDAQ is a smoke screen????? Do you realize when this company goes NASDAQ it will increase the buying power of every long in this stock???? - and what do you think those longs will want to buy??????

Good bye, good riddance, and don`t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

      Hi all longs,
I will just quote part of an article that was on page 9 of Racing Post (horse racing paper mainly) today, " Eurobet taking £2m per week on net. Eurobet the Gibraltar based internet betting company claimed yesterday to be taking £2 million a week in bets as it confirmed reports that both William Hill and Coral ( both bookie firms in Great Britain and Ireland )have both made approaches to buy the business.
Domenico Giovando, the firm`s joint managing director, said the business which currently boasts 25,000 deposit clients, but a staff of just five could be floated on the stock market if the offers come to nothing."

I know its hard to make comparisons between companies but we know from Mark Dohlen that Starnet have 200,000, and rising, customers who bet regularly compared with 25,000 above. So I see Starnet turning over massive amounts of money for the rest of this year and when all the new licensees start to generate serious money this company is going to explode with hugh profits.
The main concern seems to be the law, or lack of it governing i gambling but to me, I come from Ireland, think thats only an American/Canadian problem as here in Europe there does not seem to be a problem with it and there are alot of firms taking bets through the net. So worst case is Starnet will have to move, so what, big deal its a global market now and who cares where a companies address resides so long as they are looking after the share holders best interest.
I know its been hard for us longs over the last week or so and these bashers do not help. But remember in the long run its the facts that count and thats what ultimately drive the share price up. So if anybody out there needs reassuring well read Starnet`s quarterly reports and the PAR reports at least once a week. Thats the real facts anything else is just oppinion.

bye and best of luck to all,

      Sean

I talked to a friend over the weekend who is a detective in a police department in the United States.

Thought that 68 pages was unusually small for an 18 month long investigation - by US Standards anyway.

After I told him everything that I know to be of fact, he said it will probably be a pistol-match between SNMM and the authorities on the legality of internet gambling. These were my thoughts exactly.

Also, said that they would not have allowed SNMM to resume operations had they found child-porn, drugs, etc.

(entry level employee possessing child porn on his computer doesn`t really matter that much)

      Good Morning SNMMers

Just wanted to let everyone know that it is confirmed that Anthony@Pacific, the famous short at SI, did in fact provide information to Vancouver Police and/or RCMP regarding Starnet.

Although he knew how the company operates, he informed police that SNMM was accepting wagers from Canada, but did not mention it was a licensees site. He went short on the stock. I am sure he is being investigated by the SEC.

I have been virtually unable to post here, I keep getting internal server errors. I also have been posting as SpongeBob

ISN Exclusive Interview With Starnet`s CEO!
      Monday, August 30, 1999 5:21 PM
      by Ted Kunzog

As many may be aware, Starnet Communications International, Inc. was recently raided by the Canadian police due to allegations of solicitation of adult entertainment and gaming from their Canadian headquarters. Many company personnel were prevented from entering their offices until the following Monday as the Canadian police confiscated some computers and other records.

Although some of Starnet`s web sites were sporadically unavailable as authorities requested down time for investigation, Starnet stated that, at no time, was service completely disrupted, as their servers are located offshore in Antigua. The company was completely restored to normal operations the following Monday (August 23) as no charges were filed.

Although Starnet has been extremely busy due to this situation, their CEO, Mark Dohlen, took some time out for an exclusive interview with our senior editor, Ted Kunzog on Wednesday. Ted`s questions are indicated by ISN and Mr. Dohlen`s responses by SNMM. Enjoy!

ISN: Mark, we are extremely sorry for the unfortunate events your company has gone through in recent days. I know many of our subscribers feel the same way. Is there anything at all you would like to say to Internet Stock News subscribers?

SNMM: We appreciate their continued support through this unfortunate situation and we want to give our assurances that we are continuing to execute our business plan and have every intention and full expectation to continue on and build the business as we have always planned to.

ISN: What do you expect in terms of charges resulting from your recent raid?

SNMM: We do not expect any charges to be relayed to the company as a result of these recent investigations. If, at worst, any charges are laid, they would be against some of the senior officers and directors of Starnet for an accused violation of section 202 of the Canadian Criminal code that relates to bookmaking (sports betting) activities. Based on information that is coming through the press, it will take the authorities several months or longer to complete their investigation, before they can come up with any charges, if any. We feel that any bookmaking charges that result will relate to activities long in the past of Starnet.

ISN: In terms of these charges that might be laid, what is the worst-case scenario we might be looking at?

SNMM: There are a couple of subsections in the criminal code under 202 that they are looking at. Our feedback has been that typically a first offense under this section is a $200 fine. There are obviously a few factors that go into sentencing in our case if we were found guilty: we operated openly, we were in a gray area at worst, that we were cooperative, but on the other side we do things in great magnitude here. We expect at worst for it to be a small fine.

ISN: Starnet was reportedly under investigation for the last 18 months. Was management aware that this investigation was going on?

SNMM: No sir, we were not aware that this investigation was going on. If w were, we would have called them up and invited them in.

ISN: Were you aware that a raid was imminent?

      SNMM: No.

ISN: What do you think were the motivations behind the raid?

SNMM: I think that there was some uncertainty with the nature of how we operated our business here. It is unfortunate; we have always had an open door policy and been very above board about what it is we are doing. I think that there was some uncertainty that in this case may have caused suspicion. We have been a high profile company with some success, unfortunately whether some people hold that against you, I don`t know. I guess that because of the highly technical and new industry that we are in here, we`ve established a certain kind of business model and made certain assumptions, and it was hard either for the authorities to understand or confirm those assumptions. I think that is what they are going through right now and I feel very comfortable that they`ll come away and say, You guys are okay.

ISN: How much would you expect this raid to reduce your company`s quarterly results in US dollar terms?

SNMM: We are going to see some unbudgeted costs as it relates to the cleanup and getting our business back in order after this disruption. Obviously we are going to be incurring additional legal and public relations fees. Nothing really substantial, but they`ll be something around two hundred thousand dollars, I`m sure. Unfortunately, we will probably see a short-term negative impact on new licensee sign-ups because of some of the current uncertainty. We do feel comfortable with our work in progress; our licensee program is far ahead of meeting our sales objectives. We are going to spend the next month or so focusing back in house and ramping up our activities here while we let things cool down a bit in the community. We`ve got to remain very vocal and get our message out. There will be a minor impact on our results with some expense increases as well as a short-term negative impact on the sale of new licensees. We don`t expect any impact on our ongoing licensee revenue, as our licensees are still there and in business. It seems that this has received much more attention from the financial community than the online gaming community as we continue to operate an excellent system.

ISN: Do you anticipate any changes in Starnet`s operations as a result of the raid?

SNMM: We already have about 40 people employed in Antigua, and we have been growing rapidly both in Vancouver and in Antigua. Some of the growth will be in Antigua as we continue to ramp up operational activities. We do development in Vancouver and operational activities in Antigua and, as our business was to grow with the increase in licensees and users, there was a planned growth in this operational infrastructure. In fact, there really hasn`t been a movement of things; it will be an expansion of our activities in Antigua that has been coming on stream for several months now. This is simply related to the growth in our business. Quite frankly, nothing has changed around here, or very little.

ISN: There was one report in the media I saw that discussed insider stock sales prior to the raid.

SNMM: No, I have no knowledge of insider stock trades other than normal course employee options, and that would be anyone from the customer service group. So we`re not aware of any insider trading prior to the raid.

ISN: Ignoring your licensees, can any US or Canadian citizen place a wager on a Starnet gambling site?

SNMM: We from day one have stated that any of Starnet`s wholly owned subsidiary World Gaming Services will not knowingly accept a wager from any US or Canadian resident. We have taken reasonable measures to ensure that we do not. We then have started another company called Softek Systems, which is our licensing entity. We have a license in Antigua that makes it legal for us to accept a wager from anywhere in the world. We have set the restriction on not accepting wagers from the US and Canada on our own simply because we feel that this is a gray area, and that accepting wagers from the US and Canada could put us at some exposure.

The biggest part of our business now is licensing our technology to independent gaming operators and one of the first requirements you must have to become a licensee is to have a valid gaming license. Since we are not authorities in any of this we do not put restrictions on what are legal activities in the jurisdiction in which they are conducted. In other words, we have a licensee that operates out of Antigua, and we provide him with a system. Within his license in Antigua he is doing everything legally that he is required to do, and if he chooses to accept a wager from the U.S. we do not restrict that. The Antiguan government says that these guys are legal doing what they`re doing, and that we`re (Starnet) a supplier to them, like VISA, AT we are not in violation of any U.S. laws. We don`t ask for legal opinions from our licensees because that is a responsibility of the authorities and the authorities we are concerned about in this case is Antigua and that`s where we operate from. You can place a bet with some Starnet licensees through their business from the U.S. but Starnet themselves is not in violation of any laws by them doing so.

It actually came up in the information used for the search warrant that said that the police had gone in and played with this one guy, then played with the next guy, then played with a third guy, and at the end of every session they said they went in to World Gaming and were denied access.

ISN: Do you expect the investigation to impact your pending NASDAQ registration, and can you give us an update on that at all?

SNMM: All that we have been told by the authorities here in British Columbia is that there were authorities from the US involved because of the technical complexity of the business. Neither the SEC or the NASD has contacted us, and quite frankly we`ve been too busy with business around here to call them. We realize that the normal thing for them to do would be to take a look and see what happens here in the near term and see if we can get some stability in the market, because our business and our balance sheet have not changed here from last week to this week. We have seen a drop in our share price, which obviously is unfortunate, but whether the NASD will be hesitant to deal with us while there is an ongoing investigation or not we don`t know. Our business is our business and that has been the key of our focus at this time. We will be in contact with the NASD here shortly to give them our side of the story and let them know what`s going on.

ISN: Could you update us on the sale of Starnet`s adult entertainment division? When the sale might be expected and how much might be received for the sale?

SNMM: This is a divesture that had always been in the business plan for us as it is now a small part of our ongoing revenues and not the key focus of our attention for over two years now. We decided on the divestiture based on our desire to make further inroads in our gaming business and to distance ourselves from the nature of that previous business and because we make a better return on gaming activities. The raid was not the catalyst in the announcement of the sale of the adult entertainment division; it was something we had chosen to do the week prior, irrespective of those events on Friday. We expect that we could generate proceeds of up to $10 million on this sale. We`re really trying to get all of our potential purchasers identified, we have several, quite a few actually, and once we get them all in place we want to go with what we call almost an auction process so we can sell to whoever is prepare to pay the highest amount. I`d hope that we`d get up to $10 million for it, and that would come in the form of some cash and some kind of note paid out over a year or two, whatever those terms may be. It has been an asset that has not appeared on our balance sheet, but we have enjoyed the revenues from it. In our last quarter I think it was getting down to about 12 or 14 percent of our revenues, so we`re not going to see a significant drop in revenues from that, we`re going to more than make up for that with our growth of the gaming business, but it will be nice to see that asset on the balance sheet.

ISN: Mark, thanks so much for your time and candor in speaking with me today. I wish you all the luck in the world and I know many of our subscribers feel the same way.

This government has a hard time dealing with the Net. Their "old" habit of legistlating control just doesn`t work with the Internet. Don`t remember the the authors` name, but there`s a book written "World Without Borders", the idea is far closer to reality due to the Internet.

The Kyl bill proposes that the burden of government regulations/controls be placed on the backs of ISP`s. And I would venture to just without compensation.

The joke of it all is the "click the mouse bet the house", so I ask, if I can go to Vegas or play my state Lotto and "bet the house", why can`t I bet the house from my PC ? One reason, someone isn`t getting their cut.

Starnet seeking control of two frozen accounts David Baines, Sun Business Reporter Vancouver Sun Starnet Communications International Inc., under police investigation for its Internet gaming and pornography activities, is battling to regain control of $6.85 million US in two bank accounts frozen by court order.

Thursday, Starnet lawyer David Lunny asked B.C. Supreme Court judge Patrick Dohm to lift the order, granted Aug. 25 after an ex-parte application by the B.C. atterney-general`s office that gave Starnet no opportunity to argue the case.

Dohm adjourned the matter to Wednesday after Crown counsel Pat Donald said she needed more time to respond to Lunny`s argument.

From Aug. 20 to Aug. 22, police conducted a search of Starnet`s head office on Carrall Street to look for evidence that the company was engaged in illegal Internet gaming and pornography. Police say charges are
      pending.

The next day, a Starnet representative walked into the main office of CIBC in Vancouver and asked to transfer the contents of two US dollar accounts in the names of Starnet and a subsidiary, Softec Systems Caribbean Inc., to bank accounts in Antigua.

The Starnet account contained $6.6 million US and the Softec account$250,000 US.

The bank, after consulting with RCMP, refused to release the funds, even though there was no formal freeze order on the accounts.

On Aug. 25, the Crown applied to B.C. Supreme Court for an order to freeze the accounts on the basis that the money in them represented proceeds of crime.

Staff Sergeant Mike Ryan, in charge of the Starnet investigation, filed a supporting affidavit saying he believed that some or all of the money came from illegal gaming activities [through Starnet subsidiary EFS USA] or from insiders exercising stock options.

Without a freeze order, he argued, the money could disappear, making it impossible to seize the money under proceeds of crime laws.

Lunny told Dohm in court Thursday that Ryan had not disclosed the total amount in the two accounts, or the portions that had come from EFS USA and the exercise of options, or the timing of deposits from these two sources.

He also said Ryan had not provided a basis for characterizing the people who exercised the options as insiders, or explained why money obtained from the exercise of options could be construed as proceeds of crime.

Lunny said that, according to an analysis conducted for Starnet by chartered accountant Robert Roy, none of the money on deposit in the Starnet account came from EFS USA and only $220,000 from insiders exercising options.

He said the freeze order added up to "an unwarranted restraint of funds" and a serious impediment to its business operations.

He made no submission with respect to the Softec account, except to say that the entire account should be released. He also asked for costs to be awarded against the Crown.

Donald asked for an adjournment to prepare her case, which Dohm granted without giving Lunny an opportunity to object.
