Apple’s gross margins were on the high end of its projections last quarter, coming in at 38%. They were down versus year-ago margins of 39.7% of revenue but on high end of Apple’s forecast in April of between 37.5 percent and 38 percent.

Where China suffered, Japan flourished. Revenue in the Japan region rose to $3.53 billion versus $2.87 billion a year ago. The rest of Asia Pacific, which includes India, slumped to $2.38 billion from $2.95 billion.

Apple China revenue came in at $8.85 billion versus $13.2 billion a year ago — a 33% decline. Sales in the Greater China region plunged 26% to $12.49 billion in its fiscal second quarter, marking the biggest percentage decline of any of Apple’s geographic regions. The company has been suffering from competition in the region, particularly from lower-priced local rivals. It has also been battling strict regulations there, which have led to the banning of some of its services.

Alles nicht so schlimm wie befürchtet. Also eine positive Überaschung. Trotz Rückgang der Zahlen gibts denn nen Kursaufschlag.

Dennoch...ein eindeutiger Trend.

Apple expects revenues in the current quarter of $45.5 billion to $47.5 billion. As Jen pointed out earlier, analysts expect $45.9 billion in the quarter when the iPhone 7 is expected to launch.
