The company released its preliminary Q1 2015 figures yesterday. The results turned out better than expected by us with revenue growth
exceeding growth in shipments. Yesterday’s share price reaction was therefore not justified in our view, and could be attributed to profit taking.
Stellar growth in US shipments drives top-line growth: Shipments of solar power modules rose by 44% yoy from 140 MW in Q1 2014 to
202 MW in the first quarter of 2015. This is considerably higher than indicated by the company at its presentation of full-year 2014 results on
March 26, when the company stated that group-wide shipments in Q1 2015 had increased by more than 30%. Growth in shipments was mainly
driven by MW shipments to the US market which increased by 170% yoy from 43 MW in Q1 2014 to 116 MW in Q1’15 and therefore
represented around 57% of total group shipments. This is in line with the company’s FY 2015 guidance that shipments to the US market should
contribute more than 50% of the group’s targeted 1.0 GW shipment in 2015. In addition, shipments growth in Japan, Australia and South Africa,
helped counter sluggish European demand, increasing the proportion of foreign shipments to 90%. Moreover, sales in Q1 2015 grew by 50%
yoy to EUR 149m, which is particularly encouraging, in our view, since it points to the fact that SolarWorld was able to capitalise on the weak
euro and sold its modules at favourable prices (we believe US module prices considerably exceeded EUR 0.60/Wp). This resulted in the
unfamiliar scenario for SolarWorld where revenue growth exceeded growth in shipments.
Operating profit comparison is distorted by significant one-off effects in Q1 2014: Reported EBITDA in Q1 2015 came in at EUR 3m
which compares to EUR 137m in Q1 2014. However, the previous year’s EBITDA was heavily distorted by significant positive one-off effects of
EUR 135.6m from the acquisition of the solar activities from Bosch (badwill). Hence, one should not compare this year’s EBITDA of EUR 3m
with the previous year’s EBITDA for the first quarter. Adjusted for the Bosch effect, last year’s EBITDA only amounted to EUR 1.6m. Moreover,
if last year’s figure is adjusted for a positive earnings effects from the termination of wafer supply contracts, an adj. EBITDA of -EUR6m is
reached.
FY 2015 guidance looks increasingly feasible: The company guides for module shipments of at least 1.0GW (WRe: 1.1 GW), revenues of at
least EUR 700m (WRe: EUR 747m) and positive EBIT (WRe: EUR 23m) in 2015. We believe these targets have now come well within reach.

hält sich doch super an so einem schlechten Tag, dürfte noch was gehn falls der Markt mitspielt.

Analystenmeinungen sehen ja wider erwarten gar nicht so schlecht aus ... denke auch das sie sich nach unten hin beruhigt haben ... jetzt schauen alle auf die Einladungen zur HV Anfang Juni mit einem hoffentlich sonnigen Ausblick auf Asbeck und seinem 3/4 Stimmanteilen
