While preparing for listing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE), Green Energy Technology reiterated confidence about its business outlook. The company said its silicon wafer order landing status is good, while thin-film solar cell volume production is on track, with aggressive sales contribution anticipated.

Green Energy company president Hurlon Lin updated that the company produced a total of 100 peak megawatt (MWp) of silicon wafers in 2007, with current annual capacity running at 200MWp. The company plans to boost capacity to 270MWp by enhancing its existing production facilities.

Since polysilicon is expected to be in severe shortage in 2008, no expansion for silicon ingot production is planned yet, Lin said. The company will assess the situation during mid 2008 by reviewing the expansion plans of polysilicon suppliers, he added. He also noted that the per kilogram price of polysilicon is only expected to reduce by US$5 each year through 2015, Green Energy thus finds it necessary to secure long-term contracts.

Currently Green Energy's silicon wafer has 60%-70% of orders under a material consignment basis. Lin expects that the ratio will maintain stable in 2008. As Green Energy will see more polysilicon supply from signed contracts in 2009, he added in saying that material self-sufficiency will grow accordingly from then. He estimated that Green Energy should house a total polysilicon amount of 3,000 tons in 2010.

Regarding progress on thin-film solar cell production, Lin updated that equipment move-in is scheduled in May with volume production slated to commence in the fourth quarter of 2008. Capacity is initially set at 30MWp with an anticipated sales contribution of NT$400-500 million (US$12.3-15.4 million). Based on an average selling price (ASP) of US$2.40-2.60 per watt, thin-film solar cell production will generate total sales of about US$75 million in 2008. The capacity amount is set to ramp to 50MWp in 2009.

Green Energy plans to list on the TSE on January 25 with a listing price of NT$165.

Market talks (25 Jan) tech - Green Energy (3519 TT) IPO today

Green Energy (3519 TT) lists today at NT$165. Owing to the market concerns of oversupply in the solar energy industry, its share price was traded at NT$150 and below in the Taiwan's emerging market. KGI's channel checks point to tight polysilicon supply until mid-2009. Furthermore, we think solar industry growth depends on govt subsidies and that slowing economies will have a big impact on solar module prices, putting solar cell and module vendors at higher risk. On tight polysilicon supply and consistent demand for solar ingot and wafer OEM services, we maintain our view that solar ingot and wafer makers are better positioned in the supply chain to enjoy stable sales growth and sustain margins. Green Energy is trading at 13.8x PE based on the IPO price, a level lower than LDK's 20x, Yingli Green's 23x but similar to SAS's 12-13x and Wafer Works' 13.4x. We suggest investors to focus on midstream solar wafer providers in the market as we believe their business fundamental will be relative solid as compared to the downstream solar cell/cell module makers and they should enjoy a higher PE multiple as the midstream solar industry is still in tight supply situation until mid-2009.

Henan Province, China. The Company is pleased to announce that the joint
venture has now commenced trial production of polysilicon. The estimated output
of the joint venture is 200 tonnes to 300 tonnes in 2008.

ReneSola holds a 49% interest in the joint venture company, which is a
      consolidated entity of the Company.

Mr. Xian Shou Li, Chief Executive Officer of ReneSola, said: "The commencement
of trial production by the joint venture is a key milestone achieved in our
polysilicon procurement strategy. The output from the joint venture will
enhance our feedstock sufficiency and help to reduce raw material costs at a
time when costs remain high as a result of the industry-wide shortage of
polysilicon. We believe that the experience gained from this joint venture will
provide us with a solid foundation for the development of a further polysilicon
manufacturing plant in Sichuan Province, China, with a projected annualised
capacity of 1,500 tonnes by the end of 2009."
