      Hi Last Man,

Evtl. rotleuchtende Augen, etc.? :D

      Getting A Grip On Graphite
OnPage Media Hosts a Toronto Conference for Investors May 2

      By Greg Klein

Vancouver was a resounding success, and Toronto will be bigger. OnPage Media’s May 2 Graphite Express-Conference at Toronto’s Sheraton Centre presents an ideal opportunity to cut through the hype and to gain firsthand, accurate information about this upcoming sector. The event takes just three hours and registration is free.

Investors and brokers are signing for this conference because graphite companies are doing well in this tough market,” says OnPage Media principal Robert Bick. “We will be introducing 15 graphite companies to the Toronto market. The 12 presenting companies will each give a four-minute talk, and attendees will be able to meet with each of the CEOs one on one.

      The Juniors Shall Prevail
An Interview With Zimtu’s Dave Hodge

      By Greg Klein

Dave Hodge is President/Director of Zimtu Capital Corp TSXV:ZC, an investment company focused on private, micro- and small-cap resource companies. He spoke with ResourceClips writer Greg Klein April 18.

Q: Would you give us a bit of background on how Zimtu began and how it evolved?

A: Zimtu has taken a variety of forms, from an exploration company to a dot-com company. When it was a dot-com, the company spun out its mineral properties and created a new exploration company called Commerce Resources.

And after the dot-com market fell apart we realized that the best thing we ever did for Zimtu shareholders was create Commerce because they received shares in Commerce through a share dividend.

Hodge (right) with Cambridge House's Joe Martin: "I surround myself with the right people."

So we reorganized the company and essentially went into the full-time business of creating junior-exploration companies through a dividend process. That was relatively successful. And to augment that, through a series of partnerships with prospectors and/or geologists, we have developed quite a transactional business where we’re involved in staking properties on a partnership basis and helping market those properties to other junior-exploration companies.

Ultimately, that part of the business works well from a company-creation aspect because what you get by buying Zimtu stock is access to that very early stage of junior exploration. And in that very early stage there is tremendous upside and tremendous potential.

Essentially it gives the public access to that very early stage that normally they wouldn’t have access to: pre-IPO in a risk-reduced manner because Zimtu is there to help back up the new company.

Q: That’s quite a distinctive and impressive business model. You’ve talked about the tremendous opportunity and risk reduction at the pre-IPO stage. There is a fair amount of risk, so how do you manage that?

A: We increase the odds of success by helping the companies in whatever area they might require, whether it’s regulatory, marketing or geological in nature. Zimtu is in a position to help where they need help, and that’s how we add benefit to early-stage companies. And when you can reduce that risk, it can make those opportunities extremely profitable.

Q: There’s a fair amount of variety in your core holdings, where you have potash, base metals…

A: That’s because we’re opportunists. Essentially, that’s what we do, and the potash holding was a result of Zimtu being in the right place at the right time. Essentially, we wrote the first check for Western Potash TSX:WPX, and that first check was what was used to tie up the initial property. They had such a strong board of directors. What we added was introducing the company to the European financial community.

And as long as a company’s operating properly and spending money in the right places, we’re quite prepared to hold its stock until there’s a major liquidity event like a discovery or buyout.

Q: How do you stay on top of all these different commodities? Everything from geology to exploration, extraction, marketing, supply and demand, it’s all different isn’t, it?

A: I surround myself with the right people and give them the authority to make those kinds of decisions. My role is just to have the right people around me, and effectively, that’s what we’ve done.

For example, we made the call on the graphite sector over a year ago. We were able to act very quickly with our staking partners. That included prospecting partners across Canada and Australia, as well as different geological firms. So when we put out the call to help find graphite opportunities, we were able to move quickly.

Q: Speaking of graphite, how did you make the call? You were way ahead of everyone else.

A: It was led by one of our directors, Ryan Fletcher. A number of factors went into that decision, from anticipated future demand to existing supply, to how the current supply chain works. China tends to be a major factor in today’s markets. So when China is the major supplier of a commodity, and is in the position of reducing supply to the world, they might do so because of their own growth and consumption. That was true with rare earths, and it’s certainly true with graphite. But, on Zimtu‘s side, a little courage and a little luck was also required.

Q: Apart from supply and demand issues, do you think there’s something else driving the enormous investor interest in graphite?

A: No question, the fact that China is reducing exports is putting pressure on the market. Technology is one of the key driving factors, and there is more graphite in lithium batteries than lithium. Those kinds of factors all come into play, but certainly we’re very confident in the future graphite market.

Q: Do you see investor interest in graphite coming at the expense of others in the exploration sector?

A: I wouldn’t say it’s at the expense of others because it’s part of the exploration process. And the fact that graphite is one of the only sectors that are advancing on the market at the moment gives credit to the graphite people. I don’t think they’re stealing anybody else’s market, no.

Q: But you are involved in other companies besides graphite. There’s a lot of talk about how stocks have been lagging in the junior-exploration sector in general. What future do you see for the juniors?

A: Clearly, this whole rollercoaster of a junior-exploration market is part of the market and part of its history. We’ve been in the doom-and-gloom area many times before, and I’m very confident we’ll climb out of this altogether at some point. The real question is when. If I knew the answer to that I’d be a lot wealthier than I am at the moment. That’s the key question—when is the market going to turn around? But the question is, “When?” It’s not, “Is it going to happen?” It will happen for sure, and it’s happened a thousand times before.

How long this tough part will last is anyone’s guess. The fact of the matter is that the world is moving forward; and there’s tremendous consumption of all kinds of commodities; and those commodities will have to be found by the junior-exploration sector. The market will come back.

Q: I can certainly understand that no one can say when this will happen, but can you possibly imagine what would trigger an upswing or any change of circumstances?

A: Certainly if the world starts getting the global economic problem straightened out, and I’m talking about the European problems and the problems in Greece and even the US, that would certainly fuel a turnaround.

A discovery could definitely fuel a turnaround in individual stocks or in individual sectors. That could turn this whole junior-exploration market around. People just need to get greedy again.

Q: You don’t think there’s enough greed going around?

A: No, not at the moment. We need more greed!

Q: We’ll start a campaign for that one. Graphite certainly looks good; but at some point do you see interest leveling off; or maybe the bubble could burst?

A: What I would say is the graphite market will mature. We’ve seen this in other sectors, and at the moment the world is saying we need more graphite. And the junior-exploration companies, venture-listed companies, are working to answer the call. Yes, at some point there will be enough discoveries moving towards production that will satisfy that demand. But clearly we’re at the beginning of the cycle. I believe there’s lots of opportunity in the graphite space left. It’s an exciting market; and the demand is there; and we’re answering that demand.

Q: Where do you see Zimtu a year from now?

A: There’s no question that we’ve been building the assets of Zimtu very successfully. We’re going to continue to execute our business model over the next year. As our asset base grows, so will our reputation for being solid partners for exploration teams. We’re already being recognized for that. It’s opening up new possibilities and opportunities working with new groups. These types of activities could help Zimtu grow significantly in the next year.

Q: In summary, what would you say to a potential investor who was looking at Zimtu?

A: I would tell them that by owning Zimtu it gives you access to that diversification of several early-stage opportunities. Allow us to sort out those early-stage opportunities and let us help you profit from them.

Q: Okay, that’s excellent. So you’re attending the Toronto Graphite Express-Conference?

A: Yes, I’ll be there in person, and we’ll be there in strength with Zimtu personnel and Zimtu-related companies. We’re excited and looking forward to that conference.

Q: What did you think of the Vancouver conference?

A: I thought it was dynamite! Go listen to my speech I made at the end. I think in that speech I said the conference was impressive, and the audience was impressive as well.

Q: Is there anything you want to add that we haven’t discussed?

A: Just that it’s all about the team, and it’s all about the people.

At press time, Zimtu Capital had 10 million shares trading at $1.10 a share for a market cap of $11 million.
