Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. to Begin Gold Production

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 3, 2008) - Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (TSX:PTQ)(OTCBB:PTQMF)(FRANKFURT:P7Z) today provided details of the progress made at its 100% owned Molejon gold mine in central Panama. The Company is now in the final stages of completing its Molejon gold production facility and has scheduled its first test production for the latter part of December 2008.

The Company has estimated that it will produce 100,000 ounces on average per year, although the Company also believes there is potential for increasing this as production processes are perfected and maximized.

In addition, the Company has compiled historical exploration data from the 1990s on its 795 square kilometres of concessions and is strongly encouraged by the numerous gold targets identified. The results of this work are in accord with the Company's exploration model for the Petaquilla Mineral District. As a result, a 26 kilometre zone containing gold targets has been identified and requires follow-up exploration. The Company has commenced an aggressive exploration program over these targets comprising additional geological mapping, soil sampling and a trenching program with the aim of prioritizing the drill targets.

Total cash cost figures for gold production are calculated in accordance with a standard developed by The Gold Institute, formerly a worldwide association of suppliers of gold and gold products including leading North American gold producers. The Gold Institute ceased operations in 2002 but the standard is the accepted standard of reporting cash costs of production in North America. Total cash costs include mine site operating costs such as mining, processing, administration, royalties and production taxes, but are exclusive of amortization, reclamation, capital and exploration costs. Total cash costs are then divided by ounces produced to arrive at the total cash costs of production. The measure, along with production, is considered to be a key indicator of a company's ability to generate operating earnings and cash flow from its mining operations. This data is furnished to provide additional information and is a non-GAAP measure. It should not be considered in isolation as a substitute for measures of performance prepared in accordance with GAAP and is not necessarily indicative of operating costs presented under GAAP.

MiningWatch Canada/Alert to Investors re: Petaquilla Minerals and the Molejon Gold Mine in Panama

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 18, 2008) - MiningWatch Canada today released an Alert to Investors regarding Petaquilla Minerals and its Molejon gold mine in Panama, timed to coincide with the company's annual meeting in Vancouver.

The report documents a number of serious problems that the organisation alleges are not being properly disclosed to investors. According to MiningWatch spokesman Jamie Kneen, "Investors should be fully informed of the realities surrounding Petaquilla Minerals' flagship property."

The report shows the company has run afoul of the Panamanian government, as well as environmental organisations and local communities, putting itself in an isolated position.

"Petaquilla doesn't have any backing from a major mining company, having lost its interest in Petaquilla Copper to Inmet Mining, and set itself up in a hostile relationship with Inmet and Teck," says Kneen.

"At the same time, its failure to respond to legal requirements and environmental regulations has put it in conflict with a huge range of Panamanian groups and led to charges being laid by the Panamanian environmental authorities. The legal status of the concession itself may well be in jeopardy," he adds.

Petaquilla Minerals acknowledges that it "does not have a feasibility study and there is no assurance that these projections (for size of the Molejon gold deposit) will be realized," (in a November 3, 2008 news release) and that among other risks, "there can be no assurance that we will be able to obtain or maintain all necessary permits," (in its May 2008 Annual Information Form).

However, nowhere in its publications has the company disclosed the specific nature and seriousness of the risks it is facing. Says Kneen, "These issues are of acute interest to Panamanians, especially those affected by the environmental degradation documented by Panamanian authorities - but they should be of special interest to Petaquilla shareholders whose investment is at stake."

He adds, "Such issues should also be of concern to Canadians, as long as this is being perpetrated by a Canadian company with Canadian government backing." The Canada Pension Plan holds over a million shares in the Vancouver-based company.

Petaquilla Minerals Ltd.: Wet Commissioning of Molejon Initiated and Environmental Impact Study Approved

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 28, 2008) - Richard Fifer, President and CEO of Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (the "Company") (TSX:PTQ)(OTCBB:PTQMF)(FRANKFURT:P7Z), today announced that the wet commissioning of the gold production facility at the Company's 100% owned Molejon gold deposit in central Panama has begun. The ball mills and other critical equipment are now being tested prior to the commencement of production. The first gold pour has been scheduled for the latter half of December 2008.

The Company also reports that the National Authority of the Environment (ANAM) on November 26, 2008, issued Resolution DIEORA IA-809-2008, which approves the Environmental Impact Study Category III, submitted by Petaquilla Gold, S.A., for the implementation of the Molejon Mining Project and adds other measures mandated by the ANAM.

The next step in the preproduction process is the electro-mechanical operation of the plant which is scheduled for early December. The Company will update shareholders on a regular basis as the full commissioning date approaches.

Vancouver, B.C. 28. November 2008: Richard Fifer, Präsident und Vorstandvorsitzender von Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (nachstehend 'das Unternehmen' oder 'Petaquilla' genannt, TSX:PTQ, WKN: A0D KMR) gab heute bekannt, dass Nass-Inbetriebnahme für die Goldproduktion der zu 100% im Eigentum befindlichen Molejon Goldmine in Zentral-Panama begonnen habe. Die Kugelmühlen und die anderen kritischen Ausrüstungsgegenstände werden derzeit vor der Inbetriebnahme getestet. Vancouver-based mining firm Petaquilla Minerals Ltd (PTQ.TO) will begin producing gold at its Molejon project in Panama within weeks, the company said on Friday.

The concession is expected to produce an estimated 100,000 ounces of gold by the end of 2009 and maintain those levels for at least six more years, Chief Financial Officer Bassam Moubarak told Reuters.

"We will start production before the end of the year," Moubarak said.

The announcement comes after lengthy delays and a series of environmental complaints about the mine linked to cyanide and deforestation. Originally the project was supposed to begin production in January this year.

Petaquilla now has permission from Panama's environmental regulator to go ahead with the project, Tom Byrne, the company's spokesman, said.

A massive copper project with the same name was spun off from Petaquilla Minerals and went public in 2006. Canadian company Inmet Mining Corp (IMN.TO) is in the process of wrapping up an acquisition of a majority stake in the project, the largest copper deposit in Panama.

The Petaquilla gold mine will be the first major site to begin production in the country, although a slew of other proposals have been put forward during the commodities boom.

Although rich in minerals, Panama's tropical climate and the remoteness of some of the sites has long made large-scale exploration unattractive.

The dramatic drop in metals prices in recent weeks and the squeezing of credit due to the global financial crisis has again put the development of some projects in doubt. (Reporting by Andrew Beatty; Editing by Christian Wiessner)

Während sich die Aktien anderer Goldproduzenten und sogar einiger Goldexplorer jüngst sehr gut entwickelten, kommt der Kurs von Petaquilla Minerals noch immer nicht von der Stelle. Vielmehr wurden in den vergangenen Tagen erneut zahlreiche Aktien von vermutlich des Wartens überdrüssigen Aktionären verkauft. Das dürfte sich in den kommenden Wochen nach meinen Informationen noch als Fehler entpuppen, denn die Vollzugsmitteilung über den Beginn des Goldabbaus im Molejon-Projekt in Panama steht unmittelbar bevor. Angesichts dieser Situation kann es nicht verwundern, dass Petaquilla-Präsident und –CEO Richard Fifer in den vergangenen Wochen zu Tiefstkursen zwischen 0,35 und 0,40 CAD nach meinen Informationen Hunderttausende an Aktien gekauft hat. Hier tut sich aus meiner Sicht daher für die kommenden Wochen eine sehr große Chance auf, denn noch immer können Petaquilla-Anteile zu Tiefstkursen erworben werden:
Allerdings sieht die Kursentwicklung in den vergangenen Wochen nach einer Art Bodenbildung aus, ist der Kurs bereits aus dem Abwärtskanal herausgewandert. Kurse von gut 1,- CAD pro Aktie halte ich daher für durchaus erreichbar und dies würde einer knappen Kursverdreifachung entsprechen. Für das Musterdepot werde ich daher die Position um weitere 0,5 % auf dann 2,0 % zu Kursen von höchstens 0,28 Euro (Börsenplätze München, Frankfurt, Stuttgart) aufstocken.
