Nobelpreise sind für die Forschung bereits vergeben worden, der tägliche Nutzen ist jedoch noch gering. Ein finnischer Konzern könnte dies bald ändern.
Seit mehr als 150 Jahren ist Graphen bekannt. Das aus Graphit abgeleitete Produkt beherrscht die Phantasie vieler Forscher, für frühere Erkenntnisse zu Graphen haben Wissenschaftler 2010 sogar den Nobelpreis für Physik erhalten. Doch der bisherige Nutzen für die Industrie ist eher gering, die echten Anwendungsgebiete sind rar, obwohl die Forschungen schon jahrelang laufen.
Das könnte sich bald ändern. Die Europäische Union hat im Rahmen eines Forschungsauftrags 1,35 Milliarden Dollar an Nokia und einige Partner vergeben. Das Konsortium soll das Supermaterial genauer unter die Lupe nehmen und neue Möglichkeiten der Anwendung entwickeln.
Bei Nokia, eher bekannt als Hersteller von Handys und Smartphones, ist man von dem Material geradezu begeistert. Man ruft bereits die nächste industrielle Revolution aus und vergleicht Graphen mit dem frühen Eisen und mit Silikon.
Das Material ist superdünn und zweidimensional. In Tests hat man bereits herausgefunden, dass es ein exzellenter Hitzeleiter ist, zudem ist Graphen 40 Mal stärker als Stahl. Auch als Halbleiter hat es sich schon bewährt. Den Vergleich zu Silikon braucht das Material ebenfalls nicht zu scheuen. Die elektrische Leitfähigkeit schlägt die des Silikons um das 1000fache.
Die Forscher bei Nokia müssen nun evaluieren, wo und wie Graphen am sinnvollsten eingesetzt werden kann. Einerseits kann es andere Rohstoffe in bestehenden Produkten ersetzen, andererseits könnten damit auch ganz neue Produkte möglich werden.
Überlegungen gehen in die Richtung, dass Graphen in Computerchips eingesetzt werden könnten, das würde andere Materialien in den sensiblen Chips überflüssig machen. Auch moderne Batterien könnten vom Graphen profitieren, gleiches gilt für viele leichtgewichtige Komponenten in der Industrie. Gedankenspiele gehen ebenfalls in Richtung eines reißfesten Graphenpapiers. Die Forscher sehen zudem Möglichkeiten in der Medizintechnik, angedacht ist der Einsatz von Graphen in der menschlichen Netzhaut. News bei Stratmin Global Resources: Graphmada gehört jetzt zu 100% Stratmin. Dafür wurden neue Shares ausgegeben und der die Aktien 1 zu 10 gesplittet. Die Börse hat den Vorgang positiv aufgenommen und mit leichten Kursaufschlägen reagiert. Die DAB hat mir die Aktie inzwischen freigeschaltet, so dass ich kaufen könnte...

exploration company focused on Madagascar, is pleased to announce that all resolutions
put to shareholders at the General Meeting held earlier today were duly passed.
Dealings are expected commence at 8.00 a.m. on 29 January 2013. This follows a share
consolidation of every ten existing StratMin Shares of 0.4p each into one new StratMin
Share of 4p, the completion of a placing of 30,060,000 Convertible Loan Notes of 5 pence
each with an aggregate value of £1,503,000, raising in aggregate approximately £1.5 million
(before expenses) and the acquisition of Graphmada Equity Pte Limited (“Graphmada”).
Key Highlights:
• £25.5 million consideration for the acquisition, which has been satisfied through
the issue of 51,000,000 new ordinary shares of 4p each at a price equivalent to
5p per share;
• placing of 30,060,000 Convertible Loan Notes of 5p, raising £1,503,000 before
expenses; and
• creation of UK's only quoted graphite miner, with phased production ramp up
scheduled over the next two quarters.
The placing provides sufficient funds for working capital requirements and enables
the Company to:
• provide for the continuous operation and maintenance of the existing 12,000
tonnes per annum graphite processing facility at the Loharano Graphite Project;
• review expansion opportunities of the graphite processing facility at the Loharano
Graphite Project;
• conduct a drilling program within the Loharano Licence area to upgrade the
existing resource and also prove up additional graphite resources;
• install an upgraded graphite drying facility at Loharano; and
• acquire additional earth moving equipment.

sind nur über die London Stock Exchange zu handeln, Deutschland kein Handel, geht bei CC leider auch nicht, sieht nach einem intressanten Wert aus. Werde mal mir mal die Graphitwerte wieder genauer anschauen.

Mir gefällt bei Stratmin, dass sie bereits mit der Produktion beginnen und damit vor der erwarteten Schwämme von neuen Produzenten in zwei-drei Jahren am Markt sind.
Allerdings sind sie über mein Depot bei der DAB nicht zu handeln. Naja, bin eh noch nicht entschieden...

Today it’s readying to take full control of a production-ready graphite project in Madagascar that will be utterly transformational.
It already has a 15 per cent stake in Graphmada, and plans to acquire the remainder via an all-paper reverse takeover that values the entire company at £25.5million.
Chairman Sahney: 'We suddenly become a major player in a supply constricted market'
Stratmin’s Madagascar operation will target production of a premium large flake product which, it aims to sell for US$1,400-US$1,600 a tonne.
Production is getting underway and the plan over the next two quarters is progressively to ramp up output to 1,000 tonnes a month. At this level the company becomes enormously cash generative – which marks it out from many other juniors on the AIM market.
The next step will then be to double annual production – which would really mark the company out as a mover and shaker in the world of graphite.
They are currently speaking to seven 'marketing and end user companies' interested in taking Stratmin’s graphite. All have samples and the first major shipment is imminent.
Following the deal to acquire Graphmada the vendors will own around 78 per cent of enlarged Stratmin. However, they are in for the long haul, according to the chairman. New investors, meanwhile, have the opportunity to get into London’s only graphite story at the very ground floor.
'The vendors have put all of their shares in the company. All the money raised is going into the company,' Sahney explained.
'We have negotiated a good value for the company and it is being acquired at a significant discount to its discounted cash flow value. And they are willing to do that because they are long-term investors as well.'
The plan over the next two years is to double production to 24,000 tonnes and to carry out exploration on the two licences – Loharano and Antsirabe - that make up Stratmin’s Madagascar project. So only 30 per cent of the area has been explored, meaning there is plenty of blue-sky to chase.
Beyond that who knows? 'We certainly have something that someone would want to buy,' said Sahney.
'But we will have cash and we’d hope that people would back us to expand. If you are looking at two years we have enough property to expand organically. Beyond that there are bound to be people that are cash constricted and this offers us opportunities.'
