As Governor Biola Ajimobi of Oyo State prepares for the take-off of Geely Automobiles project, one celebrity who is expected to influence fans to patronise the relatively new product is Fuji music star, Wasiu Ayinde, aka K1 De Ultimate.

Sources say everything is in place for the auto brand that will be assembled in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, before the end of the first quarter of this year, and K1 will soon be launched publicly as its brand ambassador.

"First Geely Auto Methanol Vehicles Arrive in Iceland

Geely Auto Group’s (Geely Auto) pure methanol vehicles will be taking to Icelandic roads following their unveiling earlier today at a methanol engine symposium organized by Carbon Recycling International (CRI) in Reykjavik, the capital city of Iceland.

Initially six Emgrand EC7 methanol vehicles, which utilize a pure methanol 1.8L engine developed by Geely Auto, will enter a fleet trial in Iceland. The vehicles have been previously tried and tested throughout China in various fleets in Shanghai City, Shanxi and Guizhou provinces.

The move follows an agreement signed last July by Geely Auto’s parent company Zhejiang Geely Holding Group to invest a total of US $45.5million in CRI. The investment consisted of an initial investment and additional purchases of CRI equity over a three-year period, which will allow Zhejiang Geely Group to become a major shareholder of CRI and gain representation on the company’s Board of Directors.

CRI will use the EC7s to carry out further testing of methanol vehicles and fuels in Iceland to further explore methanol fuel technologies. The vehicles will operate on ‘liquid electricity’ from CRI’s pioneering power-to-methanol process. Renewable methanol produced by CRI’s process is sold in Europe underthe registered brand name ‘Vulcanol’.

Geely Auto Group President and CEO Mr An Conghui commented: “We’re excited to see our methanol vehicles move from China to an international platform. By working directly with a fuel provider such as CRI we will be able to further expand our understanding of methanol in different climes and driving conditions.”

Mr. KC-Tran,CEO of CRI, said: “Our cooperation with Geely is transitioning from an investor relationship into a wider partnership; we welcome Geely’s vehicles into this test pilot program and we are looking forward to sharing the results of our findings. This will give researchers, policy makers and others a much needed insight into the untapped possibilities of methanol as sustainable transport fuel.”

CRI was founded in 2006 in Reykjavik, Iceland and has quickly become the world leader in developing technology to produce renewable methanol fuel from cleanenergy and recycled CO2 emissions. It operates the world’s first renewable power-to-methanol plant near Reykjavik.

Geely Auto became the first auto manufacturer in China to conduct research and development into methanol vehicle solutions in 2005. The company is proactively working with partners internationally and domestically to expand the use of methanol-fuelled vehicles and has already deployed fleets of methanol-fuelled taxis in cities all over the country and has since invested significant resources in the development and promotion of methanol-fuelled engines and vehicles over a long period and has already made progress with this technology in China."

In China feilen lokale OEM weiter an ihrer Elektroauto-Kompetenz. Nun hat Changan eine Joint-Venture mit CHS Technologies angekündigt, wodurch eine Entwicklungsgemeinschaft mit Geely entsteht.

China Hybrid Systems (CHS) geht aus einem 2014 gegründeten Joint-Venture zwischen Geely und dem Batteriekomponenten-Zulieferer Corun hervor und hat inzwischen mehrere Plug-in-Hybrid-Antriebe zur Serienreife entwickelt, auf die nun auch Changan Auto zugriff hat. Laut einem Bericht lokaler Medien hat CHS erst kürzlich staatliche Förderung in Größenordnung von umgerechnet 150 Millionen US-Dollar zur weiteren Stärkung seiner Entwicklungsaktivitäten im Bereich Hybridantriebe bewilligt bekommen.

Changan und Geely gehören mit einer Produktionszahl von rund 1,3 Millionen Einheiten, respektive knapp unter einer Million Fahrzeuge im Jahr 2015 zu den größten lokalen China-Marken. Geely profitiert technologisch zudem stark von seiner europäischen Tochter Volvo."

"....The company's new Bo Yue (aka the NL-3) SUV is supposed to launch in the first quarter, and management is targeting 10,000 units a month at maturity - a level of sales that seems realistic given the 40,000/month that Great Wall manages for its Hover H6 SUV. The new Emgrand Cross will come later in the spring, with the second-gen Emgrand EC7 due around the start of summer. A second SUV, the Emgrand GS (or NL-4) is due in the second half of the year.

And even more will be on the way in the years to come. Geely has already started cooperating with Volvo (OTCPK:VOLVY) designers and engineers via the China-Euro Vehicle Technology (or CEVT) business that Geely's parent company owns. The two entities are working on a project called Compact Modular Architecture (or CMA) and Geely will start launching cars from what is essentially a Volvo partnership in early 2017, with 15 models expected by 2022.

Geely is also looking to make a big splash in hybrids. The company introduced an electric version of the EC7 in November, priced competitively with BYD's E5 and Chang'an's Eado, but with a better driving range (330km max, 250km in more normal conditions). Management has talked about generating 90% of its sales from "new energy" vehicles by 2020, with 65% of those consisting of hybrids and plug-in hybrids and 35% from all-electric vehicles with ranges up to 500km....."

CHS’s scalable platform can produce powertrains for hybrids and plug-in hybrids. Considered China’s increasingly stringent fuel consumption target and CHS’ bullish future, Chang’an Automobile’s capital increment shows this carmaker’s faith in CHS’s platform and its cost advantage.

By now, CHS has got a 1 billion rmb fund through China’s national industrial transformation and upgrading program last September and its hybrid powertrains had passed a national engineering certification last November.

CHS’s hybrid powertrain will debut in the GeelyEmgrand EC7HEV in the first half of 2016. Chang’an auto will also apply CES’s technologies in its own product lines, among which including Chang’anEado PHEV and CS75 PHEV."

Hallo Fire72,
Kandi wird aber nur genannt für das Jahr 2015.
Januar 2016 aber nicht mehr.
Auf http://www.geely.com/welcome/index.html ist der EC7-EV unter den verfügbaren Autos aufgeführt.
Wie ich aber letztens mal gelesen hatte sind nicht nur wir irritiert.
Auch chinesische Schreiberlinge sind mit der Informationspolitik nicht begeistert.

@joap: Also, Kandi wird in dem Artikel doch auch sehr häufig genannt...Der Ausblick für 2016 sieht so aus, dass ein Absatz von bis zu 100.000 Fahrzeugen möglich ist...und das sind alles Fahrzeuge, die auf Geely basieren (Panda (Panda-EV), S5 (K17) und EC7-Verschnitt (K30))

Was mich allerdings mittlerweile auch irritiert ist, dass der EC7 nirgends auftaucht .... Wer weiß, was da jetzt wieder hinter den Kulissen läuft ....

Wie ich schon mal geschrieben hatte das die guten Verkaufszahlen vom Kandi Ev bald vorbei sein werden, weil sie nur an EIGENE CarSharing verkauft worden.
