"Chinese automobile industry finally experiences negative growth

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 13) - The automobile market in China in 2012 has started on a bit of an off note, with very poor sales in January. According to a report appearing in the Shanghai Morning Post today, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers announced yesterday that the market has finally begun to contract and decline in the first two months of the year, as inventories continue to grow.

According to CAAM statistics, in the first two months of the year China produced and sold 2.9 million and 2.95 million vehicles, respectively. The respective figures represent year-on-year decreases of 4.93 percent and 5.96 percent. Among those, production and sales numbers of passenger automobiles over the two month period were 2.32 million and 2.37 million units, respectively 1.68 percent and 4.37 percent less than last year. Meanwhile, automobile inventories continue to grow. The difference between announced and actual sales in February reached 120,000 units.

As disputes in North Africa and the Middle East continue, the price of oil continues to increase, having topped $110 per barrel at the end of last month. This has helped increase the pressure on prospective consumers, and may be one of the reasons why the number of announced sales far exceeds actual ones.

Sales of small cars (engine size of 1.6 L or less) fell 6.9 percent over the two month period, totaling 1.15 million units. Meanwhile, sales of own brand automobiles fell a full 11.5 percent, finishing at 1.01 million units.

The fact that this February had 21 working days total has helped sales recover slightly from January. Currently there is a relatively high amount of agricultural workers embarking on new enterprises, which in turn has helped microvan sales maintain positive growth."

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai March 13) - Although Volvo is not as well known in China as fellow European brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, the manufacturer is hoping to increase its presence in China with the help of new owner Geely. At the floor of last week's International Geneva Motor Show, Volvo executives expressed their desire to see the number of models available in China increase. With new production sites in Chengdu, Sichuan and Daqing, Heilongjiang, the manufacturer should also be able to increase the number of Chinese-built Volvos.

A report appearing today in the Beijing Morning Post quoted Volvo Cars CEO Stefan Jacoby as saying that the ratio of Chinese made auto parts in the manufacturer's vehicles will be 90 percent in the future. Furthermore, Volvo's goal to obtain a market share of 20 percent in the luxury segment has not changed.

Volvo announced the newest addition to its lineup at the Geneva Motor Show: the V40 (pictured). The new compact is powered by a turbocharged engine mated to a six-speed transmission and all wheel drive system. The V40 also boasts unprecedented pedestrian airbag and traffic signal recognition technologies. The V40 is expected to make its debut at next month's Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and may be sold in China as early as next year.

Volvo has specifically noted two other new models destined for China: the XC60 Plug-In Hybrid and C30 pure electric car (pictured below). The C30 is currently making test runs in Shanghai Jiading district, which illustrates the importance of the Chinese market to Volvo.

Executives from Volvo have stated that the manufacturer's models will maintain their Western style while adopting Chinese characteristics. The manufacturer signed a technology transfer agreement with Geely Automobile last week, which will help spread the scope of Volvo technology."

da hast Du narürlich recht, so kann man sich Beschwerden
auch vom Hals halten.

Wenn der SUV von Geely kommt, wollen alle den haben,
denn der hatte noch nie Beschwerden.

Volvo kann froh sein, dass sich ein chinesischer Investor bereit erklärt hat,
ein Unternehmen, welches seit Jahren rote Zahlen produziert hat, zu übernehmen.

Der "barmherzige Samariter", der das ganze Potenzial Volvos erkannt hat - heißt
Li Shufu. Ihm gehört Volvo !!

genauso ist es, wenn es Li Shufu nicht gegeben hätte,
wäre es Volvo vielleicht so wie Saab ergangen.

zeigt, dass du dich noch nicht richtig in den Thread und die "Geely-Story" eingelesen hast. kann st du ja nachholen -
