"Just as Elon Musk and Panasonic would not have funded the construction of their lithium-ion battery Gigafactory without securing supplies of the specialty metals they will require, neither will the other five companies mentioned above as having announced plans for Gigafactories of their own. When another lithium-ion battery Gigafactory breaks ground, supply of graphite will clearly get squeezed; if two or three more break ground, that will consume more graphite supply than currently exists globally, prices will explode, especially for the large-flake, high-purity product."

Oakdale Resources - Wide Thick Continuous Graphite Intersections - May 29, 2015
      http://stocknessmonster.com/news-item?S=OAR&E=ASX&N=860206
      http://oakdale.helloitsluke.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/O…

Kombination, könnte, wie gesagt, recht leicht zu "knacken" sein, und, wie sie schreiben, "suggests that the graphite can be readily +economically mined by simple cut +fill methods, without any drilling or blasting required"

Oakdale Resources targets production of large flake graphite on Eyre Peninsula, Oakdale Resources(ASX: OAR) is a mineral exploration company with eight exploration tenements, covering 2008 square kilometers of central Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. The Company is currently focused on the delineation +development of its flagship Oakdale Project, following a flake graphite discovery with the potential for low-cost, graphite mining - AI - Jun 12, 2015
      www.theaustralianinvestor.com.au/magazine.asp?id=3837

"Recent air core drilling at the Oakdale Project has revealed multiple high-grade graphite intersections in near-surface oxide material over 2 kilometers.

If further drilling continues to confirm the scale and consistency of the mineralisation, the company believes the project can progress quickly into production and with modest capital expenditure.

“I believe we are going to have a very low-cost mining and treatment recovery plan,” Oakdale Resources managing director, John Lynch told The Australian Investor.

“All of our graphite material is located in clay, so from a mining point of view it will be very cheap. From a treatment point of view we will basically just wash the clay, we will not crush it and will recover the flake graphite without it being damaged.

“We are 20 kilometers from a sealed highway, it’s a treeless, almost lunar landscape and it is freehold land in a part of Australia people actually  want   to work    ,” he said.

      'Impressive Drilling Results'

Oakdale commenced air core drilling on 11 March and over 8,612 metres have been completed in 153 drill holes. Assay results have been received for 113 of these holes.

The graphite lenses are up to 275 metres wide and average 100 metres wide over the 2000 metre length. The thickness of the soft saprolitic, graphite-bearing clays in the oxidised zone averages 18.9 metres.

Mineralisation is mainly within 50 metres of the surface with around 20 metres of overburden
      .

“We are very pleased with the progress to date and the results. It is all air core drilling and we are only drilling down to refusal,” Mr Lynch said.

The results demonstrate there are extensive areas of graphite bearing units within the Oakdale Project, according to the company.

“We drilled three diamond holes into the oxidized zone and managed to get in excess of 60 per cent flake graphite, some of which are in-excess of 425µ.

“So, in less than three months, we have drilled 153 holes for a total of 8612 metres and demonstrated over 2000 metres of continuous graphite, which is averaging around 100 metres.

“We want to optimize our metallurgical characteristics and make sure we can optimize our recoveries,” Mr Lynch said.

With a good likelihood of the mineralisation continuing and all the assays received, Oakdale is hopeful of deriving a maiden inferred resource on the current known mineralisation.

“We plan to move some of the graphite mineralisation into an indicated and measured resource over the next few months.”

      Market Demand

The outlook for graphite is bright, with prices forecast to increase over the next five years and demand in relation to graphite for refractory, battery, consumer electronics and grapheme all set to increase, with non-traditional markets potentially overtaking traditional ones in the process.

China is the world’s largest producer of graphite and is set to become a net importer of flake graphite while the Chinese Government is looking to mandate that 10 per cent of new building have 10 per cent graphite in insulation.

Graphite has had a steadily growing market for industrial uses for a number of years, but it has been the arrival of the electric powered vehicle as a viable commercial product in recent years that has caused analysts to dramatically revise price and demand forecasts.

“The Graphite market is around 1.1 to 1.5 million tonnes a year and projections are for it to go to about 2.5 million tonnes over the next years,” Mr Lynch said.

“Our objective is to capture around 3 per cent of the growth. We are looking to mine upwards of 1 million tonnes a year and produce somewhere between 75,000 to 100,000 tonnes of graphite and greater than 60 per cent - based on our metallurgy work - should be flake graphite.”

      Moving, Forward

While a new player in the graphite sector, Oakdale Resources is hopeful its impressive drilling results, obtained in a low risk, stable jurisdiction like South Australia, will make investors stand up and take notice.

“We are NOT looking to be the dominant player globally  . We are simply looking to be a reliable and consistent player in a stable part of the world.

“Given our location and our economics, we believe we can do that. We are now moving forward quickly and can demonstrate that we have a robust project,” he said.

OAR was recently trading at 0.180 on the ASX. "

"As I mentioned in my previous article, other companies, such as Triton Minerals and Magnis Resources (OTC:URNXF), have similar projects in Africa, also with take-off agreements and attractive economic evaluations, and have much lower market caps. These companies appear to better value than Syrah."
