NEWTON, Mass., Sept. 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BRIDGE Energy Group (BRIDGE) today announced that the company’s Senior Director of Analytics, Paul Dick, has been selected by CEATI International organizers to present at the 3rd Annual Smart Grid Conference, October 2-3, 2018 in Anaheim, CA.  Titled “Putting the ‘A’ in ADMS: The Journey to Advanced Grid Management,” Dick’s session will take the audience through the journey to advanced grid management via technology, systems, people, process and a fundamental shift in how utilities operate.

The 3rd Annual Smart Grid Conference highlights the changing power system demands on a utility’s operation, in the presence of Distributed Energy Resources (DER), as well as new technologies and devices on the edge of the grid, smart monitoring and the integration of a utility’s operating systems with enterprise IT systems. Dick’s session underscores the path to advanced grid management is by developing a fully integrated and holistic strategy—prior to deploying technologies in the power systems.

“Although an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) is considered the foundational technology for advanced grid management, thinking about this in terms of ADMS alone will cause missed business opportunities and potentially expose the utility to significant rip and replace costs,” Dick said. “To successfully achieve advanced grid management, utilities need to first consider a holistic strategy, and all of the aspects that such a strategy would entail, in conjunction with ADMS. I am honored to be selected by CEATI to present this important topic to attendees.”

Dick’s session “Putting the ‘A’ in ADMS: The Journey to Advanced Grid Management,” will be held on Tuesday, October 2 from 1:30-2pm.  Attendees will get insight on how to develop a fully-integrated strategy that:

    • Integrates utility management systems into a holistic view of transmission and distribution operations
    • Bridges the OT/IT organizational gaps
    • Changes the way teams interact to coordinate and organize the work effort of managing the grid
    • Identifies new information sources that provide deeper insights than available today.
