As part of Drinking Water Week, Missouri American Water announced today that the company’s 2018 Water Quality Reports are now accessible through the company website at https://amwater.com/moaw/water-quality/water-quality-reports, as well as via printed copies that can be mailed to customers.

“Though we have come a long way in terms of our water treatments and services, there is still a lot of work to be done and challenges to overcome,” said Debbie Dewey, President of Missouri American Water. “The hardest being that water is often taken for granted. Every single day, a person turns on his or her tap to bathe; brush teeth; or get water for drinking, cooking and cleaning. And unless the person notices something unusual, water quality is never given another thought. That is where the Drinking Water Week campaign comes in.”

Also known as the Consumer Confidence Report, Missouri American Water’s annual water quality report compares the quality of water supplied by Missouri American Water against standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The report describes local drinking water source information and shares test results, including all substances detected in the water and their levels.

By providing two easy ways for customers to receive confirmation that their drinking water meets all federal standards for water quality, the company is also working to increase the public’s understanding of the value of water.

In addition, Missouri American Water will be out in the community celebrating Drinking Water Week, with the goal of generating awareness about the need to maintain quality and conserve the supply of the world’s drinking water. Events and activities include:

    • A tour of our largest water treatment plant, Central Plant, for a group of local 7th-grade students
    • An open house at our Radcliffe wastewater facility for members of that neighborhood

Missouri American Water will also be taking the opportunity to educate its customers and communities throughout the week about the specific steps taken to ensure the delivery of clean water from various sources. These include:
