     299  0 Kommentare Health Net Awards $1.2 Million in Grants in California to Increase Access to Healthcare and Improve Health Outcomes

    As part of our continuing commitment to providing high-quality healthcare for our members, Health Net of California, Inc. (Health Net) recently awarded $1.2 million in grants to boost access to care and improve health outcomes among Californians. Grant-funded programs will improve outreach, provide education to prepare California Certified Medical Assistants, develop health information technology infrastructures to improve preventative care, train medical staff on best practices, and much more.

    “Some Californians face worry every day that their loved ones don’t have access to health coverage,” said Carol Kim, Vice President of Community Investments and Government and Public Affairs for Health Net. “To help make a difference, we’ve awarded access grants to trusted community-based organizations and medical clinics with deep, longstanding ties to neighborhoods where the need for coverage is among the highest.”

    Each access grant recipient has a strong history of delivering services in a culturally appropriate manner, especially for people with disabilities and those with African-American, Asian-American, and Pacific Islander heritage. Access grant recipients will use the funds to assist local individuals and families enroll in Medi-Cal and all available coverage programs. “They will assist people beyond the application process, helping families effectively navigate the complex healthcare system and gain access to care,” said Kim.

    “Quality goes hand-in-hand with access and Health Net is committed to high-quality care for all,” noted Kim. “It’s why we’ve awarded quality grants to support physicians in Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Joaquin counties.”

    Health Net’s quality grants will also provide resources across California to assist participating physicians in Health Net’s technical assistance program improve health quality outcomes. Through months of one-on-one collaborative work with a coach, these physicians have identified ways to enhance their patients’ healthcare. Now, with the grants, each physician will implement a tailored solution for their practice to deliver on evidence-based quality care.

    Access grant recipients include:

    • Alameda Health Consortium in Alameda, Contra Costa and Solano Counties
    • Asian Americans Advancing Justice Los Angeles in seven counties, including San Diego and San Francisco
    • Asian Health Services in Alameda County
    • Asian Pacific Health Care Venture in Los Angeles County
    • California Coverage and Health Initiatives in eight counties, including Kern, Riverside and San Bernardino
    • Fresno Interdenominational Refugee Ministries in Fresno County
    • Maternal and Child Health Access in Los Angeles County
    • Sacramento Covered in Sacramento County
    • Southside Coalition of Community Health Centers in Los Angeles County

    Quality grant recipients include:

    • Ali Awada M.D., Inc. in Los Angeles County
    • Community Medical Centers in San Joaquin County
    • Mallu Reddy M.D. in Los Angeles County
    • NTM Medical in Los Angeles County
